Yes I agree! I had an accident when my first child was 10 weeks old, an old man drove into the side where he was sitting in his carseat, he was safe and fine and it prob saved his life! I on the other hand went to pieces, called him some awful names before collapsing in a heap (shock). I had whiplash and a back injury!

Thanks again Ladies, your advice is wonderful and i am taking every bit in!
We are off to halfords tomorrow, i really like the maxi cosi tobi and it does have a good review on the Which? site - it is frightening the variations on prices on different websites though!! We weren't expecting it to be cheap, and will pay whatever we need to to keep her safe, but it is amazing how much extra you give to the shops! Hopefully that one will fit in the car - i am petrified of having an accident and the car seat not being adequate - paranoid i know but you guys are so right, you can be the safest driver on the road but it's the other people that cause the problems.
Maddie is 22lbs now so should be ready to face forward, i think she'll like it because she's such a nosy girl and is always craning her neck to look out of the window.
Thanks again guys, you're the best!

Just thought that i'd let you know that the Maxi Cosi Tobi fitted well in the mondeo (in case anyone reading has one and is wondering!). The lady at mothercare was really holpul. She said that the problem is either that the space between the edge of the car and the seatbelt clip in the middle isn't wide enough, or the seatbelt clip is too long and the clip rests on the edge of the seat and could shatter in an accident.
I have ordered it through Halfords though because it was £170 at Mothercare and £139.50 with Halfords online!
Happy shopping everyone xxxxxxxxxx

Noo - fabbo choice mrs! And thats a bloody bargain at £139! I paid £160 for mine I believe and that was the cheapest deal I could find at the time so its great they've come down in price even more! At 22lbs she's heavier than the recommended 20lbs - she'll love being able to see out! My DS is 5 next month and he is still in his as it goes right up to 18kg and hes onlly 16 kgs bless him! So Maddie will get tonnes of use out of it and that £139 will seem like more of a bargain as every year passes!
Vicky - I have heard of a Mamas and papas (i think its that brand but don't quote me on it!!) combination seat that goes from birth to 11 yrs. Which? tested it and posted the crash test video on their website....scary stuff I can tell you. I wouldn't want to entertain one that tries to span the whole spectrum from birth to 11 in one seat...check with Kia as I think she had a massive issue with a car seat that reckoned it could do all stages...I can't be faffed to go back and look at what munchkin's riding in - but guessing a Britax first class or first class si? They are supposed to be pretty good forward facing - its only rearward that Which? didn't rate them.

Hi Ever, thanks for the info. Ellies got a Britax first class in Rome. We never had it as a rearfacing as she had a Britax rockatot. Just wanted to check she was safe forward facing in this one! I have been very happy it with it so far and it fits so well in our car so its the right one for us.

It was a really good deal, got DH a good deal on a sat nav with Halfords online at crimbo (promise i don't work for them!). I looked on Kelkoo but they kept saying about a company called Two Left Feet but i've heard bad reports about them in the media so wasn't sure. That is really good to hear that it will last her so well.
I know Maddie is going to love it and i will like being able to see her!! I hate not knowing if she's gone off to sleep or not in our other one. When we were in mothercare chatting to the assistant a lady walked past us and mentioned that she also had it and loved it!
