Hi Mummies

Sorry I havent posted for a while just thought I would give a wee update and I promise I will come on more and do personals.

Kyle has been feeding every hour and I just dont seem to have time to do anything. I know I should think myself lucky as he sleeps right through the night from 9pm till 8am but I just cant seem to get anything done through the day! My house is a tip and I have so much washing to do. On the bright side though Kyle slept for 2 hours in his swing yesterday and today so I managed to get some housework done which made me feel alot better. Is it ok for Kyle to sleep in his swing? He will not sleep in his cot through the day as soon as I put him down he cries and the swing seems to be the only thing that settles him apart from me holding him.

Had Kyle's 6 week check up today, yes 6 week check up when he is 11 weeks! I kept chasing the HV's and was told I would get something through the post but never got anything until last week! He is fine and now weighs 13lb 14oz!! He holds his little head up when on his front now which is so cute! He holds it up for about a min then tries to eat his mat Big Grin

Hope everyone is ok

Will need to catch up and do some personals next time

Cheryl

Oh and I forgot to mention I am also feeling really depressed about my weight at the moment. I lost a couple of pounds a couple of weeks ago and put it back on after eating healthy for 2 weeks!! I still have 3 stone to lose and think I will need to diet to get it off. None of my clothes fit and I seem to be wearing the same trackies everyday! Is it ok to diet while breastfeeding?

cherie - firstly thank you so much for coming on and being so honest - I was beginning to think I was the only one! DS1 had a swing and it was the only thing that kept him happy too - I don't know what the "official" advice is but DS1 slept a couple hours in there each day. My HV this time suggested I use the car seat and baby bouncer for day time naps after eating because of Wyatt's reflux. If Kyle has a bit of heartburn after feeding then it could explain why he is happier upright than flat on his back to sleep. I questioned her about the car seat etc advice (which is not to over use them for sleeping) but she said we have to weigh up all the advice and take a middle ground on it. As long as Kyle isn't in the swing all day long every day then I can't see the harm in it personally. 2 hours to get the washing done will make you feel more in control and Kyle won't have lasting damage from only 2 hours in the swing will he? Wyatt is currently snoozing in his car seat and has been for 2 hours - I know he's comfortable in there and he will wake shortly for a feed. The next sleep I'll put him in his baby bouncer so its a different angle for his neck and back. Its the best I can do for him while he's suffering with the reflux.

Regarding the diet - do not try it while breastfeeding is my advice. Kyle needs as much as he can get and if you start starving he won't get enough....I understood you were meant to eat MORE calories when BFing not less. have you considered mixed feeding? maybe giving a bottle of formula once or twice a day to help him feel more full and give you a break? I too am wearing the same 3 pairs of trousers that is all I have that fits....its upsetting isn't it and I just feel really frumpy - especially as 2 of the trousers are yoga pants!!! On the days I wear my jeans I feel much more confident and have a better day - I am tempted to buy another pair of jeans or maybe some black trousers just so I can have more good days than bad....
Anyway - think thats all! Glad to see you back with us! Can't believe you had to wait so long for kyle's 6 week check!!!!

hi gilries just a quicky as alanna had her first jabs today and is being very clingy, she snoozing nw but can hear her stirring.

my understanding of dieting and bfing was that your milk wont suffer due to anything yo do or don't eat, it's like when your pregnant and baby gets all the nutrition it needs and we're left with whatever crap is left over. someone tell me if im wrong because although i'm not starving myself i am only taking 1800 - 1900 calories a day and i don't won't alanna to suffer so i can lose weight.

will hopefully be back later for more personals.

hi cherie lovely to hear from you - glad kyle is sleeping well during the night. My DD never slept well during the day either but she was an angel at night so I didn't worry about it too much!!

nic - zoe's right about not dieting when BF as you need more calories per day than when you were pg!!! they recommend an extra 500 a day when BF - are you taking a multivit for pregnancy still? In some ways you are right in that it's your body that will suffer and not the baby's, but you will get really really knackered and start to get run down if you aren't taking in enough calories once alanna starts to get REALLy hungry (believe me, once they hit the 3-4 month and then coming up for weaning stages they start feeding ALOT and the weight really starts to drop off, honest!!!)

don't know how you do it though as like Zoe I am permanently starving!! Zo - I'm eating everything in sight too at the minute, it's worse than being pg!!!!

Lochlan was weighed this morning, 10lb 7oz Eeker so the little porker is back up to his original centile (91st) already!!! I finally gave in last night and gave him some aptamil as it was 1am, he had been feeding since 8 and was still hungry!!!! I can't believe how much he can take it - I thought they were meant to have tiny tummies!!! LOL So he's now going to be on a small bottle of formula around 11pm to get him to sleep for a few hours.

anyhoo best go as DD is starting to wake up from her nap - i can hear her grizzling! It's a wet and horrible afternoon here so indoor games here we come. Oh and talking of that, have just ordered a Wii console and wii fit as I reckon I can find an hour or so to do some exercise in front of the TV - DD can watch me and join in!! Cost a bl*dy fortune but i haven't spent any money on ME for SOOOOO long I figured I'm worth it!! don't know what DH will say but hey ho.....

love
Loocy xx

hi all!

