Hi !
I'm new to this forum. I'm 43 and have two young children aged 4 and 8. I have recently missed two periods (I was pretty regular). I have ruled out pregnancy ! I already suffer from PMS and moderate depression. I was taking tricyclic anti-depressants but have stopped them in favour of St John's Wort (herbal a/d). I am having what may be hot flushes several times a day and during the night.
The problem is I don't know if my moods and symptoms are now down to beginning menopause, taking the medication OR stopping the medication ! Can anyone offer any insight ?

Hi Lady Sabina,
I too am new to this forum and I thought I would share my experience of the menopause as it sounds as though it could be similar. I found changing my diet helpful, cutting out sugar, wheat and dairy as much as possible. I also found I had hot flushes when I was stressed about things. Being a reflexologist myself I went to a reflexologist and that really helped a lot. I am a big fan of detoxing and I used Crystal Spring Detoxing Footpads and also Serenity natural progesterone.
Does the medication have any side affects that are listed and did you come off the medication with the consent of your Dr. if you didn't see the Dr. perhaps you should go back and ask them?
Hope this helps.

I think it is quite possible that you are in premenopause but probably not.
I bought a book - 'What your doctor may not tell you about Premenopause' Dr John R Lee
I found it quite interesting, it can be bought cheap on the Internet.
It explains how the early menopause works and how to balance your hormones.
It also tells us how useless doctors are, they offer the easiest treatment for them. not the best for us. They use trial and error sending us away to try the first treatment and say come back if that doesn't work and we will try something else. Madnessssssss.
Most girls just need to eat better, exercise but need guidance on how to do this successfully.

Hi Angieee

Great to hear someone who seems to know what its like to be premopausell, I have just heard the work Peri this week for the first time, im 47 and totally confused. I went back to my doctor yesterday and got told off for not taking tablets for depression, I decided against it. My moods can get very low. I have my coil in now 5 months and am still getting my periods and they are getting heaver. Iv deceided to give it a little bit longer and hopefully it will sttle down. Now spring is on the way hopefully my moods get better, im going to look for the book Dr John R Lee and get more advice.

Thanks for the tip

I know what you mean about depression pills. I always felt the depression I had was a side effect of hormonal problems so the treatment would not help but just mask everything and add to the chemical soup so I never took any.
Please don't tell me you have a Mirena coil fitted if you have get it out now as that is your problem for certain.
I only recently heard of Peri to. Our hormones are shifting at our age and need to be carefully balanced.
I doubt the doctors will help you here, they were never any use to me, they took blood samples to test my hormone levels and they came back okay. I have read that the accurate way to test hormones is using saliva samples not blood.
The doc kept telling me I was okay.
I now do all my research myself and rarely go to the doctors.

Hi Mandy 1960

Thanks for your email, When I went back to the doctor she put on Cyklokaprom to stop my periods, and then she said see how I go. Im going to give it a try for a bit longer as I only have the coil in 5 months and I have met women whow have it in and have no problems. If I keep going on like this i will have it removed. I will check out that web site and give them a go.

Thanks for your advice

Emily

dear emily,

I had a mirena coil in for 4 years and always had really bad headaches. Consulted the doctor but he said that they aren't related. I also gained a whole lot of pounds. I got off the coil and lost the migraines. I'm still having weight issues though. I'm had mine removed... I don't think all of these are coincidental!

Hi there everyone

My name is Mary Frances and I'm new to this excellent website. Just like all of you I too was in the menopause. Luckily I found a website that did the trick for me and now I have periods and ovulation cycles once again without any help from western mediine! And my 1st period was on the 4th week of just starting my treatments. It took my breath away! And I'm 48.

If you google as I did and just type 'reverse my menopause' you may find the same site. The guy's name is Tony and he lives in London. His off-the-wall technique is amazing but it works. For me anyway. Hope you find his site. Best of luck with your search.
