Hi to you all,

Not been on for a while.
Jayden is ok ish. We all have colds, he was the same when you lay him down. We got some saline drops and it's worked really well. We have also propped up one end of his cot, which helps too.

Jayden has also started with Colic, poor little man, i wish there was more that i could do for him. We tried gripe water, Infacal with no improvement. We have also tried the Dr Brown bottles (which a friend uses with her daughter and worked straight away)but it has made no difference at all with us. I think he is in pain with his legs too. He had his double tenotomy done on 17th dec, all went well. (we thoght that they just cut part way through the tendons, but they actually cut it completely!!!) So is now in plaster until 7th Jan (this means that he can't bend his legs, which they do when they have trapped wind or colic, so as he is trying to do it, he is pulling pulling his achilles tendons that haven't fused back together yet!!!). We have tried massage on hid=s tummy too, but again this has made no difference at all.

I am still waiting for an appointment to have a mri scan done, then the op. The pain is getting worse each day. On Emas eve i was really bad. I couldn't even lift the kettle. So i am dreading it when Hubby goes back to work after xmas, i'm not sure how i will manage with Jayden!!!! I know that somehow i will manage. it's a case that i will have too!!!

Hope everyone is doing well, and all babies had a great 1st xmas.
Jo & Jayden

How is everyone? Especially the babies with colic? I know that can be so draining. I hope it gets better soon!

Chloe's doing really well. Eating well and gaining weight. Who else is breastfeeding on the thread? Oh, another thought I had for you Frnechie was either Lansinoh brand or Tommee Tippee breaspads. They're much bigger and thinner so they absorb well. And the pain only lasted about 3 weeks, not 5! Sorry to worry you like that!

My sister is in labor today. She's expecting a little girl too. My parents just left yesterday so they're happy to be back for her birth.

Hi all,

Frenchie, I am with Rachel on the breast pad thing I find the Lansinoh ones really good as they are thin and really absorbant. I also found their cream for cracked nips really good as for the first two to three weeks I had really sore and cracked nips and I found it allowed me to carry on bf, with my first dd I only bf for five days due to it being really sore but someone told me if you can get past the first couple of weeks then it should be ok. I had one side that was a lot worse than the other and my health visitor suggested expressing off that side for a day to give it a rest and I found that also helped, but I am lucky as Eloise seemed to be ok taking a bottle, I used the tommee tippee breast and bottle teats and she was ok with them.

Rachel, yes I am bf and am really pleased to have been able to do it this time as with my first I didn't really like it and with my second as I said above it was too painful.

Char, good to hear from you sorry its still difficult hopefully it will resolve itself soon.

Well had a bit of a rough night last night as for the previous few nights Eloise had been having a gap of six hours between one of her night feeds which let me get a bit of sleep but last night she was back to about three and a half it makes such a difference getting a couple more hours of sleep and am grumpy today Frowner, I do know that babies have a growth spurt at six weeks so maybe she is starting to have that?!

Am also feeling a bit down in the dumps as my mum is moving to Cyprus in two weeks and although I have known about it for ages now that Chriztmas is out of the way it has really hit me as we are quite close it is going to be really hard without her just down the road Frowner.

Anyway enough of my rambling

Hope everyone else ok

Take care

Hey Ladies,

Rachel, sorry to hear that your family have now gone back to the states but at least you'll soon be getting new addition to your family.

Nicki, what a lovely story, hope your healing ok after the tear.

Emma, glad your feeling better, tiredness is so hard to take isn't it? My dh has been on mornings this week so starts work at 6 meaning that he cant do the night feed so i get to do that and then obviously have jake all day as well, so been really looking forward to this morning as he did both the night feed last night and got up with jake this morning so i got lie in til half 10 Big Grin

Sabrina, sorry your mum is moving away (((HUGS)))

Jake is really good, except when he gets overtired! He is too busy being nosey to go to sleep during the day, he is a monkey Eeker He is bottlefed and seems to be doing really well he wakes between 4 and 5 for a bottle then goes back down til between 8 and 9. The only thing is that he is on 6oz(!) and drains each bottle, because he does, i can't see that he will get through the full night apart from on the occasion, am thinking i might try hungry baby milk, has anyone tried it???

