Sorry I'm not a bloke, but a 'female' member with a passion for healthy and good food. Don't mean to sound patronising but consider this: If you want to lose weight in a responsible way, then don't just go on a crash diet, but change your diet in general as well. A lot of products we use in our society are too heavy for us - like too much wheat, yeast, meat and dairy. Try to find alternatives or lower the intake. Nutritionists can assess for you what your body works best with or not. A fantastic way of losing weight beforehand is doing a colonic irrigation with juice fast. I lost incredible amounts of weight (even though I didn't even mean to). Online you can buy detox programs where you can do the colonic irrigation at home. It's really easy, I've done it myself. Anyway, guys, good luck!!! [:0]

Mac, At the moment I am finding this diet a doddle, and I have now dropped 30lbs in 34 days. I am thinner now than I was 16 years ago when I got married (my wedding suit is loose). Only problem is I have no clothes that fit now! It wasn't always easy though I have to admit. 1st week was sheer hell, and then full blown ketosis kicked it and the hunger went away. Then it was just emotional hunger, and slowly I have learnt to deal with that too. The most difficult things to deal with were smells and sights. Initially smelling food made me crave it, I learned to deal with that - then it was seeing food. Now, though, nothing much seems to get to me. Occasionally I have cravings, but they are the exception now. I still think about food all the time, but I can control my "reactions" to thinking about it now. The problem that I have now is that I am starting to feel "scared" about going back onto food. I have done so well and feel so great I do not want to risk any of what I have now. I suppose that will be another learning to take in my stride ..... Steve

I'm just entering into my third week and at times I thought I wouldn't even make the third day! Just do what you've gotta do for those first few days. Go to bed early if you have to and drink more water, tea & coffee than necessary if it helps to fill you up. When you go to yr drop in session a few days after you start you'll be amazed at how much weight you've lost in just 3-4 days! and then you'' be encouraged to continue and then the hunger pains REALLY do switch off (some days I forget I haven't eaten all day!) As you go on (if you've got a good counsellor)you'll get recipes so that you can make muffins, crips, gateaus and chocolate bars etc with your packs which helps to encourage you to keep on as you don't get bored. If he/she doesn't, check out Ebay there's loads of recipe ideas on sale there and thanks to them I'm now back enjoying my food packs again! Good Luck you can do it! quote: Originally posted by STEVE JOYCE [br]Hi,
I am starting next Monday 14th Feb. If you have any tips etc, I would be most grateful. I understand the first 4 days are the worst. How did you do?
Thanks

You MUST have your 4 packs a day. If you don't, you will not be receiving the nutrition it requires and with enter "starvation mode" and will shut down. This is turn will reduce weight loss, which in turn will depress you, which in turn will make you quit. I am sure this is not what you want, or you would not have started. This diet is tough, VERY tough, for the first week to 10 days. I was so hungry during that time it was untrue, but once full ketosis kicks in you stop being hungry, and it becomes easier. After that, all you have to do is to learn how to deal with your emotional hunger, and what seeing and smelling food does to you. I still think about food and crave food on occasion now (like Saturday when I walked past an Indian Restaurant), but I can now deal with it. I have been out for meals with friends, sat at tables with others eating and it truly does not bother me anymore - not even when they are eating the things I used to love before. Just stick with it - it DOES get easier. I have been on this for 7 weeks now, and have so far lost 38.5lb, so nearly 3st. I will have made my 3st by the 56 days (not 100 - just 56 for men) set out by LL. I will not stop there, though, as I will still have another 2st 10.5lb to lose, but I WILL make it. I have to agree that the packs are not the most inspiring ever, but you need to look at them as the "nutrition" your body requires and not as "food". They certainly cannot be considered that! There are different ways of dealing with them. Eat two at a time twice a day so that you only have to suffer twice. Have them hot, have them code, have them as paste (gloop), have them as crisps, have them as muffins (see recipes discussed in an earlier thread), biscuits .... There are ways of getting through this - you just have to focus on where you are going and why you are going there. If you keep focussing on the negatives, you will never get your head round this. I found it hard at the start, but 99% of the time now it is second nature to me. I still have tough days, but they are getting fewer and fewer. Stick with it! Steve

One thing I forgot to say is to get yourself a hand-blender or an aerolatte battery whisker to mix the packs up. The shaker that LL give you is useless. Use a blender and it mixes much better, virtually no lumps, and a smoother taste. Also, use the fact that you can add stuff to the packs - Peppermint tea to the Chocolate, Red Tabasco, Black Pepper for the soups, coffee to the vanilla. Try mixing the packs 1/2 qnd 1/2 - Chocolate & Vanilla, Chicken & Mushroom, Caramel muffic with Chocolate sause etc etc. The key to getting rid of the powdery taste is the blender to make sure it is mixed properly .... Also :-)), you say you are missing your tea. Why? You are allowed tea and coffee, as long as they are black. You cannot use milk, but you can use tablet sweeteners ..... One person (somewhere) has even stated that they use the vanilla foodpack like powdered milk during the day ..... Not sure what that would be like. I don't have the problem with tea and coffee as I have always had it black with no sugar or sweeteners anyway. Steve.

[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] Hi guys, My name's warren and I started off weighing in at 22st. Take into account that I'm 6ft3, most people say that I carried that weight well before, but I know that I have been healthier and so a family member recommended that I join the proramme. I was a bit sceptical before, but I've now been on this lighter life for nearly 3 weeks and I have almost dropped 2stones.... I believe in this programme and feel really focussed. I wanna try and get to 15/16st one day, but the key I have learnt is ONE DAY AT A TIME. If any of you guys wanna drop me a email please feel free to do so on wpstealth@yahoo.co.uk. [ ]

There doesn't seem to be any logical pattern really - just believe and you'll get there - this week I'll be 16st something for the first time in 15 years - and as I'm 6' 2" just over 2 and a half stone to go.
I'm probably going into maintenance at the end of Jan (should have lost another 2st by then) - but we'll see how it goes.
Keep up the good work and keep us posted on how it's going.
Mark
