Hi ladies,

Well Ben rolls over although does get his arm stuck, he's very close to sitting on his own for short periods but he doesn't like to bear much weight on his legs so it really so goes to show all babies are different. He's like one of those little wooden toys with the button underneath that collapses their legs, you get him up on his feet and he just tip toes and bends his knees!

Anyway Ben is fine, he's eating more, I'm following the Annabel Karmel baby and toddler planner book so Ben has a bottle and cereal for breakfast. Veg and fruit puree for lunch and veg and fromage frais for supper and a mid morning and mid afternoon bottle plus one before bed. I'm struggling to get him to drink water, even tried putting a little apple juice in it. He just rolls the teat or sippy cup in his mouth but doesn't actually drink any. He can't drink out of a sippy cup yet he doesn't understand to close his mouth and suck, he just chews it. Tried loads of different makes, hopefully it will come.

His milk intake is going down the more he eats which is just as well as he'll be on stage 2 milk soon and they only say to give them about 550mls a day.

Hope everyone is well, just off out to see my friends baby Freya who's about 4 weeks old and tiny!!!!

Hi all!

Glad to hear everyone is getting on so well and all the babies are starting to do more different things.

Fleur is rolling over and is near to sitting, but she seems to constantly want to stand up and the funniest thing she does is, if she's lying on the floor on her back she does like a little sit up, she always does it, she's gonna have fab abs!!! lol

She's still on breast milk only and seems to be thriving from it, but may start to introduce baby rice in the next few weeks.

I had her weighed last thursday and she was 17lb 14ozs and 62 1/2 cms long, so on the 91st centile for both!

Chele, your question about wanting a girl, it's funny actually.
Before dh agreed on having her, i went on at him for a year in desperation because i wanted a little girl and he would say no because that isn't a reason to have a baby and what if we had another boy.
Well after a long year of wanting, it got to the point where i just knew i wanted another baby whether it was a boy or a girl to complete our family, as i've always wanted 3.
The fact we got a little girl is the icing on the cake, but really wouldn't of minded either way in the end, but had dh agreeded earlier and we got a boy i think i would of been distraught, where as now i think i would of been ok.
God i've gone on a bit!!!! i guess i'm trying to say don't have another baby just to try and have girl, it may not happen.

Anyway hi to everyone else, it's gone very quiet on here, but it is very hard to get on here anymore!

take care all,
bubbly and fleur x x x x

Thanks for reply Bubbly - I think I just want another baby! Yes I would love a girl but it would certainly not be the end of the world if I got a little boy. I just don't feel my family is quite complete yet and I so want to be pregnant! My age is against me really as I am 34 next month and we can't really afford another child as I am the main wage earner. Cannot get used to the fact that I will never have another baby! DH is dead set against it though and I can't see me changing his mind. I am going to work on it though! Stupid thing is I have got rid of loads of baby things already!

Hope everyone else is well. Charlie has got conjunctivitis at the moment but he is still smiling through it! He is such a sweetie - very rarely cries and giggles all the time. I am really enjoying him! We are getting him christened finally on the 4th feb at my school church, where we often go and the vicar is lovely!

Sharon - R u ok honey? my msn all messed up cos I have changed my broadband provider but I miss our chats!

Hi everyone

Chele - i know exactly how you feel re knowing you aren't going to have any more - and we've got 6!!!!! I could go on forever but have decided Katie is def our last (in fact DH has been and done the deed so def no more for us!!!)

Bubbly - Katie too does that when lying down - this morning when i went to get her out of her cot she was almost up to sitting - just using her tummy muscles!

Kate - when they say about them having a pint of milk it isn't that they should ONLY have a pint - more that they should have AT LEAST a pint!!!! It does mean however that part of that pint can be used in their foods and as yoghurts etc.

Well Katie is a porky pig lately! Weighed her today and she was approx 20lbs - thats just under the 98th centile!!!! I haven't been to the clinic at all since she was born so just weigh her at home on our scales! She is now on weetabix in the mornings with cows milk on it - which she wolfed down about 3/4 of one! I have now got her on 3 meals a day with a cup of water at each meal. She also has a cup of milk mid morning and mid afternoon and a bottle before bed.

She is rolling over and over and over and oops where has she gone now!!!!! Since realising she can go all the way over she thinks it's funny to keep going! So allsorts having to be moved out of the way! She is pretty much sitting up on her own now. She just gets a bit violent with her toys and so if she throws them too far and stretches for them then she goes splat! She is tucking her legs right up under her when on her front and rocks back and forwards on her knees so hopefully she will get mobile shortly and lose some of her chubbiness!!!!

I hope everyone is ok and all those little ones are well - Katie will be 6 months on Thursday - can't believe how fast time has gone!!!!

