My poor wee munchkin is having real problems at the minute and seems to be really constipated. She is pooing once a day (she normally does twice) but she's finding it really hard to get them out and they come out like rabbit droppings. (sorry, TMI!!!! ) Until now she's been a fantastic sleeper but the last two weeks she's been a nightmare - she seems to be in pain with tummy cramps, she tosses and turns and doesn't settle until she drops off from sheer exhaustion about 2am!!!! Her back teeth are coming through which doesn't help with her sleeping either
She has a healthy diet, lots of fresh fruit and veg, drinks lots of watered-down fruit juice and i give her tummy massages.
With DD I always find a few grapes or raisins seem to do the trick.
Also and I know this might sound strange but how about a small glass of coke? The coke has caffine in it and that can help, well it certainly did with my DD, she thought she was getting a treat and was really happy and I was using it to help her go!!
Good Luck

Prunes def! and my HV suggested shell-like veg (ie: Peas and sweetcorn) as the shell is harder to digest and helps shift it....def loads of water too. Try also massageing her tum in the bath (warm water sometimes helps)
Hugs for Eilidh!

Hi Looocy, my little girl was severly constipated, one time we ended up taking her to a&e because she was just in tears and exhausted just trying to poo. I must say that her constipation was due to her milk, she was on a prescription milk which the dr forgot to say would make her get this way. anyway, she was prescribed lactulose by the dr, its just a sugar solution really and helps line the bowel with the sucrolose it needs to help the poo pass through (think thats it - all seems like such a long time ago now!). Its completely harmless and theres nothing medicinal in it. Only a small amount is needed to help get things on the move, id really recommend it!
Thanks so much for the advice - OMG coke!!! She is hyperactive enough without caffeine in her system!!!! But I'll give it a try if things don't get sorted out this weekend - hopefully things will be on the move soon!!!!
Hi Looxy, is she old enough for orange juice earlier, my boyf work in a hospital and asked a doc becuase my alicia has the same problem every so often. the doc suggested putting some fresh orange juice into a bottle, then standing the bottle in a jug of boiling water to warm up just for a minute or two like you would her milk.
