Well girls I took the bullet by the horn so to speak and have set up the parenting thread.

Im sure we are all going through different and similar experiances (sp?)and I hope we will be able to support each other the same way we did on the pregnancy thread.

Finally Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Have a wonderful time ....

Emma

Hang in there Frenchie - it the nipple pain should only last a few weeks. Do you have any lanolin to put on them? Also, you can try pumping as much of the extra milk as possible... you won't always have so much and you can freeze the extra for later! I had hoped it wouldn't be so sore the 2nd time around, but it is. She's 5 weeks now and it's not painful at all anymore, so it won't be long!!

Hope all you moms and babies had a good (first) christmas! post some pictures if you can!

Rachel

Hi All,

Well its been a long time since ive been on here to post. Have been stalking you all, but not had much time & not felt up to posting.

Hope you all had great christmase's with your new bundles.

I cant believe Ney is 6 wks already (thats gone sooooo fast). As for us, its been a bit of a long road. Ney weighed in at 10lb 4oz on the 11th of this month (thats 15 days ago) so as you can see, shes feeding ok. Just LOADS!!!!!!!
Ney also has Colic (which my previus DD had) so you would think im a pro at dealing with it now yh.....well no.

Its really upsetting and evenings in this house at the mo are a bit of a nightmare. Have tried the usual stuff like Infacol and Dentinox to no avail. So to say im struggling at the mo is a bit of an understatement.

As soon as DP gets in from work, Ney's being passed over to him every night.

Also not feeling too great myself. Bruised my Coccyx when i had Ney (as i had done with previous birth). Thought the pain might have gone by now (as it did the last time) but seems to be getting worse. So sitting is really difficult for me at the moment.

Missed my 6wk postnatal check and got a new app for just after the new year so got loads of ailments i need to discuss with the GP (God there gonna hate me) Lol.

Anyway, on a plus side my oldest DD is appearing at Hackney Empire in panto from December 3rd till the 12th of January. (not sure if i posted before that she won a place through audition to appear in the show). Well its a lot of drop off's and pick ups at the mo (which works better when DP is off work) but otherwise very tiring as DD does one day on and one day off.

Well we have been to see the show and it was absolutely wicked (not just because DD is in it) lol. It was a good night out and break from the everyday usual stuff!

I have posted some new pics of the baby on the msn thingy (sorry memory block) as to the name of it.

Cludgie, i could have cried when i saw the pics of your DD. Bless her, that looks so painful. Hope she makes a speedy recovery.

Sab, hope your doing ok. Thanks for asking after me.

Till the next time all. Take care
Char xxxx

Char, re the colic, Jake suffered with it for a few weeks and evenings in our house sounded like yours, however, I got Colief Drops from the gp, they are bit of a pain to administer cos they have to be added to warm feed half an hour prior to giving the bottle but they did help but i've found the best thing was to change Jakes teats, he now has medium flow as opposed to slow flow, touch wood we haven't had a screaming evening since! (apparently the slow flow teats mean that he has to suck harder for the milk making him suck more air!) Not sure if you would have already tried this but thought i'd suggest it anyway xxxxx Congrats to your DD for the panto.

Hope you all had great Christmasses, we had a really nice day, saw most of our immediate family, although probably a bit too much for us and the little man - still, had yesterday without any visitors - and the same today - bliss! It's great that people want to come and see us, but it is so nice to just relax as a family too.

Rach, thanks for the reassurance about the sore and leaking boobs! Glad to hear it will subside, although 5 weeks seems a long time! I have switched from tesco to johnson brand breast pads, which are loads better and means I don't wet the bed!! Midwife suggested getting little cups to collect off one boob as I'm feeding off the other, as that is one of the worst leaky times!

Junior gets lots of hiccups - which I'm sure are more distressing for me than him, but any tips on how to ease them?

Char, really hope the colic eases soon - and that you get some rest. Well done to DH on her star performances!

Will post some pics on msn in a mo...

Evening All

I had a nightmare day yesterday, just wanted to cry. Dont know why, but it was awful I felt really down because of it. Then ended up staying up til 4am this morning as Millie couldnt settle. She is full of congestion and everytime I tried to lay her down a few minutes later her nose would block up and she would struggle breathing and it frightened her. DH took over at 4am and she finally fell asleep at 6am. Consequently she has been sleeping most of today.
Been to see a chemist and the only thing we can do is put some saline (sp?) drops in her nose and it should help in breaking it down and getting it out.

So I slept til 11.30am this morning, feeling pretty good just tired and not atall tearful. Told DH what was wrong and he kept asking why I didnt tell him yesterday as he knew something was up. I told him it was because if I had t say it ut loud then I would of started crying and probably wouldnt of been able to stop!!

Anyway off to look at our xmas pictures, will try and post some on MSN soon.

Take Care Girls

Emma

Sorry for the me post, will catch up with you all soon.

Emma, sorry to hear little Millie is all congested, Jake is the same, I use the saline drops to loosen the snot (sorry) and then I got a sucker thing from mothercare, its a tube that goes at the tip of the nostril and you suck, dont panic the snot collects in a little pot thing. It is actually quite good and I've managed to get a good few bogies Big Grin

Char, had another thought on the colic, we also use a hot water bottle on jakes tummy it seems to soothe him.

Frenchie, good to hear you had a nice christmas, it can get quite stressful can't it? We went to my brothers but I knew that Jake wouldn't sleep during the day because of all the goings on and he didn't so then he was a grumpy little sod!

Bye for now

Hells & Jake xx
