i dont really know what they are - lumps of skin i think. but they thought it would stop me snoring (it didnt). No they didnt give me the skin in a jar, but the nurse did say i was 'very brave'.

I've looked it up, apparently they are 'lumpy clusters of spongy tissue that sit in the back of the nose above the roof the mouth' and they're not much good to you after childhood. How did you find hypnotherapy. I have a phobia snd a few people have recommended I go to an hypnotist to get it sorted out. Would you recommend it?

what do you mean i wont miss them? are you a doctor? anyway my GP (who i'm not convinced is a doctor either) says that mine may be growing back due to the whole amount of skin not being removed properly. i really dont want to have to keep going into hospital to have them removed every few years, even though he says it is quite common for people to have to do this.

Do you drink a lot in the evening because that makes snoring worse. You should elevate your head so use lots of pillows and avoid rich food near bedtime. You should get in touch with the British snoring and sleep apnoea association, they should be able to help you.

i had thought about this before but there seems to be no relation between the ammount i drink and the snoring. i do drink quite a bit but it niether helps me sleep better nor worse. maybe i should try and keep track of what i eat in the evenings. Cheese does effect my sleeping patterns, so maybe it also makes the snoring worse.

Hi there! My Dad had exactly the same problem and was having to sleep seperately from his wife so he went to the doctors and had to go to a sleep clinic. He was given a contraption (a kind of mask) whic he had to wear at night. My Dad realised that he hadn't had a good nights sleep in YEARS and although it took some getting used to says this thing is a God send! Speak to your doctor. It might be a medical reason rather than stress or anything mentally wrong..... Do you fall asleep during the day easily and wake yourself snoring at night? My Dad used to fall asleep infront of his computer at work and would drop off as soon as he was sat infront of the TV - that's why he went to the docs, because he was worried about falling asleep while driving! It got worse over years and my Dad is now 54. Good luck!

I've heard of loads of different snoring sprays, pills and stuff - but none of them seem to work. Surgery is obviously too drastic, so I've found the best bet is a snorban mouthpiece. You just put it in your mouth (a little like a gumshield), and it seems to make the world of difference! I think their website is www.snorban.co.uk, and they're not particularly expensive. If snoring is making your life a misery, I seriously recommend having a look at it.

I agree with Pedro - apparently snoring has to do with the tissues in your mouth and throat. Apparently the back of your soft palate can sag and vibrate as you breathe in and out, hence the soring sound. My father had an operation to literally cut it out, but it didn't do much. Another option is to try a herbal remedy that will firm up the soft skin of your back palate and so hopefully reduce the snoring. I know you can get this at a fairly reasonable price through Neways International. Stuart
