Hi Mummies,

I could really do with some advice. My new bubs Charlie is nearly 2 weeks old and has been an angel since birth but his routine is starting ever so slightly to go to pot.

As his feeds are increasing, Charlie has started falling asleep whilst taking his bottle. He is threfore not getting enough and waking sooner than he usually would. Neither love nor money will wake him up, so I don't know what to do??? In the night I thought it might be the teats, maybe number 1 is just too slow and he gets knackered, but number 2 seems too fast and he can't keep up with it - any ideas girls? I'm terrified that the fabulous routine we have got ourselves into is going to fall apart!!!!

Any advice would be gratefully received!!!!

Hi,

Any sleepy baby try breaking the feed with a wind to wake him, like has been said tickle toes, or with my baby i tickle her sides, stroking a babys cheek should get them sucking again but i was conctantly doing that!
She is a terrible snacker, just took a bit and fell asleep again, so i tend to do half a feed, wind, change, chat to her and then give second half, if it goes cold and he does not like it cold i suppose you could do 2 feeds?
Nice to hear its not just my baby that does this, sorry to say at 3 months she still is a snacker rather than a propper feeder, no through the nights for us yet!

Good luck,
Pinky xx

Hi 20Jan
I usually change her nappy and talk to her while I am doing it so she is fully awake and then feed her, also the teat on the bottle might close if it is being sucked too much, try to pull the bottle away to see air bubbles and make sure there is a good flow.
You know 2 weeks is very early, if you have tried a couple of things and they are not working then let it go, babies are very tired in the beginning and need sleep badly, let it go for a few weeks and it might change by itself.
good luck

I was advised to take some clothes off aswell, and it did work.
Try not to worry though, he will feed when he is ready. xx
