Its just I've read loads of different info about it. Some woman still make them up and put them in the fridge, some just make them up as they go along (which seems like a lot of waiting for the kettle to boil, then to cool then you've got to add the powder when theres a hungry baby) some just put the sterile water in the bottle then add powder when baby is ready - but some put the bottle in the fridge, some leave it on the side! Im just so confused!
Also, do you put the teats on the bottle? Weve bought an avent steriliser and theres loads of the discs you put on the bottle instead of the teat, but were do you keep the teat??? So confusing!
Can anyone make it less confusing for me?!
Thanks

The teats normally invert into the bottle underneath the discs so when you want the bottle you remove the disc and put the teat up the other way. With the twins i always made bottles up in advance, seeing how i had to make 48 a day when they were first born, if i didnt do it that way then i would spend all my day making bottles. Used to heat them up in a bowl of hot water, mind you we are going back nearly 5 years now and no doubt lots have changed since then. Basically i would suggest you try different ways and find out which suits you and your baby best.

when isabelle was having formula i used to sterilise the bottles, fill them with the water then leave them on the side for room temperature, i used to add the milk when needed and because they were on the side didnt need to heat them. you dont really need to use those discs with the avent bottles, when you put the lid on the bottles it pushes the teat down so it then becomes tight against the lid and is airtight - if that makes sense? you need to line the teat up with the circle thats on the top of the lid for it to work properly though - sorry if you already know that!
My son still has bottles and I put them on the side with the boiled water in, add the teats and lids then I add the powder when he needs the bottles. No heating needed and always a bottle ready and great if I go out as dont need to heat the bottle, just add the powder and go!
Don't panic about these things, you will find something that works for you and if not lots of mums with helpful tips.
Best Wishes Lorraine. xx

I think everyone does things differently, just do what you find easiest for you & your baby.
When Ben was first born I would make the bottle up as & when Ben was hungry but then I would have a screaming, crying hungry little man on my hands, demanding his feeds but after a few weeks of that I would make them up in advance usually on a night when Ben was in bed & put them in the fridge & reheat in the bottle warmer or even the microwave when he was hungry. I used to make sure I tested every bottle before giving him them to make sure it wasn't too hot or anything, this seemed to work best for us.
During the night when he was still taking a feed I would bring the bottle warmer upstairs with a bottle and have everything ready so not to disturb him to much when gving his feed during the night, it was so much better than having to go downstairs in the cold to sort everything out!

hey sorry to hear ur finding it all a bit much, it can take some getting use too,
when bailey was born we made bottles as and when as he was only 5lb and didnt take much milk less than an ounce at times so took very little time cooling but as he got bigger and taking more milk he was a set feed every 3 hours (got himself into that) so about 45 -30 mins before he was due to feed i would boil the kettle and poor it into the bottle put lid on and leave to cool as he started to stir i would add the milk and check temp usually needed a lil dip in the cold water just to help it cool a lil bit and this worked gredat fo us and during the night we would make the bottles in advance put them in the fridge then as we went to bed but them in a bottle therma bag as this kept them cold and had a bottle warmer upstairs and that was easy
going out and things all bottles are made in advance and kept in a therma bag
hope this helps, we also used avent bottles but never used the disks as had no need to aslong is teat is flat againt lid ur ok
good luck

In case it helps anyone we have recently bought a Lindum night nurse system for our bedroom, it keeps 2 bottles cold for eight hours and heats up a bottle when ready, no more trips to cold kitchen in middle of night
My health visitor said making up bottles in advance was ok for 24 hours but always store them at back of fridge so not affected by door opening and closing.
