Hi guys, could you please run through the posts made by one recently registered 'Maikel' on the Weight Loss and Mens Health thread. The poster started off as one of the usual salespeople trying to flog us miracle pills but his posts (several of which he has now removed) have deteriorated into intimidation and veiled threats, particularly towards one member of our forum to whose daughters picture he refers and then tells her 'I know who you are'

I'm sure you appreciate that this cannot be tolerated. Thanks for your assistance.

What happened on this site last night was a total disgrace, i have never heard or seen such awful behaviour from one person to another on a support forum before. To threaten to put a members picture of their daughter on a porn site is the lowest thing i have read, and to PM other members with threats, what sort of person does this. Action needs to be taken immediately please.

I have now removed all references to my dd after getting an idea of what happened last night - I feel this is a sensible idea and have advised all on the parenting forum the same - in case this ever happens again

Sorry to poke my nose in but my hubby works in Child Protection within police. Mods will have access to this idiots IP address, just report to police they will be able to trace him.

Child protection is a huge thing and threats like this aren't tolerated. It wouldn't matter that he is abroad either, if he has saved a pic of your daughter it's not good news for him after making threats associated with pornography.

What a sicko.

You word your sentences just like our other friend, the doctor, factory owner, tablet seller!

IP addresses are visible by website owners and forum administrators/moderators. Police use IP addresses for tracking illegal activity on the internet. If you don't believe this you are extremely uneducated.

I am guessing you are some silly teenager who has taken a stupid joke way too far, now you are nervous so created a new username to try to defend your alterego

I do like the fact you are telling me to grow up. I am 27, a working professional, mother and engaged to be married. I am simply advising people that the 'grown up' thing to do is to remove any reference / pictures of little ones so that any other weirdos out there aren't able to make these kind of threats - let alone carry them out.

Hi guys well unlike others I am what I say I am and I am currently investigating this matter as Mr Maikel has actually Pm'd me and informed me he has posted such picture on a site. I am seeking advise from colleagues who specialise in cyber crime and do hope that the moderator will provide IP addresses to assist an investigation. If anyone else has evidence of this man's posts please feel free to pm me and I will forward you my work email.

The fact that it's a school computer doesn't matter a jot! Firstly most school computers require you to log on first thus giving away to your id. Secondly, when the police investigate threats of this nature they are very, very good.

Many years ago when I was at uni (when technology was not as advanced as it is now) my flatmate was doing a project on how the internet is used for child pornography by sick people. She was in the communal IT hall with 250 computers. She typed a few random phrases into the search engine. The following day she was hauled into the deans office demanding an explanation of her actions. The local police had to interview her, she was distraught, obviously very innocent but it took her many hours to get them to believe her. My point is, where the internet is concerned someone is ALWAYS watching you. You leave footprints everywhere and those with an ounce of IT knowledge can see your IP address and trace you using IP tracking websites so you can tell, for instance, if a member claims to be from Australia but they ARE NOT

Just found out that our friend MAIKEL was banned from calories per hour.com for sending over 200 different people pms.

Hi, as both members Maikel and loveandpeace were using Estonian registered web mail I can only assume they are one and the same person.

Their registrations have been blocked and if we have any further trouble from them we will use their IP adresses to track them down. It will not be hard to find them specially if they are based in a college as they will have log ins and we can compare time codes.

Please let me know if they appear again under a different name.

Thanks administrator - are you aware of exactly what Maikel has posted as it is quite serious. I would personally like to investigate this matter and establish if he has committed any criminal offences I know this seems over the top but I do believe he has caused major distress, disgust and lack of trust for alot of members on the weight loss forum.
