4 more days to go, days to go til holiday...

i can't sleep for excitement!! hooray hooray!!!

sorry, just looking forward to friday! hope ur all ok. erin slept through til 8am on saturday, 9am yesterday, and is still asleep today! i'm gonna start puttin her to bed that little bit earlier i think, cos she is sleepin so well. she cluster feeds in the evenin from bout 5pm onwards, i feel like i don't have much milk too emily, but she's gettin some there, cos she usually manages to sick it up on my jeans Roll Eyes babyusa was right, it is the fattier milk they get then, cos when erin feeds for longer, she puts more weight on. i do use a bottle too sometimes, but thats just cos she's greedy! ur doin well, keep it up! my hv said she was amazed that i stuck at it, she gave up after 6 weeks. most people i know did, other than a few at baby club, so we're all doin great. that's not that there's anythin bad with givin bottles, i do both! so please don't take offence anyone! anyway, got some more clothes to pack, talk later!

Morning everyone. Tigger bet you are soooo excited. Its so different going on holiday with children, because you need to take so much more for them and they don't get a luggage allowance! Have a great time, take advantage of the family being able to help you and relax!!!!

Emma, what were you doing on the roof?!?!?

Hope everyone else is ok. I have just done my exercise dvd as Daniel is fast asleep. I suppose I now better make an effort with the housework.

Catch you all later
xx

Good morning,
I need a bit of advice. I think Abigail may be getting her first cold. She woke up sunffly this morning and has coughed a few times. She seems quite happy, maybe a little sleepier than usual and is feeding ok. She doesn't have a high temperature but she does sound a bit wheezy. Could this be a reaction to her 8 week jabs which she had 6 days ago? I thought it would have been sooner if it was.
I just wondered how poorly babies have to be before a trip to the doctor. I don't want to look like an over-anxious new mum!

How bizarre Cas, Daniel has his first cold, he too is snuffly and has been coughing. He is due his second lot of injections on Thursday. It may well be Abigail has had a reaction as I think that they can react anything up to a week after. (But I may well be wrong). However it could just be a cold,as it is now that time of year when we all start coughing and such like! Anyway none of that was any use, but I hope she gets better soon!

And forgot to say, there is nothing wrong in being an over protective mum!!!! When Emily was 6 months old, I went through a stage of taking her every week because she had temperatures, being sick, rashes etc.....After then seeing a different GP it turned out she had slapped cheek. So my advice if you are ever concerned go, better to be safe than sorry!

I am so tired at night time that I cannot cope with persuing getting him to sleep in his cot! But I am going to have to!!!
Any ideas from anyone PLEASE!!!!! Frowner Frowner

I feel such a bad mother at the moment because of it!!!

Emily, Abigail is the same. She will only sleep in bed with me at night or on my lap during the day. I know these are really bad habits but I have tried all the methods suggested in the books. She just seems to hate being on her own. I hate listening to her cry but have resorted to controlled crying. Some people say this does not work before 6 months but some of my friends swear by it. Well, I put her in her crib at 5.25pm after a feed, a burp and a nappy change. I have been going in every few minutes so she knows I'm still here but she is still crying! She hasn't been crying continuously, she has been asleep on and off but she won't stay asleep.
It's horrible but my other half has said she can't sleep in bed with us anymore as she is getting too big and is waking him up! I quite like her being close to me but I know she should be in her crib.

hi girls

emily sorry you are having sleeping problems. the only thing i can sudgest to get him in to his cot would be controlled crying but it is so hard to do when you are tired, i know how you feel as we went through this with rach, but we did nothing about it untill she was nearly 1 and it is so hard to get them out of the habit i think it took us about a month of screaming and bad sleep so it is deffinately a good idea to sort it out now as it is only supposed to take a few days to sort at this age? i would try doing it at the weekend though so if you dont get much sleep you and hubby can take it in turn to nap in the day.Winkgood luck if i think of anything else will let you know.

cas there is nothing wrong with taking her to the doctors if you feel worried. but the genral thing i go by is if they seem happy in themselves are still feeding having wet and dirty nappies and not got a fever above 39c then she will be fine but also if she has alot of dirty appies and is sick alot then take her to the doctors. but it sounds as though she has just got the snuffles jake has them a few weeks ago and was feeling really sorry for himself Frowner

tigger i know you dont have a big luggage allowace but do you think i would fit in your case Big Grin. i want a holiday. make sure you relax and have a good time.

