Liz hun try no to let your MIL get to you, its not worth it, and I agree with the girls, try to ignore her, it might be hard to do in the beginning but will get easier in time.
however since she is harveys granny you cvant ignore her completely but try to ignore her actions.

Joanne hope Lucys rash is gone by now and things have settled down a bit.

karly how is phoebe doing, has the mad drinking finished, just persevere, it will all come right, good thing is hun, in a couple of months you wont remember all this.

iylayhah try snd wash eisa in aquas cream, dont use asny soaps when you wash him, just wash him with aqauas cream, hopes it helps a bit.

Monkey hun, how are you doing, you seem to have this motherhood down to a T.
trhanks for all your help.

I have been observing ella lately and have decided to bring on changes once we hit the 3 month mark.
The "secrets of the baby whisperer"book recommends that babys should sleep through the night from 3 months, so thats when I will incoperate the dummy, also the book says I shouldnt substitute the dummy for a feed but just give her the dummy for 10 minutes then feed her and next day make it for 15 minutes and so on.
The book also emphasises on play time after a feed, which is what we dont do, ella usually sleeps after a feed and later wakes up for play time, how is everyone doing it.
I am surprised that the book says you shouldnt chnage the nappy at night unless there is a poo!!

have to go, will have look on msn at harveys pics and will post some of ella too

take care everyone

hello

Liz - ignore the MIL i do with mine lol. she makes snide comments like ' i dont feel like a grandma as we dont see her all the time' grrrr so i said well we are busy all the time. i think MIL must be given a book on how to behave lol. Took a peek at the pics of Harvey lol in the teacup! hasnt he grown he looks a proper little boy now.

Joanne - hope Lucy's rash has cleared and well done to her on the weight gain.

Karly - they say at 7/8 wks they have the growth spurt, hopefully she will ease off soon. How is the b/feeding going?

Gosia - re the dummy if Ella wants to keep it i wouldnt take it from her even if her time is up as it may upset her more. You will find when they have enough they spit it out and wont take it back. We have playtime after a feed regularly unless she is so tired she falls asleep on her own. Becki doesnt get a nappy change in the nigh with her sleeping through unless she poo's but she wakes up to do that ! i read pampers babydry nappies keep wetness locked away for 12 hours so gooing to get them next.

iylayhah - the aqueous is really good so hopefully it will help. Im in Halifax so not too far. You will have to join the msn site to put ya piccies on.

well we are fine Becki is still sleeping through and being an angel. We started baby yoga and she was that chilled out she fell asleep ......lol. she had her 2nd jabs on wednesday and she screamed poor thing i felt awful. i have put all her newborn vests etc away now as i refue to put her in them. she is in her up to 3mth ones which are soo baggy lol. she was 12lb 8oz at last weight check.

well best go as we are going to costco today for a look around

speak soon

Hi

Hope everyone's having a nice weekend. The weather is really hot here now so having to go for walks quite early in the morning which is not always easy!

iylayhah - Welcome! Caitlin had lots of heat spots all over her face and body. I researched a bit online and tried putting a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda into some cooled boiled water. I then dabbed it on after her bath and patted dry. It really helped. When the spots went away her skin was a bit dry so I just put some vaseline on it. Hopefully the aqueous cream will work for you though!

Liz - the pictures of Harvey are sooooo cute. He is gorgeous and a real little boy. Try not to let your MIL annoy you too much, I really think it's their purpose in life to wind us up!

Karly - hope Phoebe has settled down now and that her growth spurt passes soon.

Gosia - I have started playing with Caitlin after she has a feed and then she has started taking a little nap before her next feed which has been unheard of! I think whatever works for you though is fine. I always changed Caitlins nappy when she got up during the night. I did it before her feed and it was always really wet.

Monkey - Wow, Becki is really growing. I think that when you go up a size in clothes they are always a bit loose to start with. Caitlin's are drowning her at the moment!

Well, better go - Caitlin asleep so going to watch some Grey's Anatomy!!!

Hi everyone
well thats the weekend almost done! Harvey starts nursery tomoro! Im really excited to see how he reacts, he is normally really good!
my mum is looking after him in the afternoon and tuesday afternoon too which suprisingly im ok with!
I have looked at DH work rota and I only need MIL to take care of him every other month on a friday morning which i think i can live with lol! will just have to grit my teeth and ignore it....for now!
I have had quite a unsettled couple of days with him dont know if its because other people have taken care of him but went into town on saturday and me and my mum had to juggle him because he wouldnt go in his pram!! he has been a bit clingy too think he could be teething! he is dribbling all the time and chewing his fist and anything else near his mouth!

Gosia Harvey always catnaps through the day but when he wakes in the morning he plays then after a hour of getting up has a sleep then everyday at 5pm he is asleep untill his bath (about 6pm) or else hes a grump! shortly after his bath he goes to bed!......Oh my all he does is sleep!!

speak soon liz xx

Hi All

Welcome Sophie to our extended happy family!!! It sounds like my Lucy has the same rash & i was told it was viral but it is still present but we see the gp on tuesday & wednesday for our 6 weeks checks....

Liz MIL's thankfully i don't have one anymore but you just need to bite your tongue hun its hard i know but hey if its only a short time once in awhile then i am sure you can cope with things... I hope the nursery goes well too...