Cherie - good to see you! With regards to the diet, you are not supposed to eat less, but you can swap normal things for a healthier option. Have healthy nuts or popcorn instead of crisps, low fat spread instead of butter, grill food instead of frying, that sort of thing. Also add extra veg to each meal. But you should be snacking healthily, and eating decent meals to keep your milk rich enough for Kyle. I did this with DD1, and the weight came off no problem! Josh has his daytime naps in his swing or car seat, he will only sleep in his cot at night. I dont think it will do too much harm, and you need the respite!

We tried Josh with a tiny spoonfull of baby rice last night, as he has been waking at midnight (he hasnt done this for weeks!), he is having 5oz hungry baby formula AND breast feeding for 30-45 mins after that. He wasnt impressed though, spat it out & cried because he wasnt getting fed fast enough! So i dont think ill even attempt again for a few weeks, i dont think he is ready. He is only 15 weeks, so i shouldnt have even tried - naughty me!

good afternoon!!

nik- You can follow weight watchers while bf i believe in my questionaire where you find out how many points you get it asks if you are bf cuz you get extra points so might be an idea to look into that that way you will know exactley how many calories you can safely intake for it not to affect you bf'ing. Bless alanna having her horrible jabs it breaks your heart dont it i should be getting my letter anyday now Frowner i hope she doesnt suffer to much and it back to herself in no time Smiler

zoe- hun i really do feel for you and think your really brave admitting it not all easy i reaally hope things setle down for you istill have my down days now and hen usually when i open m eyes and see the state of my house lol . my dh did say the other day that dettol will be going out of business without my weekly 2 bottle purchase lol as for wyatt he is coming along great he'll be a big chunky monkey like riley b4 you know it lb a week is great!!

cheri- great to hear from you hun how good is kyle sleeping all he night. as for the sleepingin the day bit riley sleeps in his bouncer or if he falls asleep on his mat i just leave him there or if im being lazy couch potato he'll nap on the sofa next to me lol he goes up in his bed from about 9 i think it helps them distinguish between night a day a little. im with you on the weight thing its horrid isnt it i have about 3 stone to loose aswell as i said to nik i think you can follow weight wachers while bf'ing might be something to look into.

jenni- bless josh spitting out his baby rice. have you ever tasted it i did when we weaned dd its disgusting she hated it to lol if riley is ready at 16 weeks i will be weaning him obv if hes not then i wont Smiler i ccant see my little fat man holding out till 6 months though. hows the wii fit going? im loving mine and must admit i think im more fexinble cuz the courching dog is not so hard anymore lol

loocy- dont you find having two kids when its raining is really difficult this afternon dd has been kicking at my heals all afternoon bless her so i gave in on the ironing and sat down and did some moon sand with her. glad lochlan is doing great 91st centile blimey riley has jumped 2 centiles he wAS 11lb 8 oz when i got him weighed on monday.

well the other night was a complete fluke i put rileyup in his bed with his bach playing in the backgroud(sends him off a dream) i went to bed after a shower about 10.30 and fell into a lovely sleep only o be woken at 12 with the hungary little man wanting feeding he then went straight back to sleep but woke up at 3 and 6. i just dont know how to make him go longer one of my work coleagues said give him h ungary baby milk for his bedtime feed but i dont like the sound of messing with his milk cuz his colic and constipation has just settled down any advice would be great?

rach-jade - interesting info about weightwatchers....good to know if we want to lose some weight. My HV advised me if Wyatt is so hungry and waking loads int he night (which she said formula fed babies shouldn't do as much) not to give hungry baby too soon as it is the only thing between them and weaning if that makes sense - she said they will have to be weaned too early if they get too used to the hungry baby milk - it also puts added pressure on their kidneys. The plan we came up with for wyatt is to increase his day time feeds by 1oz (she says they should always leave a little in their bottle - say half an ounce - thats when you know you have the amount right), ignore the box instructions (she told me anyway!) and if want then we can give him just the one hungry baby feed last feed of the evening which for wyatt is around 8.30-9pm. Did that yesterday and he slept from 9pm til 3.40am! Yippee - hope we get the same tonight!

loocy -I'm currently munching through a giant bowl of popcorn,....picking out the burnt ones and giving them to the dog! I've had a huge evening meal and a chocolate bar and a banana as well....definately worse than when i was pg and i don't even have the bf excuse anymore!!!

nic - don't panic about alanna as you are obviously producing enough milk for 2 babies lol but do consider yourself - if you keep dieting too hard you will suffer later on - think abotu your bones and teeth girl!!! I'm sure there's a happy medium in there somewhere!

hi everyone else - sorry its early night for me - been busy bee today - loads of ironing acheived hurrah! now i just have the shitty job of putting it all away!!! xxxxxxx

sorry to butt in guys but i'm BF and on weightwatchers.. you're allowed to as long as you've had your 6 week check and you get an extra 10 points per day so you definately don't starve! in fact some days i struggle to eat that many.. and the weight has been coming off at a nice steady pace.

good luck to you all x

Wow, you have all been busy!! Sorry, it has to be aquick post...I have Cora asleep on my lap and DS huddled in having a cuddle so I am one handed.

