My 18 week old son is exactly the same about refusing a bottle and I really appreciate how frustrating this is. Like you I tried all sorts of teats but he just absolutely refused. Even if I did manage to get some milk into him he invariably sicked it up later - and this was my expressed breast milk! When he was about 16 weeks old I gave up on the bottle. Instead I have decided to wean him straight onto a beaker cup with a spout. The first few times I just let him hold the cup and play with it. Almost immediately he took hold of both handles and put the spout into his mouth. I then put some expressed breast milk in it and gently helped him tip the cup back till he got a taste. He was both surprised and delighted by this and before long would happily drink a small amount. He will now drink about 1 to 2 ounces of formula milk from his cup at one sitting - this isn't much I know but he is doing it willingly and is getting more and more used to it by the day. He isn't yet at the stage where it replaces a feed (he won't drink if he is hungry) but once he does that will be a real breakthrough. I think he accepts this because it is totally new and not like a nipple replacement, also I think he likes holding the handles and feeling more in control. So you could try this... good luck!

Could you please advise on how the hadderman bottle is worked for you as i have problems with my 7 week old boy i would like to mix feed, but it is proving difficult quote: Originally posted by Libbysmum [br]I have just found the Haberman Feeder on babywhispere.com and ordered one myself, although they are quite expensive!!quote: Originally posted by Sima [br]It took me months to wean my first son off the breast and onto the bottle, despite trying every teat/bottle/brand of milk on the market, even forcing a dummy into his mouth did not work. I was due to go back to work, and even the health visitors were struggling to get him onto the bottle.
I do not want to go through this again with my new son, now 10 weeks old. At least if he learns the concept of sucking from a bottle, I will not be pulling my hair out like I was last time. I am planning on mix feeding, primarily breast, but it would be useful if at times he can take a bottle.
Does anyone know where you can get the Haberman feeding bottles that were refered to on the episode?

I had this trouble with both my children. I kept on trying with both - with my daughter, she suddenly decided to take the bottle 2 days before I returned to work! My son is 6.5 months and still won't take the bottle. However, he is a good eater so whilst he's at child care he just has his meals, and water from a cup and I breast feed him 4 or 5 times at home. So, although he's getting his nutrients, it's not ideal as he feeds in the night still and it restricts me somewhat. I wish I'd introduced a bottle from day 1, but it's easy to say that now!
