hiya... DS 1 is 4 and DS 2 is 1.... jus wanted some advice and pinters re: DS 1 fall this weekend:
basically we had stairgates with DS1 but as our banisters were wobbly they never stayed on..our banisters have since been fixed by which time hashim was old enough to go up and down safely. anyways... we have been lazy at pulling them out and putting the up for DS2 (terrible isnt it!)and the inevitable happened... DS2 was playing with his dad on the stairs and tumbled down.. it was a kinda fal wer he kept stopping and starting iykwim... so he was shocked but luckily fine. so we put the stairgate out at the top....and spent the morning teaching DS1 how to use the stairgate as it has a trip bar (lindham one).. but today... DS1 tripped over the trip bar and fell.. unfortuantley he gathered pace as he fell and our hall is laminates... and he banged into the wooden shoe rack at te botom... we took him to AnE but they cudnt determine if he had broken it. it bled but not severely and its reall bruising now... he might get black eyes as well from the drainage in his eye sockets... at the moment the briuising on the niose is spreading and his left eye is slightly bruising up as well.
its so horrible ....
anyways.. was wondering if anyone has seen a child with a broken nose.. or any one ... ie any info.. he is going to review clinic on friday but even if they determined it broken they cudnt have done anything.... apparently... jus want some advice or tips.. imo i think it is broken from the bruising....
((((hugs)))) poor hashim!! I think its the black eye (s) that give awayy a broken nose, but not sure if you could do anything except dose the poor mite up on calpol / calprofen... hope he is feeling better soon.... oh the other thing, if you do think its broken and the swelling goes down a little before friday go back and get him x-rayed as swelling can hide it to begin with.....

something similar happened to our ds1 kai he was been looked after by my mum as i was pregnant with ciaran and we were up the hospital.anyway kai jumped on a beanbag chair and hit his nose on mums brick fire surround thingy,his nose bled quite a bit bruise across the top of his nose and under his eyes and he couldnt breathe(possibly due to the blood and also crying).we took him hospital and it wasnt broke ,just very badly bruised.
hope its the same for hashim as like you said theres nothing they can do for a broken nose and also as peanut has said dose him up with calpol.
dats so nice to 'see' u i have tried to hunt u down on the preg thread but cudnt find u! ur a star and was lovely to get ur msg!
peanut thanks .. look at ur ticker! wow! will see what his eyes r like in the morning... but like u say jus giving him calpol and keepiung a close eye on him... but he is a typical 4 year old and totally oblvious to it..if it was me id be so upset.. we went and got him a bumblebee transformer and he thinks its the best day ever now!
kelly ouch ouch ouch!!poor kai!! luckily there wasnt too much bld here.. which scares kids.. but the bruising is pretty bad on his nose..its awful isnt it... DH got a telling off about the stiargates and we got the cheaper no trip ones now... but like i was saying..boys forget about it and jus get on with it...im sending him school tomorrow but will keep my mobile on me in case and if he seems worse ill take him to emergency docs or something tomorrow.

Ds2 did a similar thing, he ran across the school hall in just his sock and slipped he fell hitting his nose against a wooden school bench, it was horrible.
He has what the doctors call a deformed septum which doesn't cause him any problems, but he may have to have a small op once he stops growing at about 16-18.

aww bless thats horrible jayjay... its not nice seeing them like that... watch out summer... have u nticed all the BOYS have managed to either break their noses or come close!!
luckily hashim is a lot better now that the swelling gas come down and there is no sign of any black eyes so looks like he didnt break it phew..stil his face is a bit of a state... bless him but he is using it to his advantage saying ..can i sleep in ur bed (sas i let him the first night!)... and wen i say no he says.. but my nose hurts! yeah right... but u cant help it wen they look so hurt... hehe!!
