Hi
Did anyone see "Bringing up baby" on channel 4 last night? It was really interesting. Made me feel a bit better about feeding on demand and co-sleeping.
Abigail had her first lot of jabs yesterday. I was expecting trouble and had the calpol on standby but she was absolutely fine. She even slept in her crib for 3 hours!
Her crazy evening feeding seems to have calmed down too. She only put on 8oz this week after every other week when she'd been putting on almost a pound!
Hope everyone else is ok,
Cas x

Hello All,

Sorry that it's been ages since i last posted. I've been really busy with Daniel and have been finding it hard to get online.

I'm off to get him weighed now. Will post later on, probably late at night when Daniel's in bed.

Hope that everyone is well.

Hi everyone,

Not sure where to start, so i'll just run through what's been going on since i last posted.

I've been diagnosed with PND. Wasn't interested in taking the tablets so i'm just have counselling for it and it seems to be working.

My milk supply has gone right down and now i'm on domperidone. Too early to tell whether the tablets are working as this is my only 2nd day of taking them. I hope that it works out as i'd hate Daniel to be on formula this early on.

Daniel's has got reflux and is back on gaviscon again. He's still being sick and i've requested a 2nd appt at the hospital. If they aren't helpful then i'll try Bupa and see whether i have better luck.

I think that's it? Oh and i've been doing baby massage and it's fab! Also, will be taking Daniel swimming for the 1st time next week.... or as soon as i've bought a swiming suit for me. I've already bought his and it looks so cute!

It's been a me me post and i'm sorry about that. I'll try and read the old posts so that i can catch up on the goss.

Good night x

Hi Girls.

OMG my heart goes out to lea.

I watched that baby programme last night it was interesting, i felt really sorry for the mum who was upset no wonder tho not being able to cuddle or have eye contact with her baby. I like the Dr Spock theory the best it will be interesting to see what happens.

Samuel had his jabs yesterday he was ok bless him and he slept for three hours when we got back home. ****MOAN ALERT ***** my HV is a right drippy mare got to the docs yesterday and she couldnt weigh him because she had no scales, i had to ask her to do his length measurement and they didnt bother measuring his head either. I mentioned sam's feeding to her because 6 weeks ago she told me to stick with the first milk as the second milk is harder for them to digest. She said that he will be fine on first milk until weaning but the last week i havent been able to fill samuel up and he has been feeding every couple of hours in the day and apart from those three good nights sleep he has been feeding every 3 hours. I said to my hubby that the first milk wasn't satisfying him but because the HV said not to put him on second milk i was relunctant to do it so when i went yesterday i explained that the first milk wasnt enough for him and she said that he should be on second milk now GRRR
Mad I didnt bother to say well you told me not to put him on it but i was thinking it !! im not gonna listen to her anymore silly sausage !!

I have had a nice birthday today and had a lovely card off Samuel and a 'worlds greatest mummy ' mug and a cherished teddy. AAwwww it was lovely

Hope everyone is ok x
Hope everyone is ok

Hi there everyone, I'm so sorrI haven't posted in a few days! First of all, thank you Emma for posting the ages! And thanks for putting my son who is 8 weeks (god hard to believe!) So thanks again sweety for thinking of my son.
Everything is going wonderful everyone. My baby's doctor made a mistake on his weight, they said 11 lbs, but he's actually 9 lbs 8 oz. He is now 23 inches long from the 19 inches he was born at. His feedings are going well. He's between 4-6 oz and sleeping almost through the night now! (Momma has been able to get sleep YAY lol) He has his cranky days of course, but most of the time he's content, likes to watch tv, it's funny. I put the tv on and he lays on his back with his head turned toward the tv and just watches and watches. It's sooooooooooooooooooo cute. I guess the colors and objects stimulate his brain. He also loves his baths. He cries of course as we're putting him in the bath tubby but as soon as the warmth of the water hits him, he relaxes, calms down, and just enjoys it. He loves baths now.
My son doesn't do well on milk-based formula, so since birth we've had him on Similac's "Isomil Soy Advance". Expensive stuff, $25.00 per can.
The other day I was eating apple sauce, and just gave him a tiny little taste. Oh how hilarioius, his face puckered up and made a sour looking expression. I haven't laughed that hard in days. I love babies expressions to new stuff!!!
I just wanted to tell everyone we're doing great and edward is now in bigger diapers of course. Winnie the pooh diapers made by Pampers. It's so adorable.
Love to you all,
Crystal

Hi everyone
Emma I know what you mean about missing your holiday, it makes me so jealous of Tigger even though we did go away in april. So I went and booked our summer holiday for next year and we are going to Spain, only because its a short flight. At least it is something to look forward to.

Cas I did see that bringing up baby. HOW do you leave a baby out in the cold with the back door shut!?!?!? Especially now adays with so many weirdos about. I agree they need a routine but they do eventually fall into one themselves. And I could never not cuddle Daniel, why bother having a baby if you don't do any bonding?

Laurie, glad to see you back on here. My Daniel's reflux has gotten worse, but he is still gaining weight so nothing to worry about just erratic feeding, however most nights he is sleepign right through now, so must be getting enough during the day. He has the gaviscon as well. My gp has told me that she will be suggesting he is weaned earlier than the 6 months because of the condition. How are you coping are you getting lots of support? I am pleased the counselling is working for you.

Meg I agree some HV's are wet weekends!! Go with you gut instinct every time!

Well we have been going to mother and baby and baby massage and lots of walks. I had Daniel weighed yesterday and he is 11lb. Hope everyone else is ok.

Hi

Helen, it's good that your Daniel is putting on weight, mine is too. But the refux is horrible isn't it? Daniel just cries alot befoe vomiting, and once he vomits he starts smiling... must be his sense of relief!

How are you finding baby massage? I've only got one course left to do and it's been ok so far. I've found that Daniel does not like it during his bedtime routine and he's now having it in the morning.

Emma, thanks for keeping Daniel in the chart.

Hi to everyone else.

Also, does anyone recommend sing and sign?

Which nappy is everyone using?

I started with huggies but it didn't keep Daniel dry so i switched to Pampers. But i get really leaky nappies with them Frowner I've got so many stained sleepsuits now.

Oh, and it's good to be back.... i've missed you all.

Hi
We are currently using a combination of disposables and reusables. We use disposables at night and if we're out and the reusables-Totsbots at home. I wasn't keen at first but my OH really wanted to try reusables and I am actually quite impressed with them. They are almost as quick and easy as disposables and feel so soft. We have also had significantly less leakages with the reusables. They do need changing more often though as they are not as absorbent.
I prefer the Huggies disposables, we have also tried Pampers and Sainsbury's own brand.

hey guys!

forgot to say yesterday, erin has weighed in this week at 13lb 1oz! so she's goin well! as for nappies, i've found that the huggies leak more. not sure why, though the pampers are easier to get round erins legs, and are more flexible. she's in the size 3 now. must admit one thing that annoyed me, had to get swim nappies for the holiday and you can't get them any smaller than a size 4. they're gonna bury erin! anyway, went to see a nursery today and its really nice, though they have one a bit closer to work so i'll go and see that after my holiday. well, off for food now while erin is sleeping!