helen did you get the housework done? has emily started all day now?

helen i was on the roof because i was pointing the chimny it is where you fill the gaps between the brickwork with cement so it wont blow down it any bad wind over the winter. dean is scared of hights and a builder would cost a couple of hundred pound and as i was brought up in a building family i borrowet the ladders off my grandad and did it my selfBig Grin.

well today i have been soo lazy have done nothing but the school run and clean up so feel really bad now but am going to soak in the bath for an hour in a min Wink

bye

hi to everyone else

Hi girls, hope everyone is ok and babies are happy Smiler

Emily - I know what you mean about the crying it pulls on your heart strings. Scrummy Sam's bedtime works quite well, he has a bath, bottle and then bed and i do this at the same time each night. When i settle him in his cot the room is dark but i leave the door open with our landing light dimmed on low. It can take him an hour to settle sometimes but i just go up to him put his dummy in and stroke his head (he loves that) and then come back downstairs, i keep talking to him to a minimum. This seems to do the trick although some nights im up and down the stairs a few times before he settles but then on other nights he will go spark out.I have been doing this routine for about a month now and i think he recognises the 'wind down' to bedtime. Likewise with his feed in the night i feed him, wind him and then put him straight in his cot and get into bed myself and turn the light off and he drifts off to sleep on his own. Stick with it hun little tommy will soon respond x

Tigger - have a fab holiday

Emma - lol at you pointing the chimney, you are brave going up that high !! (thanks for doing our chart it looks ace Big Grin )

Helen - wow little daniel is doing great sleeping through the nights. Sam is good he will be in bed by 8ish and will sleep through till about 2.30 - 3.30 ish and wake for a feed then go back to sleep. I think sam likes his grub too much to miss a feed lol lol !!

Well i've not had a very good week. Sam had his jabs last tuesday and although he cried his eyes up (like he has never cried before) he was ok after but when i took him i asked the doctor to have a look at his big toe as it looked a little red, he said it was ok but as the week went on it was getting worse and ended up bright red and swollen so i took hom back to the docs on friday and he has got an infection in it Frowner and is on antibiotics. I was worried because they have give him penicillin and i am allergic to that but the doctor checked with the hospital and they said just because im allergic doesnt mean sam will be.However ive still been watching him like a hawk. When we got up sunday morning he had a rash on the back of his neck, i panicked, did the tumbler test which was ok and took him to the out of hours docs at the local hospital and it was only heat rash PHEW !!

Being a mummy is the best thing ever but i never realised the worry that would come with it i swear i'll be grey and wrinkled by the time im thirty !!! lol lol

Speak to you soon girls, sorry for the mammoth post, Sam is snoozing so thought i'd have a catch up

Meg
Thank you for your post
It has been very useful
I think poor Tommy doesnt know whether he is coming or going! I dont do anything at the same time. So I think we need to get a routine!!

8pm sounds a reasonable time to go to sleep. We had managed to get Tom to sleep at 10pm (previously it was 1am!! aggghhhh) but last night he wouldnt go to sleep until 12am Frowner
He then woke up at 4 and stayed awake until 8am! Now he is asleep agghgghhhhhh

So today we are going to start a routine! We have to do something hey!!!!

I hope everyone else is ok???
Any news??

Will catch up later x x

Hi emily, lol sam used to do that before i started his routine he would have a restless night and then fall asleep and snooze all morning !! But now he has got really good, he will go to bed at 8pm will settle within the half hour or an hour sometimes and then he will sleep through til 2.30am/3.30am, wake up have a bottle and will snooze again until 6.00/7.00am ish which isnt bad going really. It will prob be a bit hit and miss to start with, it was a bit with sam but like i said yesterday he soon realised the 'wind down' to bed and im sure little tommy will be the same x

Hi to everyone else hope you are ok too.

Did anyone see 'bringing up baby' on channel 4 last night ? I definately couldnt do the 1950's approach, i agree that they have to have a routine but babies also need lots of cuddles.

Has anyone ever had the studio christmas catalogue (they advertise it on the telly). There are some cute baby's first christmas things in there. I have ordered sam a baby's first chritmas bauble for the tree. You can have them personalised so mine will say ' baby samuel's first chrismas 2007' aaawww its so cute, i have also ordered him a baby's first christmas stocking with his name on it. i absolutely love xmas i cant wait this year to have our first family xmas !!

oh, had sam weighed on monday and he is now 13lb 14oz Eeker he's a little chunky monkey !!
