Still no news from Meg then, but I am sure she has had her baby but is just a bit busy to post. Seems the boys won the day in July babies!

How is everyone??Laurie is was great to hear from you, such a shame Daniel has colic and reflux. I hope things get better for you. I think I said in an earlier post my friend took her baby to see an osteopath (?) or something like that. It worked wonders, only needed about 4/5 sessions. Another friend had a mixture to make up and feed to the baby prior to their milk, similar to what Maria suggested. It was recommended by the Health Visitor, she said it was a pain having to make this stuff up but again worked wonders. Has your HV suggested anything?? I imagine you must be quite tired, at least you are staying with your mum for support.

Emily, how are you and Tom doing??

Emma not sure how you find the time to post wih 3 children?? I am just getting used to having 2, strapping 2 into the car etc.. I am finding Emily is more demanding than Daniel at the moment, she is craving attention. Any tips??

Tigger, meant to say where are you going on holiday?? I am soooo jealous, but DH reminded me I did go away in March.

Hello to everyone else.
well I am feeler a lot better, I have stopped moaning about the builders, I just have to get on with it. Daniel is very regular with his feeds and sleeps already, so I can plan things. I don't seem so tired even though I am getting up in the night.

Take care everyone

Wow Emma how have you got him going 6 hours already...how jealous am I??

We have really involved Emily in the nappy changing etc.. and she is great wih Daniel, but at the moment if she doesn't get her own way, she sobs hysterically! And she doesn't like people visiting us, picking Daniel up. She is craving attention from DH and if he dare kiss me goodbye first then its all over for her!! I suppose she is just so used to being the one and only!

hi! not too confident toda as she is suffering from colic, giving infacol drops and using gripe water. health visitor said that is all i can do, although she seems to like having a break from her nappy for a bit, where she just lies on a towel with nthing on and kicks. anyway, she is screamin again, so better go try and feed her!
btw, im goin to tenerife! my grandad booked the holiday last september, and i had to tell him at xmas bout erin. good thing is we now get our own apartment rather than having to share with my nan, grandad, mum and sister! and i can't wait!!!

hi girls how are we all today

helen dont worry it sounds like the usual behavior when an only child has to get used to not being the centre of your universe, but the bright side is comming i promise for the first week or two you get the happy proud 'big sister' when she will sit next to him and point out to anyone that will listen that ''this is our new baby'' then she realises that the baby is here to stay and will get very posessive and teritorial but this will pass as fast as stage one the she will settle to life as 'normal' as for people picking up the baby try to get some to offer to take emily to the park for a while so she dosent feel like everyone is just intrested in the baby.

tigger sorry about the colic have you tried putting erin in just a nappie and vest then swaddling her tightly as this can help with the tummyache and also will help her to sleep.Smiler

well we went to gulivers kingdom today and it was great fun except all those hills but will deffinatly help to tone my bum and tum with all the walking i have been doing lately. not much else to report today really so back tomorrow oh we have got the healthvisitor tomorrow so will let you know how we get on.

back tomorrow bye

Hi All,

Thank you all for the colic advice. I was advised to use infacol drops for the colic. Gripe water is only to be used once the baby is 4 weeks old, or so i've been told. Reflux is causing a bigger problem as he's throwing up after every feed. And because he's throwing up he gets hungry and i need to feed him every 45-60mins! It's been a nightmare as i feel that i can't do anything as he's always attached to my breasts!

Also, Daniel is a little monster at the moment but it's not his fault. He's either sleeping sporadically or screaming the house down. He's not sleeping well at all.

I won't do personals as there is alot that i need to catch up on! It's hard not having the net the at my parents. Hopefully, the line should be fixed by next week and i'll be able to log on every now & then. I might start texting some of you ladies till the internet is up & running here.

How is everyone getting on? BTW is everyone using cotton wool & water for nappy cleaning?

OK, got to go & have a cuppa whilst Daniel is sleeping. Got to take my breaks whenever i can.

Love & congratulations to all

Laurie

PS
Can anyone tell me how i can change the banners at the bottom of my posts?

OK, i've caught up a little,

Tigger, how fantastic that you are going on holiday! My family are all going to the Middle East in September but i'm not going as i don't want to subject Daniel to the TB jab.

Helen, i think that what Emily is feeling is natural. She's been the centre of your world for the last 4 years or so.... now Daniel has come along & she's not sure how to handle it. Good on you for involving her in the nappy changes.

Emily, If Tom is tongue tied, you can get it cut can't you?

Emma, 6 hour sleep? That sounds fab! But i was told that babies shouldn't go without feed for a maximum for 4 hrs only? Oh it's so confusing when all MW & HE are giving conflicting advice.

Have to go as Daniel is crying his head off now Frowner

well katy is fantastic! she sleeps through the night nearly, (from 1.30am till 5, or 4.30 and she is never sick, you never have to wind her! shes latching on fine, and i put her on the dummy as from day 1! the mw said dont put her on a dummy at newborn, and the hospital said im the mother, its my choice, but since shes been on the dummy, she has taken better to latching on! also i express twice a day as my milk is well in now!
she is so contented its unreal, i was calling her a boring baby in hospital coz she seemed like the only one that didnt cry!
she never cries, only when she wants feeding and she doesnt even cry then, only grizzles a little, so weve called her grizzle as her nickname.
i cant believe its been a week already. it only seemed like yesterday i was out of hospital!

people say that the first week is the hardest, but it hasnt been with us, its been fab! she is so laid back she is horizontal! when shes not sleeping, she just gazes into peoples eyes and makes funny faces! its funny!
now lets get on to the birth story!!

well thursday night 26th at 11pm i really started, well id been starting all thursday day, but they hadnt been strong enough, but the mw told us to go and have a hot curry, sex and a pint of strongbow after my sweep on wed, so thats what we did, and then it started!
pains all through thursday night, so at 4am fri morning DH rang his dad and we went packing off to hospital, only to be checked and told i was 1cm dialated, and not in enough pain to have anything, or be kept in, well i could be kept in but DH would have had to go home.
the hospital said, go to the local midwife centre later on midday to get checked out.
my mum then came home with us, and stopped with me, we started timing and writing down the contractions, and they were coming every 2 mins, to 5 mins apart and ive had 20 in an hour at one stage.at about 2pm mum took me to the midwife centre and she checked me and i was 3-4 cms and on my way!! i was happy, the mw was happy and sent me off packing!
we came home and got my dad, who wasnt in my birth plan but came with us anyway, and we headed off to calow hosp.this was about 3.30pm
at about 4pm they gave me gas and air! good shit!! was all i kept saying, aparently i started saying gobbledegok taking about swat teams and vcrs and reciting the whole mcdonalds menu!
they checked me again about 6pm and i was at 5cms, they gave me 2 epidurals as the first one didnt work, but neither did the second, as half an hour later i could stand on my feet and walk around!
they put me a drip in to speed up the contractions and apparently i pulled it out, so they put me another one in the other hand and i pulled that one out aswell, i was like a woman possessed as my mum said. apparently i was thrashing about and they had to hold me down! i also had two pethadine shots and they didnt work either, i think the only thing that did work was the gas and air, and was i high on it!!!
well at about 2am, i was really pushing for england, and the mw said dont let her push under any circimstances as the head will become swollen,, so they were best trying for me not to push, and the mw went out the room for a min, and my mum looked under the sheet, and the head was out! she pushed the emergency panic button, and about 3 midwifes came running in and within 30 secs she was delivered, they said it was the fastest one this year! 26 1/2 hr labour and a 58 second delivery!! i had a little tear but no stitches!.happy days xxx
