Have you tried those sticky plasters you wear on your nose. They are supposed to stop you snoring? I can't remember what they are called, I'll go see if I can find out and post it for you later.

Me again, I could't find the name but you'll see them in chemist shops. I did find this amazing face mask thing which may be worth checking out. http://www.sleepangel.net/ You won't look too good but it's better than divorce!

i have already tried those and have also tried hypnotherapy, but that didnt work at all. stress from work plays a big part in it. I am a high powered media executive and if i am troubled at work, my sleep patterns are messed up.

thanks for that link - i will check it out. i have quite a large beard, so am not sure how it will work with that, but it is definitely worth having a go anyway. probably better than divorce, you are correct. the snoring was one of the reasons me and my ex-wife argued so much.

You should probably get to the root of the problem rather than treating the symptoms. If you are stressed at work deal with it before it's too late. I talk from experience here as I used to have a very high powered job too, stress got the better of me and I had a heart attack three years ago. Since then I've been taking serious measures to make sure that I control stress rather than let it control me.

i have been to see the doctor about this and i seem to be able to cope with the stress quite well EXCEPT for sleeping. I have found that having the TV on (usually on a news channel or documentary) seems to let me sleep more comfortably and i am less likely to snore quite so loudly. i keep very fit through competing in triathlons, so i have my heart checked out quite regularly. what else could the snoring be caused by?

Poor muscle tone in the muscles of the tongue and throat is another cause of snoring. that was what was wrong with me and a trip to the doctor, though not a total cure, has eased my snoring.

Gosh, that's a new one on me! Maybe that's why women don't snore, they have wonderful muscles in their throats and tongues from all that talking!

oooohh woman do snore. my ex-girlfriend used to snore like a pig - unfortunately the similarity didnt end there. she had to have her adanoids removed in the end.

This is probably a really stupid question but do men have adenoids? You always hear about women having them out but never men. Anybody out there know?

I don't want to appear dense but what exactly are they? Why did they take yours out and did they give them to you to take home in a jar afterwards?

yes they can regenerate - so can your tonsils and as i understand it so can your liver - but i think i am straying away from the point here.

With the abuse I gave it this weekend it's good news to me that my liver can regenerate! I still don't know what adenoids do though.