Yeah I know that, its my lazy typing lol. Think it said at least a pint or 550-800mls a day, Whatever that is I work on fluid ounces so I have no idea how much 550mls is without checking. Now he's on 3 meals I think Ben's gone from having about 36oz a day to 26oz a day in just a month but thats partly down to him sleeping through and no longer having a feed in the night. He's pretty much on the same schedule as Katie although he's no good at taking his water, I will keep trying though. He'll now eat his solids without screaming for milk which is good cos breakfast is the only time he'll have them at the same time. I really recommend the Annabel Karmel baby and toddler meal planner book.

Hi - Kate - i thought after i typed that it sounded a bit bossy!!! Sorry didn't mean it to!!! It's good when they are in a nice routine isn't it - i think we have finally got her bedtime sorted too as before it was a little hit and miss - depending on her daytime naps! But now whatever sleep she has during the day she has her last bottle at 7-30 and straight up to bed! I haven't got any of the books - i must admit i tend to give her what we are having and just blitz it up now. So last night we had roast so i took a handful of each thing out and put in a bowl ready for today. If she eats at the same time as us then i just blitz it up as i cook it. She still prefers anything fruity or milky rather than veg and sometimes it's a bit of a battle with her mouth clamped shut! But i've found if i add a bit of yoghurt to the veg she'll eat it!!!!! So i always try her without it first and then if she refuses it i add a spoon and she scoffs it down! Strange child!

Morning all,

Llynnn, Mason got 4 packs of choc buttons from our neighbour for Xmas, I ate them! LOL! It is weird what people give, he’d only just started solids then too! I totally agree about feeding them pure veg etc if that’s what you want to do and I also only give Mason water, he doesn’t need it to be flavoured as he doesn’t know any different. The more they get used to plain water now, the more accepting they will be of it as they grow up.

Kate77 – Mason did that thing where he would roll and get his arm stuck but he got passed it quickly and now he’s all over the place. I also use the Annabel Karmel meal planner book, it’s really good isn’t it! I gave Mason a non-spill cup, the Avent Magic Cup but I took the non-spill valve out. It does mean water goes all over the place but he understands that to tip it towards his mouth makes it come out and he now just has to master it.

Mason’s routine now is
07:00 – up
07:15 – 6 oz milk, 2 more mixed with baby rice with fresh fruit mixed in
9-10:30 – nap
11:15 – 6oz + 6-7 veg cubes
14:15-14:45 – nap
15:15 – 6oz + 6 fruit cubes (or fruit pot)
16:30-17:30 – nap
18:45 bath
19:15 – 8oz
19:30ish – bed

Give or take he pretty much has the same pattern every day which is great for both of us. He’s only been doing the 7am wake for about a week though. As I used to give him a dummy for going to sleep he used to wake at 5am and get a dummy so when I stopped the dummy, he would still wake for it and it took about 2 weeks to break the habit. He managed to sleep the other times of day without it after 3 days but I didn’t think we’d ever get past him waking at 5am. Just shows they pick things up quickly if you are consistent.

He eats every veg I give him and most fruit but I tried apricot the other day and although he ate some of it, he wasn’t so quick to take it like with other fruit and he refused to eat all of it so I think it may have been too sharp a taste.

Mason loves the baby safe feeder now, he had two slices of peach yesterday feeding himself!

I gave him a Hipp Organic pot of Turkey Casserole the other day as I was out when I fed him and he only ate half. I don’t know if that means he prefers my cooking or because there was too much other stuff going on. It’s the first time he’s had meat and he hasn’t had any since as I just haven’t gotten around to doing it yet. I have tons of frozen home made veg cubes but nothing with meat in yet. I have some frozen fish pie ready for when he has fish but the meat thing is confusing. You have to wait for veg to cool if you meat is already cold before you blend etc – does my head in.

I also tried him with a tiny bit of marmite on the end of my finger and he sucked it all off.

Anyway, enough of my rabbiting, this is what happens when you can only get on here now and again!

Love to all
C x

Hi all

I'm settled back into work now. I still miss Abbie like crazy when I'm here and wonder all day if she is ok and what she is doing etc. i wish i could have a little camera on her all day that I can watch at my desk! Dont think I'd get much work done though!
I have the Annabel Karmel ice cube trays and Abbie will only eat half to 3quarters of them at one meal do you think I should give her food before her bottle instead, should she be having more food now? its soooo confusing!

Carla - I'm like you too with the meat! I'm too worried about not cooking it enough and it making her poorly etc. me and dh also dont eat any fish and I hate the smell of it but i know I'm going to have to cook some for her! Not looking forward to that!

Does anyone else feel like they are constantly feeding them at the moment? I think because mealtimes take longer nowadays with the food it really doesnt seem long until the next meal is due and with giving water too I feel as though I'm constantly feeding her!!

