Just wondering if there are any new mums out there who are pregnant again!? Eeker I have a 9-month old and just found out that we're expecting no. 2 already. Oops. So there'll be a 16-17 month age gap between them.

I thought we might be able to swap tips about telling baby (will they even understand?!) and what it's like being pregnant 2nd time round with a young 'un crawling into everything...

Would be good to chat to anyone else in the same boat

hi loocy

there will be about 20 months between my two when i have my next so it'll be slightly different for me but i just wanted to reccomend a book that's really good - Jules Oliver: minus nine to one.

it's by Jamie oliver's wife there's just a year between their two girls and it's a really interesting book.

The hardest thing i've found is not being able to lie down and sleep in the day like i did first time i was pregnant.

it may be hard work to deal with your two at first but think of how close they'll be when their older it'll be well worth it.

good luck and congratulations

love

Karly x

Hi Loocy,

I was in a similar situation to you!

I found out i was pregnant with no2, round about no1's 1st birthday! lol

It was great fun though and good now as they get on well and are in to the same things as they are fairly close in age, one is 71/2 and other is 6 in jan.

I'm sure you'll do great, but you'll defo need a double buggy, i know i did!

take care, bubbly x

Hi Looocy,

Firstly, many congratulations - wonderful news.

I fell for my second baby when my little girl was only 6 months old ! Actually it worked out that it was my first week back at work and I left to go on maternity leave 8 1/2 months after I went back Smiler)

My son is now 3 months old and my daughter is nearly 19 months old. I must say she had no idea that another baby was on the way and didn't understand at all, all my bump was was something for her to sit on when I picked her up !

I am pleased to say though that Isabelle absolutely adores George. She won't go anywhere without him and he is the first thing she asks for when she wakes up. Although the down side is that she has no concept of how heavy handed she is especially when she wants to pat him or kiss him. She is very enthusiastic with him and I was relieved when George got a little bigger and wasn't so vunerable.

However I must say that it is easier havingg 2 than I thought, the only thing is the logistics of it all. The simple things like getting them both down the stairs or into the car. And of course it is pretty tiring too but I found I dealt with the nights better as I was still used to being woken in the night.

Don't worry about it, it will be what you make it and you sound very excited about it. It will be worth it and you will find your own routine. I am around if you want to talk.

Congratulations again

Julie

Oh Julie and bubbly what lovely messages.. really helped me get excited about it as I was feeling a bit guilty about not being so excited about being pg this time as I was last time!!!

Julie it's good to know that your wee one didn't even understand the bump thing and she adores him now. It's lovely to hear. I can understand the logistics are going to be a nightmare (I found it hard enough buying a buggy first time round, let alone buying a blinkin double one now!!!) but am so glad to hear people are coping so well.

Keep in touch and let me know how you're getting on

Big Grin Yeah... but the boys are ID and thats meant to be more of a fluke than non ID.
Anyway... when is your 1st scan?? Am stalking you on the June thread and its making me even more broody. I've even been having terrifying thoughts I'm too scared to tell dh... wouldn't mind more twins actually Eeker

Summer it's mad, but part of me thinks twins would be great as I've always wanted 3 and it would get them all done and out the way!! But then Daisy is a bit older than Eilidh!!!!!

Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on.... Wink

Hi loocy (& everyone else),

I found out I was pg again just after ds' 1st birthday (& 2 days before I planned to stop breastfeeding so i could have a nice 'me' break over the summer, cos it will take a while right?......) , so i will have about a 20 month gap.

A good friend of mine had a 17month gap, it was hard work (still is!) but in some ways it isn't, you haven't left 'babydom' behind, the older isn't into potty training so you don't have to be rushing to the loo with them, 2 in nappies really isn't that bad.
If your older one is like mine, sleep is unpredictable anyway so you are used to disturbed nights.

I am finding the pg very different tho, i mean physically the pg is pretty similar, but there isn't the time or luxury to sit down, imagine how the baby looks, read all the books, compare it to a bean/banana/melon/etc.... and so on.
You don't have time to worry about the niggles and pains.
and of course the rest, hmm, well my ds still has a midday nap so i make the most of that believe me!
my dh even said i shd get used to being less houseproud (really, me? i'm SO not houseproud already!!) as it will all go to pot in jan anyway! so i sit down, feet up and chill for as long as i can.
and dh is back on 'pg duty', cooking lots for me, and fetching me things!!

right, that's long enough, spk soon oh and congrats!!!

Hey Loocy

Congrats on your pregnancy! This is a good thread to start coz I was wondering the same thing - how will i cope?!

I have a little girl Evangeline who is 11 months old and I'm 12 weeks pregnant with no. 2. So there will be a similar age gap between our children, I think Evangeline will be almost 18 months when this babe is born, depending on how overdue I go again!

After I first had Evangeline I missed my bump terribly, I got quite used to the little wriggles although I was very ready to meet her towards the end. This time I have taken much longer to get used to the idea. I just had my scan yesterday and I now feel it is confirmed. I couldn't quite think I was expecting until I had seen the heart beat this time.

I thought I had fallen in July despite using contraception, I was 10 days late. We were disappointed so decided lets go without and leave it to fate, the 3 cycles I had since stopping breastfeeding were all over the place and it took us 6 months before for me to fall, so I really didn't imagine it would happen immediately. It did and I am chuffed, but have found it difficult to tell others, even the ladies on my Parenting thread who are wonderful only found out a couple of weeks ago and that was because they kept guessing who will be next so I spilled the beans. Can't face telling work yet either.

Right I'm off to join you on the Due in May thread and hopefully my paranoia will leave me. Looking forward to sharing tips on prams and everything!

Take it easy - Lozzie x