We have had a good week. Cutting the tongue tie has really helped us with the feeding. Finally she is latching correctly and I can feel the difference when she feeds (i can feel and hear the milk going down nicely). My supply has therefore increased. I pumped this morning for the first time since things have improved and I got 3 ozs in just 5 mins! I was so pleased. Cora is doing really well. We are back to exclusively breastfeeding (she only had 3 x 1-2 ozs bottle of formula in the end) and we are both really happy. She feeds A LOT...every 1 hour/90 minutes during the day but she is sleeping better at night. Last night was 9:30pm - 4am. I was so proud of her Big Grin She was weighed yesterday and after 3 weeks of no weight gain she gained 7ozs this week. I am so happy - she is now 9lbs 7ozs. That tonge tie removal has done wonders.

I have to go as both my babies need attention....I so miss posting properly :-( Not long now I hope. I need to master one handed typing!

I hope everyone is doing well. It sounds like it. All our babies are doing great it seems. Well done mummies :d

hi everyone, i am having a nightmare trying to buy a wii fit, everywhere is sold out where on earth did you guys all buy yours? i got the wii console yesterday but i have trailed round every shop in the area and all over the internet and nobody has any unless i pay, £120!!!! help!!!!

lisa, good news about not having to lose much weight, glad your feeling a bit better about katy's feeding.

rach, karly think i will be looking into weightwatchers today, seems to be working for you gals and i want to be as healthy as possible.

zoe, grrr at the mat payments being messed up you haven'y had much luck there have you! wyatt is getting big, alanna is 10lb 9oz so they are round about the same. alanna dosen't seem to be putting on as much weight as everyone elses babies but she has been smack bang on the 50 centile for 4 weeks now so i'm not bothered in the slightest, she is on the 90th for lenght though. the scottish power thing was a local issue i haven't really had bother before, it's just a pain in the ass now that i have a lo to look after.

cherie, think its fine that kyle sleeps in his swing, you've gotta do what you gotta do sometimes, some days alanna dosen't get dresses until lunch time because she falls back asleep after her morning fed and i'd rather leave her and get on with some cleaning than disturb her to get dressed. alanna still refuses to sit in her swing, she hates it and her carseat to, but will qquite happily lay flat on her playgym or changing mat!! with you to on the having nothing to wear, worst of it is i spent 7 hours shopping in glasgow on wednesday and came back with 1 top!!! everything looks like shit on me just now.

jenpen lol at josh spitting out his rice.

well better get some housework doen while the boss is asleep, (she is atleast dressed thismorning btw). will pop back later to see if anyone can help me out on the wii fit front. have a nice day.

nic - sorry to say that I've heard over on bumples that everyone is havign the same problems getting wii fit. Apparently London has plenty but thats the only place down south -and some of the girls live in really big cities too. Wyatt often goes to school in his PJs to drop DS1 off - he gets fed at 8am and by the time he's winded and nappy changed its time to fly out the door - don't have time to do a full change of clothes! I'm loving the fact he can now wear "outfits" properly and not just babygros! yeah!

oh and MA sorted finally - computer error apparently - its been "eating" payments!

lea - hurrah to Cora doing so well! You sound so much happier!

nat - just wondering how things going in your camp? How's dad doing?

God its so DARK in here! The sky is like lead!

DH and I have decided against the dieting thing as we think it might interfere with TTC later on....I'm going to be quite upfront about this - I am not prepared to do a single thing that could make ttc no3 the long drawn out upsetting process it was with Wyatt. I wonder if dieting might contribute?....what do you all think? DH and I are a little in the dark to be honest about dieting - its not exactly a swear word in our house but we do like our food and it hasn't occured to us before that either of us should diet!!!!! We aren't going back on contraception we've decided so if no 3 makes a hasty appearence so be it.....famous last words you wait!

Love to all x

Nic - I used this site ...http://www.wii-consoles.co.uk/wii-fit-in-stock.asp it tells you when any online stores have a wii fit. I only had to wait a few hours, then it told me that amazon had in stock & i got one straight away! some people have been waiting weeks/months lol. Heres hoping you get one!

Zoe - Both times ive gone a proper diet, Ive ended up pregnant! Im sure healthy eating plays a big part. I want to lose a decent amount of weight before we think about baby #4.

Lea - You sound so much better! Im so glad you are able to still BF exclusively! Josh ahs days where he will only BF, and days where he guzzles a couple of bottles. he loves his booby milk! I hope things really settle down for you now. well done!

Well, Josh is now mobile! I put him on his front today, and he just rolled away lol. He thinks its great, and loves showing Daddy what he can do. I love how he is so proud of himself! Means i can no longer change his nappy on my bed or anything now!
