Hey folks, Bit ratty at the mo, so not going to harp on about us, HOWEVER I wanted to sympathise with all the mums of colicky babies, and share my only tip (it was brill for us, but no guarantees) I always lay Alice on her tummy as the slight abdominal pressure is comforting, Sonny is very grunty and hard to settle, and so we think he has a VERY mild dose, so have tried this with him too and it seems to do the trick most of the time. Ok, so assume the position - tee hee - Lay baby along your arm facing the floor, with their crotch resting in the palm of your hand, and their head in the crook of your elbow, and use your other hand to rub/pat their back. OR sit with your legs together, and lay baby face down across your knees, and again do the back rubbing/patting thing. The plus side is the awful screaming usually stops or at least diminishes, the only down saide is you spend a lot of time holding your baby so the house work goes to pot! Anyway am off, sonny is grunting (for a cahnge!), and I am looking like the living dead after a very tearful night, so want to settle him, then retire the the bath with a large vino, and a good book - Rock N Roll! Takce care all Cxx

Hey Ladies, Jo, oh bless poor Jayden, he sounds like he's suffering. Have you been able to get anything for the ear intections? Poor little lamb. You must be knackered Jake was a bit colicky a few weeks ago but changing his teats worked wonders, he now has the medium flow ones. Nicki, yay to Katie being an offical person! Hope everyone else is well and their little angels are too. Vicki, any news? Have you got your little boy yet??? Hells & Jake xx

Hi all
Jayden slept really well last night, thank goodness. And he's been really settled today, untill 7pm tonight!!!
No we haven't got anything for Jayden's ear infection. The doctor said that he is too young for medication, and we had to keep a very close eye on it. If it gets any worse then we have to take him straight back and they will admit him and give medication introvenously (spelling). So far it's the same.
No, I've not met any new mum's in my area, Until the week before Xmas we only had one car, so I had to walk everywhere, and I didn't feel like doing that, (I'm a bit scared to go too far at min, as chest pains come on so fast and strong. When I'm in pain the only posistion i find a little comfy is nealt on the floor!!)Plus it's been so cold!!!!
Jayden is already on medium flow teats, he has been since we came out of hospital. As the teats they use in hospital are quite fast flowing, so when we tried the no 1's/slow flow, he was having to suck so hard and was tiring himself out. We have tried the next one on but they just flood him!!!!
We have tried laying him across our laps, but that seems to make him scream more. One thing we have found is.. Holding him under the arms and out in front of us. This seems to ease the pain, but not for long!!!!, plus it hurts my back to do it for too long.
I can sleep during the day, but it never feels the same!!!! We have some really good friends that live 15mins away. They had a baby girl in aug (she was 6 weeks early, so we have a lot in common). They have been really helpful. But sadly, he was Diagnosed with Cancer the week before Xmas, so as he is quite ill at the minute, and she has so much to do herself, I don't like to ask too much of them.
On a better note (god I was begining to think I was all doom and gloom!!). I have appointment for my MRI scan, tomorrow!!!!!! I'm really plaesed about that. I was begining to think that I had been forgotten about!!!!!
Any way, Must go, My little star is starting to screw his fists up and scraem.... again!!!
Thanks for advise and concerns. Jo & Jayden

Hi All Happy New Year xxxxThanks to everyone that gave there advice and well wishes on the Colic. Pleased to say that things are settling down a bit. Not all bad nights now, things do seem to have improved (am still using the Infacol) which seems to be working for us. Only thing is, Ney has turned in to a really spoilt baby. I know some of you may think that does not exist (a spoilt baby at the age of 7 weeks) but believe me it does. This child is so clued up. She cries and as soon as she hears someone coming she stops! however if you dont go get her the cries escalate to real cries and tears and she sounds like she isnt breathing (cos of the floppy larynx). I dont remember the other two being so clued up at such an early age (lol). Right on cue shes off again. So bye for now Char xxxx

Just popping on to say a massive congrats to all the November and December mummies. Eek it's January 08 which means it's been a year since us Jan 07 mummies had our babies. The time really does fly!!! Enjoy your journies, despite all the ups and downs, it just keeps getting better and better. And, by the way, fennel tea is great if you're breastfeeding for soothing babies' tummies - I swore by it when I was bf! love to you all Loocy xx [

