Hi emily, i decided to do a routine and started it that day, all at the same time, bath at 7 ish, bottle after bath and bed at 8 (or as close to 8 as i could if sam was still drinking his milk). i have to admit i felt awful at first putting him to bed but i wanted him to have a good sleep routine as soon as possible before he got too old and we had problems getting him to bed like you see on the telly on supernanny !! lol. He loves it in his cot he sleeps in a grobag and looks all snuggly

Your plan sounds like a good one!!
I just WISH I could get Tom to love his cot!

I have started an afternoon nap routine today - put him in his cot, rather than sleeping wherever he falls asleep.
Tackling his cot is going to feel easier in the day than it does at night surely????

My god. I am having such a bad day!!! Frowner

I am also going to start trying a bed time story!
I know he wont understand what is being read yet, but hoepfully hearing my voice might help to calm and reassure him.

Out of interest Meg, before you started your routine, what time was Sam going to bed???

Emily,

I would definetly go with the bath, feed and bed routine. I used to do it the same time (ish ) every day even if they wake up for a feed an hour later. I would then feed them in the dark and put them back to bed. I know they say don't let them fall asleep on you but, mine were always quite drowsy, now I can put Daniel down awake and he will nod off by the time I close his curtains.
But don't expect too much from yourself in the first day, even if you get him to have 1 nap in his cot thats a success!!!
And a story is a great idea, mine now both have it together!

Really hope you day got better.

((((Big Hugs)))))

Emily I don't know if this is any use for during the day, but I find that Daniel can only stay awake for 2-2.5 hours before needing a nap of some kind. Once its approaching 2 ish hours if I can get him in his cot he goes to sleep, if I can;t he gets over tired and then I can't get him in his cot. DOes that make sense?

Anyway off to get her highness from school , will check out how you are getting on later.xx

Hello Ladies
Thank you Helen for your advice
Very helpful.
I have already chosen the book for tonight..... Roald Dahl Smiler Smiler

I am feeling slightly more positive tonight, but still feel pretty low.

DH is just playing with Tom on the floor, giving him a kick around to tire him out before bed.

I am going to go and bath him in a tick.

we are also going to give him a bottle of formula later. I am beginning to get to the point where I cant cope with all of our little problems, so its better we compromise I think. I am going to express whilst DH gives him the bottle to keep my boobies producing nicely Smiler

Right, best go and bath my little boy!
Then the challenge begins......

Oh I hope its an easier night tonight!!???

Emma, i'm full of admiration for you. I think that you are a super woman! How do you manage looking after 3 kids, the house & pointing the chimney?! Oh and let's not forget the chart! I'm struggling with one baby!

Helen, i'm so jealous! Daniel is waking me up 2-3 times a night. I should be grateful really as he was waking me up every hour.

Emily, good luck with the bedtime routine, it really does work. I have nothing to add as you've been given brilliant advice already. I'm also doing the bedtime routine but I start mine at 5pm and it takes me a couple of hours. On a good day, come 7pm Daniel is in his cot asleep!

Hello Meg & Cass, I don't think that we've met.

Just wanted to share what i've been up to... I'm now expressing 100% of the time and giving the EBM to Daniel as he refuses to feed from my breast Frowner He only feeds off me when he's upset or drowsy. Expressing is such ahrd work. I feel like i'm neglecing my baby as i spend the majority of my time expressing, washing the pumps & bottles & sterilisng. I sometimes feel like a failure!

Daniel had his 2nd jabs today. Poor babes cried his eyes out. Also, his weight is now 12lbs 8oz and is 13+5 weeks. He's not gaining weight and has dropped 3 curves. The HV said i might need to give him formula now Frowner

Does anyone get the impression that i'm having a bad day today?! Ok, enough self pity from me.

Goodnight all x

Hi Emily, hope you are having a better day today ((hugz)). It can really drag you down when you are tired, even though sam sleeps good at night i still have days where im nackered so god knows how you feel, keep your chin up hun it will get better. Before i started sam's routine he would sleep in his moses basket in the lounge and we would carry him up to bed when we went to bed which was fine the first couple of weeks after he was born but then i started noticing that he wasnt settling downstairs thats when i started his routine and he settled much better upstairs. It may take a while for tom to get used to a new routine it did with sam but now after 5 weeks of doing it it is working well. The story sounds a fab idea. I always loved roald dahl books when i was little (still do im a big kid at heart lol)
Dont feel bad about giving tom formula. I know that they say 'breast is best' and all that but i have bottle fed sam from the start and he is doing great. I think there is too much emphasis on breast feeding so long as the babies are happy, contented and gaining weight that should be the main thing. I have to smile to myself tho because if i had a pound for every time relatives and friends have asked me if im breast or bottle feeding id be a very rich lady indeed Big Grin

Hi Laurie

Hi to everyone else hope you are ok too.