I booked jake onto a water babies class, it starts in 2 weeks at a local pool and after the course of 10 weeks he does a photo shoot were he gets his picture took under water Big Grin

We've booked a holiday today, YAY, going to Zante in may for a week. It forced me into re-joining my gym and shifting soem of this weight!

Vicki, hope you're doing ok and have your little bubba in your arms...

Hope everyone else is ok? Char, thinking of you xx

Bye for now

To all

We have just got back from taking Jayden to the Doctors. We wanted to make sure that the reason for him crying is colic and not something that we are missing. She said that it is colic and gave us colief. The instructions say to put drops in warm milk and give to baby half hour later or make the bottles up, put drops in and store in fridge for 4 hours. We were told not to make the bottles up in advance, so i was a bit confussed as to waht was right. We have just spoken to health visitor who said..... Boil kettle, put water in sterile bottle, place in fridge, when baby is hungry, put milk powder in and heat, then put colief drops in. The directions on leaflet are not up to date!!!!!!!

Thought that i would just post that for anyone else that is having colic trouble. We have tried gripe water, infacol, and dentinox, all of which we found usless!!! i know not all babies are the same and what works for one baby may not work for another.

Jayden also has a nasty sticky eye and was given drops. Poor little man.

Wishing everyone a great new year.

Happy new year to you all!

Chloe's got 2 bad eyes with all the junk in them and thrush! Poor thing. The health visitor told me to drop breastmilk in them becaue there's natural antibodies in it. I felt so strange doing it, but it's made a big difference already overnight. The thrush has made my nipples sore but she doesn't seem to be affected much by it.

Sab, sorry your mum is moving away. I know how hard it is to be so ar away. Hope you're doing alright.

Jo, Char and Hells, how's the colic?

Cludgie, come back! Even if you're down keep posting here. We're here for you.

Hi to Frenchie, Nicki and Emma.

Oh, my sister had her baby on Saturday. So Chloe has a cousin just 5 weeks younger than her!

Any resolutiions? Mine is to hopefully get these extra lbs off. Oh and has anyone tried having sex yet?

Happy New Year everyone.

Rachel.......OMG!!!!!! S.E.X. already!!!!
I'm not doing it for at least a year!!! lol.

Just out of interest, how do you drop your milk in Chloe's eyes? Katie has a slightly gunky one, and I have tried to do that, but I have no idea how to do it!! Oh and congrats to your sister, did she have a name for the baby?

Sab, I'm sorry to hear your mums moving, I guess all you can do is spend as much time with her now, while you can.

Sorry, short and sweet, got to pop out in between feeds!!

xx Nicki xx

Hi all,

Happy new year to everyone.

Nicki, yeah I guess your right about my mum will be seeing her over the weekend and then the following weekend she then leaves the country on the 16th Jan Frowner, is going to be really strange as I speak to her either every day or every other and see her once a week so it will be very different without her, on a positive note I have booked a flight out there in April for me and the kids hubby has to work but at the moment it is just an outbound flight as easyjet arent doing returns??.

Rachel, Eloise also has a sticky eye both of them were like it a birth one got better the other didn't have tried the breast milk and the saline water but neither cleared it so she now has eye drops, they are fun trying to put those in!! and as for the sex question yes we have dared to but only just a couple of days ago, I remember with the other two we had done it by the time they were two weeks old!! Eeker but I was alot younger then am way to tired this time round.

I guess my resolution is to lose the extra weight I have about a stone to go but am not too worried, i'm still eating like i'm pregnant at the mo! but will need to sort that out soon.

Hope everyone else is ok

Take care

Sab x

Happy new year.

Jayden now has a virus, ear infection, eye infection and is constipated!!!! Aswell as having really bad colic. He doesn't sleep at all at night, well, he wakes every 10 to 30 mins and it takes 30 mins to settle him again. He's not very settled during the day either. Poor little fella is so tired, as am i and daddy!! Daddy goes back to work tomorrow, so as of tonight it's just me, that Jayden has!!!!
How long does colic last????
