My son has a problem keeping his foreskin stretched enough. The opening is very tight. We keep getting it open during bath time, but the next day.. it's closed up again! I really don't want him to have to get circumcised. He's 5. Anyone have any tips?? Thanks!
Hi, Bests with this one to take him to docs and ask their opinion. If it is too tight it can cause infections. There are other things can be done like a little snip in the skin rather than removing it but it will depend how tight it is. My son had the foreskin removed as it was tight and he kept getting urinary infections, now its clean and he has no problem, and remembers nothing about the op. My advice is ask doc and go from their, it may just be suggested to use a little oil on it or something, but if you ask you will know for sure if it needs any treatment or not.
hey there, my partner had to have his foreskin removed as a child because of this problem and he has never worried about 'being different' and dosnt remember the op also my friends son recently had the operation too due to the same thing it was just too tight and he dosnt remember the op either its not a bad thing and it is alot cleaner, i dont complaine anyway lol
but the best thing u can do is seek medical advise from gp or HV im sure they will point u in the right direction

My son had this aswell, he is now 7 and has not had to have anything removed. Wwe did have appointments with the doctor and at the hospital but they basically told us to keep pully the skin back and it will loosen, and true to there word it has. xxx

Well, he had a bath this morning and still very tight. You could only fit the tip of a ball point pen (not that I would ) So Dr's appointment it is. I appreciate the replies
DS also has has very tight foreskin - but we were advised NOT to try and pull it back or anything yet as it is too early (DS also only about to turn 5) We were told that its not til about 7 or more that they start to panic about it as usually it "fixes" itself (which I think is basically what Musswells has said.) DS finds it impossible to pee straight as the foreskin is also very long and we cannot get him dry at night as he has no sensation of weeing during the night - even if he has no pull up on he will sleep in a puddle of wee and be totally oblivious as its like he doesn't feel himself having a wee? I wondered if this could be linked? Please come back on and let us know what the doc says - I'd be interested to hear another opinion
Good luck xxx

Let me know what doc says. My sons used to balloon up sometimes if he had a wee, it was very tight! My other son is fine, he pulls and stretches his, in public usually!! (but i could see as a baby he had plenty of foreskin, it looked totally different to my first sons) although he is not so bad now, the flashing phase was at about 5 years old!!
