Hi I'm 17 years old and about a month ago noticed my hair was falling out more than usual. I woke up this morning and started running my hands through my hair. After about 5 minutes i counted 160 hairs in the sink. There is little visible difference in my hair, however if I look closely i can tell that it is getting thinner. I havent seen my doctor. I m trying to figure out why this could be: My grandfather went bald at 40, my father has very thin hair, but only since recently. I have university auditions in 2 weeks that i don't feel that stressed about, but perhaps i am more so subconsciously. Could it be something in my diet? I have also been taking a prescription anti-biotic for the last 2 years, minocin at 100mg every other day, sometimes every day, to treat acne. Can anyone suggest a solution?
Your hair loss doesn't sound that bad! We loose about 100 hairs a day anyway because its just old ones falling out & being replaced by new. Try just using a mild shampoo if you wash your hair every day & when your hair is wet use a wide tooth comb because its more gentle & doesn't cause as much breakage. Aslong as your hair isn't falling out fast & is being replaced with new hair I wouldn't worry too much!

It would be helpful to know the underlying cause of hair loss. Sometimes hair problems may be caused by inadequate diet (lack of proteins, iron) and in such situation hair loss may be reversed by eating the proper diet.
Hi there Im 17 years old, and for the past few years i have suffered from OCD and anorexia. The year before last i had to go into hospital because my OCD mounted up and i was extremly stressed and traumatised, i didnt really nosticed but my hair started falling out. Recently i have got over my anorexia (just about) but theres still patches of hair missing and my hair is really thin. My mum has thin hair aswell. I was just hoping if anyone could help me and tell me weather this is part of the illness and if there is anything i can do? Thank you!
