i am new to this forum and i am finding it difficult where i live to meet friends i moved from up north down to portsmouth in hope of a fresh start and met my current partner but i have been here 2 years but in that time i was pregnant and now a stay at home mum. and am finding staying at home with my son a real struggle cuz im lonely and am only 20 so some mums from toddler groups tend (not all) to look down on me cuz of my age ... so find myself not going cuz i feel slightly ashamed and scared about what people will think of me.
does anybody know a website wher you can meet mums in your local area to start making friends??
please help

Hiya,

Welcome to the boards. Everyone is lovely on here and will be very welcoming to you.

How spooky, i live in Southampton so not too far away. lol. You could find people with babies a similar age to yours and mums in certain age range you would like to meet on the aptamil website. I met one person in Southampton from there. http://www.milupa-aptamil.co.uk/en/static.asp?mode=community_home.

You shouldn't feel ashamed at all for being a young mum. Their the ones with the problem not you hun. As long as you are a loving mum and do your best for your child it really doesn't matter what age you are although over 16 is good. lol) There are a few young mums on here that are in the same boat as you. I am sure they will pop by and say hi along with others.

How old is your son? What's his name? I have two kids. A 3 1/2 year old boy called Josh and a 5 month (today Eeker) little girl called Lucy.

Hope to chat more to you somtime.

Take Care

Hugs and i hope you enjoy posting on here

hey hun, and welcome o the boards, u shouldnt feel ashamed of the fact ur a young mum, im only 19 and got pregnant with bailey at 17 and ive found parenting hard as i feel the same at groups and things as people do look down on you, have u tried sure start there really good and bailey has oftern been to there play sessions i found going and ignoring the remarks works as they see u as a mum and not a child, when they see ur just as good a mum as they are

i also find myself with no friends and nothing to do as all my old friends dnt have babies so there fed up of me so to speak

although ive started working again part time so i am getting some 'me' time lol

there are alot of brilliant people on here Rhi being one of them who are always there to support advise and just be friends with you, feel free to join any conversation add your opinion or just general chatter,

do u have msn? pm me ur addy if u like? im on there most days

try not to worry to much hun Smiler

Welcome to the boards, I am lorraine, I live in Sandhurst Berks, not too far away I suppose about and hour and a half from you???? I know Rhi and Kia, lol.

We don't care if you are old, young, fat, thin, or have 3 legs, we are a nice bunch and I am sure that you will soon make new friends.

Love Lorraine. xx

thanks guys that means alot although i do have three legs ... if thats ok .. lol and a third nipple ... dont know if i should have mentioned that .
anyway ( i dont really have a third nipple) (just thought i ought to clear that up) but it makes me feel normal when people say they go through hard stages and parenting is not easy by far... and my partner doesnt seem to understand how hard it is either he think i sit and watch tele all day ( although loose women i do sit and watch but it is brilliant,)but we all have our jobs to do and we have a dog to and she isnt smalll ... her names rosie . i will get some pics up so you can see our bizarre family . but going slightly off road (placenta brain still)your advise and support is gladly recieved and hopefully we shall stay in contact while our little monsters are growing up !!!
thanks again for your advise

Hi,

i was 17, just, when I had my first so I know how you feel. I even had an old woman sout abuse across the street to me when I was pregnant.

Where I live we have an under 21 mums and toddler group, why don't you ask you HV if there is anything like that near you or speak to someone at your local surestart/childrens centre. You might even find that young mums start coming out of the woodwork as they all feel the same as you.

Everyone has difficulties as a mum, I still do and I have 3 now, and I still get looks when I am out with my 5'11" 15 year old son and he calls me mum.

Always nice to have a new person here although I haven't been about much lately.
