My son is 17 months and i have fed him myself since weaning him and now out of habit i'm still doing it. When he does try to do it himself he prefers using his hands. Should he be feeding himself with cutlery or am i worrying over nothing. Please help!

hi chris, my son is 16 months old and sort of feds himself. some days he will attempt to use a spoon of fork and some days his hands. I worry also that he should use cutlery or be better at it than he is. I only know of one other little boy who feeds himself entirely with cutlery at this age with the rest of my post natal group experiencing the same as us so I wouldnt worry too much. I guess they will get bored of it in the end and see the way!! let me know how you get on.