It is lovely and sunny here today and im stuck in the house waiting for the chap to come and install sky tv. We had sky a few years ago but cancelled it because it wasnt very good but they are doing a good offer at the minute which includes broadband and phone. (have had to do something about the phone our last BT bill was huge) thats the trouble being at home i guess, not good esp when im the worlds biggest chatterbox !!

Has anyone had a look at Summer1971's photo montage, it is lovely, warning tho girls make sure youv'e got a tissue to hand it was so lovely it made me cry

Hi everyone,

I have had a really busy day and Daniel has had his 2nd lot of injections. He wasn't too pleased at having them done and made quite a perfomance in the dr's.
I have sent most of the morning going from shop to shop trying to buy Emily some tights....and none of them had any size 3-4 that were nice. I found a couple the right size but disgusting patterns on them. aaaggghhh
We have booked Daniels christening for November, and already my mum is trying to take over with the guest list and I am taking bets as to whether or not MIL from hell turns up! (She will probably be busy)

So how is everyone else today. Emily how are you and Tom getting on with your routine. I hope you are feeling better today, sleep deprivation is the worse thing going.

Laurie, how are you today?? I realise I am soooo lucky with my Daniel sleeping through. If the HV suggests formula maybe it will be best, especialy if he is not gaining weight. Poor you!

Hi Emma, Meg and everyone else hope you are all ok. By the way has anyone heard from Anna, she seems to have disappeared off the radar.

Speak soon
H

Hi all,

Helen, hope that you find some tights for Emily. I've been trying to find some for Daniel (to keep him warm during our outings) and i can't find any plain white ones. Daniel had his second set of jabs yesterday and he also wasn't a happy bunny. He's been sleeping for most today and hasn't been feeding well. It's a constant battle at the moment trying to get him to feed.

Looked at Mandy's montage and it's so fab. It inspired me to do one for Daniel.

Morning Everyone
Hope you are all well???

We are ok at this end, had a reasonable nights sleep. Tom slept in his cot for 3 hours!! So we are making some progress. Although he didnt go to sleep until 11pm!!! Myself and DH went out for a meal together last night and my Mum and Dad came to babysit!! They dont appear to be into encouraging a routine, so had him downstairs playing with him until we got home!! Oh well, we shall start again today with the routine!! Smiler

DH is self employed and is a contractor. He has been working 20 min drive down the road, but as from Monday, he is back up to London with a 3 hour each way communite on the train Frowner Frowner Frowner I have a feeling its going to feel like I am a single Mummy for a while Frowner Frowner Frowner Hence we went out for dinner last night as we are not going to be able to do that again for some time! Oh well, if I want the life that we have, someone has to go out to work and pay for it!!!! I am just so pleased that I can stay at home with my little Tommy x x x

Tom has his first jabs on Monday, so I have all this to look forward to!!!

Laurie - you can buy little cotton trousers with feet attached from Mothercare! They may help solve your tight problem! Worth a try I suppose???

I have just gone to do my mornings expressing and my £85 pump that I have had for 8 weeks has just packed in!! I am not impressed! You cant use it without the electic plugged in, and at the moment it wont even turn on! I am crap at hand expressing, and if I dont express my boobies will explode!! I dont have a car today as it has gone for a service, so I cant even go out and buy a cheap £20 one! Aggghhh what do I do????

Oh well, I hope this is not the start of a bad day???

Take care everyone and I will check in again later
LOve to you all

Em

PS Yes your right Helen - where is Anna!!! And where is Little???

Hi Em,

Can't you return the pump? It should be under warrnety shouldn't it? I can just about hand express but i'm pretty rubbish at it. I've been borrowing my friend's medela elec pump and it's so noisy! I need to buy one of own as i'm exclusively feeding Daniel EBM. Would you recommend the Avent one?

Also, I was looking to buy tights for Daniel to wear under his jeans/trousers as i'm usually out & about and don't want him to catch a chill.

Sorry that your DH is workig so hard but it really is a blessing. I think that i might need to start work again in January and it's FULL TIME Frowner I so don't want to go back. I've really enjoyed being with Daniel and loathe the idea of leaving him to work.

Helen & Em,

I can understand why Anna & Little haven't been here.

I found it really hard to have time to myself and to log on here. I so hope that they come back to us!
