Hey girls

My 3 year old has been complaining about an itchy tongue for the last few days but tonight it seems to be bothering him more and he says it's sore now.......not sure if that's cos he has been scratching it?

Its not white in colour so don't think it's thrush...it doesn't look odd or anything but can't say I have had a close inspection of his tongue before!

Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated!

I have googled it but it hasn't been very helpful

Thanks

Zoe xxxx

Is it possible he has a food allergy, is there anything new you have introduced recently, it might be worth giving your health visitor a ring to check it out, they may suggest gp visit, other than thrush thats really all i can think of. Sorry not much use to you really, wish you all the best and hope you find out what it is soon.

Hi oldmummy

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. Smiler

I hadn't thought of a food allergy.......thanks for that......will have a good think back to what he's eaten recently

Think I will give it a few more days and then as you suggested I'll ring HV or docs and see what they say. Roll Eyes

Thanks hun Smiler

That sounds a bit odd. I meant I hope it stops bothering him soon.... not that you should hope it does!
Hope that makes sense!!

Just echoing what Lorraine said-has he possibly eaten anything hot and burnt his mouth-the itching might then be the tongue healing?

Hope he feels better soon Smiler

Hi hun

New one on me too I'm afraid but hope he's feeling better soon. Food allergy seems most likely (have you changed toothpaste recently??). Keep us posted.

One of the many different symptoms of food allergy is itchy tongue and or throat. Hope little one is improving now.

Only just read this one and i'm sure you've sorted in out but I get an itchy tongue and roof of my mouth, it turned out that I am very allergic to cats and thats what caused the itching (i have a cat!) Could be your lo is allergic to animal fur or dust?
