Hi Everyone, Sorry i haven't been on here for a while. I'm just finding it difficult to get a minute to myself. Helen, I'm still expressing. I'm expressing 6 times a day and it seems to be enough to get all Daniel's feeds. I've now dropped the the session between 1-5am as it was knackering. I'm hoping that the tablets will continue to work and my milk supply will be stabilised. Anna, thanks for the offer of a pump but i've already bought the medela swing elec pump. It seems OK. I don't get more with either pump but the electric pump sees margionally faster. Emily, not sure how you can gt Tommy to sleep for longer as Danial is exactly like that. He is not sleeping through the night. I was told that he may continue to be like thsi till he's on solids. OK, i've got to go now. I need to express now. What joy!

Well done Laurie on the expressing! Keep up the good work. What you are doing for Daniel is brilliant We are just doing controlled crying at the moment! I dont think the Tom is very impressed with us. He is screaming his heart out! We have left him for 5 minutes. DH has just gone to reassure him! He is still waking 2 to 3 times a night for a feed. I thought that they would of reduced by now!! Think I am going to persevere with the dummy at night to see if that works rather than latching him onto me! The only thing that makes me think I should feed him, is he will feed for a good 10 mins. This makes me think he is actually hungry, and the only thing that might help is introducing some solids! He is too young for solids though! Right, I am off to chill whilst DH sorts out our little monkey

Hi All Pleased you have a pump sorted now Laurie. Hope things calm down for you. My friend expressed for 6 weeks and then finally her boy would take the breast so dont give up if thats what you want to do. Emily - I read that babies can go through the night from a metabolic point of view when they weigh over 11 pounds - whether they will or not is a different story. Feeding for 10 mins to me does not sound like hunger - more like comfort - but hey what do i know? The controlled crying seems the right way to go. Perhaps he is waking out of habit? Gosh this is all so hard isnt it. Aidan started sleeping through after i took him for Bowen Therapy to help with his colic. Its like reflexology but its points in the back as babies can get all squashed in the womb and in delivery and things can get out of kilter. The therapist only took 5 mins (and i heard a click like something moving back into place) and after 2 days his colic went and he started sleeping. It only cost me a tenner!! Someone in my baby group told me about it. Got to be worth a try. Anna

Laurie, you should be so proud of the way you have perservered(SP??) with the bf, you make me feel quite embarassed about giving up so easily! Emily, I wish I could tell you how to get Tommy to sleep through, I have no idea, and do feel for you. Does he sleep alot during the day? Have you tried looking at some of these books that tell you how to get your baby into a routine? One friend of mine swears by the baby whispher book, and another by the contented baby. (I know the contented baby is very strict, it was the book to have when I had Emily, and although there was some useful things, I can't have my life that structured) Get yourself into Waterstones and have a flick through them!! Then order from Amazon! Another friend used reflexology and within days the baby seemed contented! I love reflexolgy (and swear it helped me to get pregnant after years of trying!) so I would give that ago! Good luck Emily with the contorlled crying and sorry about my waffling! hi to everyone else, things have been very busy here. Emily has not been enjoying school because of some older girls in the playground, who think she is a doll! They keep picking her up! When she tried to run away from them they chased her caught her and scratched her face by accident. She was so upset but then so was I, and I hate the thought of anyone upsetting her, but dh has told me she needs to fight her own battles. So now I have told her to stay close to her own friends then the older girls will leave her alone. Any way must go off to do lunch!!

Emily, I was told that controlled crying should only be introduced when the baby is 6-9months old. It's all due o 'cause & effect'. Good luck anyhow. I shan't be doing that until Daniel is 6 months & only to wean him off the dummy. If you think that Tommy is feeding enough during the day try giving him cooled water when he wakes up. Apparently this works (didn't work on Daniel though!) Anna, bowen theraphy spunds good. I'm going to google it to see if there is any in my area. It's brilliant that Aidan is sleeping through the night. Daniel is still waking up 2-3 times a night. Helen, I'm sorry that Emily is going through a tough time at school. She's too young to go through that. I hope that your advice will work & that the older girls will leave her alone when she's surrounded by her friends. As for the bf, i'm trying really hard for Daniel's sake. I feel that if i give up now then i'm too selfish and feel very guilty. Daniel can now have one feed from me and the rest from the bottle.... so it sort of working out. I'm aiming to get him back to the breast so that i can have a life! OK, i'm off to watch eastenders. Haven't watched it for a while now, so i'd better make the most of it.

Thanks for the link Anna. BTW has anyone got any of Annael Karmel books? I need to buy some books but i can't see the difference between the baby & toddler meal planner and the 100 puree. Guess i'm confused because i don't know what weaning involves! My HV says to start on finger food. The other HV said to start with purees! I'm not sure what to do.

Hi Laurie, I have got the Baby and Toddler Meal Planner and another one - Superfoods. I swear by them! Even now Emily loves her food. I would start with purees and then move on to finger foods. I started firstly with baby rice before adding fruit and veggie purees. (Sweet potato was a firm favourite!). The baby and toddler meal planner covers everything you need including the purees! And she explains everything about the different stages of weaning. Money well spent!!!

Helen, Thanks for your response. I'll order the books now. I'm going to start off with the baby & toddler meal planner. If she covers the puree in the book then there isn't a reason for me to buy the 100 puree book is there?

welcome back Tigger, did you have a fab holiday?? Lots of sunshine and rest? Remember to post some holiday snaps! Now its back to reality....washing and housework! Laurie, I think you could get away with just the one book, at the end of the day the baby and toddler planner is a guide and then you could go ahead and puree anything! Or do as I do, lurk in Waterstones reading the books for ideas!! Emily had all home made food and I did try to experiment with different tastes and she has an amazing appetite now for someone so small! I really enjoy it when they start feeding themselves and the food gets EVERYWHERE! Hi to everyone else,it has gone rather quiet. Where is supermum??? Hope you are ok Emma, proably just got your hands full with 3 children and half term!!

Helen, Does the baby & toddler guide include any recipes? Tigger, glad that you had a good holiday. Nothing new to report apart from my trying to buy a babyhawk sling. They come in so many pretty colours though... and i'm finding it really hard to choose!

Laurie it is full of receipes from purees, through to food for toddlers.(some of them make great family meals too) Tells you what can be frozen etc.. It also gives you ideas on plannning their weekly meals. When I had Emily I knew nothing about weaning etc..but the book tells you everything you need to know!!
