my son will be 2 next month and is in a bed in his own room. the problem is is that he will not go to sleep on his own! Either myself or my partner(mainly my partner) has to lie with him until he falls asleep. Any suggestions?

Hi Leigh, I think your problem is similar to that of most women here in the forum. I suggest you have a look at the pick up and put down method by Tracy Hogg. This does work for many babies.

Hi Leigh, We had the same problem with our daughter, who is now 6.My husband got so sick of it that one night he read her a story & then told her that he had to go to the loo and that he would be back afterwards. He left for a few minutes & then came back.Gradually we bulit up(over about 2 weeks)so that all we had to be was read her a story or put on a story tape & if she asked in the morning why we didn't come back,we told her that we did but she was asleep. She has developed a love of books out of it too.

many thanks Joanne, I will try and see if that helps. My son isnt really one for sitting down while you read him a story as he is always on the go and never takes time to sit down for 5 minutes.