Hi Girls Havent got long as Millie has just started to stir. I hope you are well and had a good new year. We are fine, got some Infacol for Millie and that seems to be easing the crying at night. It has defiently made her more windy from her bum !! Had a quick scan of whats been mentioned, did someone mention sex? Im still bleeding so no chance of that!! How long did you guys bleed for? Have any of you started exercising yet? I have brought myself the new Davina Mccall dvd as I liked her other 2 and did it for the first time today. Took it at an easy pace as I am a little worried about it upsetting my scar (even though I have had no problems with it for over 2 weeks). My legs are aching at the minute, and I am feeling tired but i did feel good once I'd finished it. Im really unhappy with the state of my body at the minute , my stomach is awful it just wobbles all the time. I know Im not a small person anyway and infact according to my scales I am 8kgs lighter than when I first got pregnant, which is great but I still feel yuck!! Really hoping to get some weight off this year and tone up my tummy !! Anyway got to go. Take Care Emma ps - Sorry for the lack of personals and then me me post, I promise to do better next time.

Hey Everyone, Nicki and Frenchie, aww what a pair of cuties Katie and Reuben are Emma, I'm with you, the jelly belly is awful! Good on you for the exercise dvd 4 wks after having Millie Rachel, I'm up for a bit of jiggy however, have to wait for next af before i can start pill so its my legs firmly crossed til then , cos that really would be just my luck! Char, glad things are easing up for you, Ney sounds like shes been here before though, cheeky monkey shutting up when someone approaches!! Jake has turned into a monkey he thinks its a good idea to wake up every hour during the night, not for food though, just for the sake of it! I've now started to swaddle him and he's in his big boy cot tonight to see if that makes any difference. I've also changed him to hungry baby milk. So we'll see how it goes, thank god its dh's last night shift tonight! Although Jake has got his injections tomorrow dreading it am making dh come with me! Oh well, better get an hour before he wakes for his next feed Hells & Jake xx

Hi All, Hells, hope Jake's injections went well (god im dreading Ney's too)xxx Talking of injections, looks like we are copying each other again Sab. Ney has her 1st jab same day as Eloise so looks like we are both gonna be having a sleepless night on the 14th. Well, things still up & down for us at the mo. For every gd nite a bad one follows. On a plus side. Ney smiles loads now and jabbers in her own little language when you talk to her (kids are really impressed & azmazed by her) lol. Also looks like Ney's hair has grown more. (not complaining) but the poor child has bed head every minute of the day DD starts her last week in panto next week (hooray) know thats nasty, but all the running around (with a new born) really is not great! (i'll post her pics when we get them from the dance school). & kids are back at school on Monday (hooray). Its been lovely having them off but now theyre starting to do each others heads in and so the bickering goes on and on! Well im off to start taking down the xmas decorations (god its all finally over now). Well till the next time Take care all Char xx

Hiya Everyone Well, Jake was not impressed with his injections! He screamed like a trooper when the doc put the needle in , he wasn't too bad during the night though, although I did give him some calpol (just in case) before he went to bed! Does any of the first time mums or those with more remember being really naieve(sp?) before their LO's were born as to how life was going to be? We went to visit dh's cousin yesterday, his girlfriend is pregnant but by god this child is not going to change their life! He is going on holiday with his pals when baby is 3 mths old, and she has a night out arranged for the week after the baby is born! They both go the pub twice a week and reckon they still are going to do this! I just nodded and said 'ooh very good!' even dh made a comment on our way home about how they're a tad unrealistic Well, I got a lie in til 11am this morning, I could've stayed there all day though! Going out for a chinese meal tonight with a friend who has a 9mth old, we've agreed that no talk of babies is allowed! Char, can't wait to see the pics of DD in her panto gear, and am jelous of Ney's growing hair, i think jake's is falling out! Its like fluff at the moment Sab, go Eloise with the weight gain! Jake gets weighed on Tuesday, i reckon he's going to be about 13lb, he is a chunk! Hope everyone else is well Hells & Jake xx