Lucy has been sleeping reasonably well but has been really clingy this weekend as shaun has stayed with his daughter & all she wants to do is pick lucy up all the time.... I did get a lovely gold pair of earings off drew & lucy & a gold bangle of Shaun as its my birthday on tuesday & i won't see shaun until the weekend due to his work etc but i must say i was abit upset as i got a JUST FOR YOU card which said to Joanne love from Drew & Lucy where was to mummy card, Am i being selfish here Joel was'nt even mentioned!!!! PND not too bad i guess atm but going to mention it when i see my doc on tuesday (docs on my birthday lol).

I feel quite low been on since lucy was born but since friday i have been really heavy the things us women go through LOL.....

Do babies have a growth spurt at about 11 weeks? Caitlin has been sleeping more during the day and for the past 2 nights has woken up at 3am absolutely starving. Previously she was catnapping during the day and sleeping all night. People are recommending that I give her some baby rice but I don't want to do that if her spurt will pass. What do you think?

Thanks

Hi Kirsteen

It does sound like a growth spurt
they occure at the first few days at home and around 7-10 days, 2-3 weeks, 4-6 weeks, 3 months, 4 months, 6 months and 9 months (more or less). Babies don't read calendars, however, so your baby may do things differently thy tend to last 2/3 days

Is she draining her bottles or atleas taking most of them ? if so it may be an idea to increas her ounces especially for her bed time feed, i know people who have given baby rice younger than 4mth and also mixed it in the bottle so they get it with the milk. Becki had a spurt at 11 weeks amd she eased off.
If she is sleeping longer it could be the weather as the heat does tire them out more. Does she have water ?

Caitlin drinks 5oz every 2 - 2 1/2 hours but doesn't want any more and then drinks 8oz before she goes to bed. She takes water occasionally but only when she is thirsty or really hungry! Unfortunately we don't get rusks here so I would need to give her baby rice. I might see how she does for the next few nights just incase it's a growth spurt and if she is still getting up I will try the rice. Thanks for your thoughts on the matter.

how about her last feed being a hungry baby feed or a cow and gate comfort feed dependant on what formula you use normally, It may help keep her a bit fuller.

it does sound like a growth spurt - its hard having to get up in the night when you have had luxury of sleeping through isnt it. to think when they were tiny the amount of times we got up in a night........

Is anyone planning on anymore babies? i always said just one but i could soo do it all again lol

I have looked for hungry baby milk but they only seem to do follow on milk here. I will be in the UK next month so will stock up on supplies then.

Caz, it's funny that a few weeks ago I would have said never again but I am now thinking that I would like another baby. Not right away of course!!! DH and I have talked about it but we have to wait and see if things happen naturally this time as it took us 4 years and an iui to have Caitlin.

Has everyone started getting AF again? Mine came for the first time yesterday and it's heavier than I have ever had! Seems worse than when I left the hospital. Hope it doesn't last too long.

hi all

wow has it been a tough week. we're just getting over the growth spurt but now it's crying.. phoebe won't have a dummy, instead she prefers to scream herself to sleep, not just at night but in the daytime too it's so distressing. she cries so much sometimes it feels like all day long and it's really getting me down at the moment. i've been giving her gripe water which seems to have reduced the crying at night, i'm thinking of switching to infacol. i'm sure it's probably colic and praying she'll grow out of it eventually.

one plus side is that since i put her in her own room in her cot last week she's almost sleeping through now, from 8pm until 5.30/6.30 and then usually goes back to sleep until about 9am.

kirsteen hmm don't know what to suggest they say now that you shouldn't give any solids before 16 weeks because it's bad for their digestive system but i guess if she needs it earlier you might not have any choice. like you say baby rice is best because rusks are full of sugar and you definately shouldn't ever put anything in her bottles.

liz well done for surviving your first week back at work! sorry your MIL is still annoying you.

gosia your baby whisperer book sounds good, think i'll have a look on amazon for it, anything to stop the crying i need help!

joanne happy birthday for tommorrow!

monkey - thinking of another baby already?! i'm not surprised concidering what an angel Becki is! we always planned on having four but after the nightmare i've been having the past few weeks i'm starting to reconcider! ha no i think we'll definately have more but a slightly bigger age gap this time, definately once ollie is in school full time.

kirsteen i haven't had an AF yet due to BF, i'm not missing them either!

lovely day today here in the midlands, think i might go sit out in the garden whilst the kiddies are asleep.

take care all

love

karly x

hi everybody
Growth spurts.........Harvey has had a continuous one since birth! although can tell when he is having one its as if his feed doesnt satisfy him although it settles again.
as for me thinking he is teething, I can see a liitle bit of one but not the normal ones its on the bottom but on the right side like a fang???? so he is gonna look really funny because there is no sign of any more! lol Smiler
Karly Harvey had a few weeks where everynight he would scream non stop before he went to sleep, i read somewhere that a change of routine can help with colic so I find that if I bath him before his last feed he settles much better, its worth a try! Smiler

As for nursery he loves it in 4 hours he slept for 25 mins be just kept looking around and everyone was fussing around him! so in return he is really tired so when i got in at about 5.20pm I bathed him and fed him and he was flat out for 6.30!! so im gutted because thats all the time iv spent with him! wont hear a peep till morning!

at what age can i give calpol or use teething gel?? hes 12 weeks???

gonna get going and choose something for tea and got a stack of ironing and that program on fat babies to watch at 9pm!

speak soon hope all mummies and babies are doing well
liz xx

p.s happy birthday for tomoro joanne aww poor joel! i bet he gets you a lovely card! Wink
