Hi,

I wondered if any of you men could help me.

My husband and I have just found out that we are expecting our first child after trying for 6 months.

My husband has been very distant over the past week and is finding it difficult to explain how he's feeling. I know that he is very nervous and worried, as am I, but I would like some advice from other men that have been in the same situation.

Is it normal for expectant fathers to feel worried and anxious about their future as fathers?

Hi Sarah, I know youve posted this on the mens health forum but I feel able to answer your question!
David was the same as this when we found out we were expecting and it didn't become real for him until our first scan at 14 weeks. Also, he said he felt silly talking to my tummy further into the pregnancy and other things like that.
I think for the man its hard because its all happening inside our bodies and they almost don't feel part of whats going on.
He is great with her now though.

So in answer to your question I think it is normal for expectant father to feel worried and anxious.

Hope this helps x x

Thanks Vicky,

He seems to have got over the shock now and is talking more about the baby.

Your reply has put my mind at rest.

Thanks again