Anyway best get some work done!
Speak soon
Lynn xx

Hi ladies,

Lynn yes I feel like I'm constantly feeding Ben but he's so much more contented now I'm following the AK meal planner book.

Carla, I've tried that with the Avent cup and it goes everywhere, plus he's not learnt to clamp his mouth round the spout yet, plus I just think he doesn't like water. I bought a little bottle of flavoured baby water from boots to try, its organinc and only has a trace of sugar, I'll try it, probably building a rod for my back though if he does like it lol

Well Ben's routine goes like this:

8am - up and dressed
8.30 - 5oz milk and 1oz mixed with cereal or porridge
10am - nap
11.30 - 6oz bottle
1.30 - veg puree, fromage frais and water if he'll take it
2.30pm - nap
3.30pm - 6oz bottle
5.30pm - veg puree and fruit puree or 1/2 mashed banana, water if he'll take it
7.30pm - bath
8pm - 8oz bottle and bed

Ben usually sleeps through, I never feed him in the night now. Struggling with daytime naps as he'll only go down for 30 mins at a time. Don't know how to address this, hoping not to have to do controlled crying. Ben is very bright and breezy when he's awake so I think he must be getting enough sleep, I just don't have much time to get anything done.

lol Ben is transfixed by steps on the smash hits channel, he'll learn one day!!! right better go get his dinner sorted. Sweet potato then banana for pudding today.

Hi guys

Just quite a quick one from me. I have been popping in but just briefly. Things are a bit hectic at mo. I am now at work two mornings per week while my MIL has Daniel. You might remember me telling you my mother was going abroad with my dad, well they have now gone and she is a big loss so I am finding it a bit hard coz i am usually on phone everyday and seeing her most days. I am used to my Dad being away because he has always flitted between countries and my mam and two sisters did live away while I was getting married for a couple of years and they just came back for the wedding but I think I feel a bit more clingy since having Daniel. I know she is finding it hard being away from him but hopefully she will be back soon.

Glad to hear you are all doing well. Not got time to go into too much at mo coz DH has ran a bath and its getting cold. He has been telling me off lately for being on the internet too much. I think I am becoming a bit obssessed I have been researching whether its better to have a vaginal birth after c-section or another c-section. We are planning to start trying for no 2 when Daniel is about 2 so I thought I would obsess over that for a bit!!! Since I spent several hours/ probably days on internet 'researching'; I have come to conclusion that both have pros and cons so no better off!!!! Think I might put post on thread when I get a mo.

Anyhoo hope you are all well. I have updated a couple of recent pics of Daniel on photo thread of chele's but havent had chance to do christening ones yet, they are on pc upstairs so I will try over weekend.

Take care all

Hi girls and babies!
Hope you are all ok, Abbie's got a bit of a viral infection thats making her cough all the time and she has a little rash on her chest, poor thing. She's also off her food, she is taking all her bottles but wont have any food at all. Is this normal when they are feeling a bit under the weather?

PJGirl- I have also been thinking about the next time as I also had a section. I would like to have a natural birth as still feel like I didnt really 'give birth' to Abbie myself and feel robbed of the whole experience. Havent really researched the problems it can cause though, think i'll cross that bridge in a couple of years when (fingers crossed!) number 2 is on his/her way!

Hope everyone else is doing well, cant believe our little ones are almost 6 months old now!!! How time flies!
Speak soon

Hi!!

Lynn - love the new pic on your ticker - as you say - i too can't believe Katie was 6 months last week! It has gone so fast!!! And yes - it does feel like we are constantly feeding - although it is much quicker these days!!!!

PJ Girl - sorry you are missing your Mum. It must be hard having had her around so much. I can't remember where she has gone? Is it far? Will she pop back much?

Kate - don't worry all of a sudden he'll start drinking! Katie doesn't have a great deal either - she prefers a couple of teaspoons of normal apple juice in about 4 oz water - but she only drinks about an ounce at a time!!! I've just bought a juicer (£39-99 reduced from £100 in Sainsburys!) so i might just make some fresh for her and hopefully she'll like it!

Hope everyone else ok - not heard from a few for ages!!!

Hi guys

Karen - she has gone to middle east. She is due to come back at start of April if she can last that long! The plan is for her to spend 6 months in each country. Its hard but computers are good, so emaling and need to get wab camming and get a tesco phone so calls are free.

Lynn- I forgot you had a section too. I know what you mean. When I had mine I felt great and think I was just so overcome with everything else having Daniel here etc... I was quite happy but its only when I think about it now I wish it could have been different. Deep down I know that the main thing is he arrived safely and thats all that counts. it just gets you down sometimes where you hear of people having babies and they are in and out and comments like 'she done really well etc..' Makes me feel like I didnt achieve it. Think your right though. I should stop getting on my own nerves and worry about it nearer the time. What ever happens I am likley to follow my consultants advice anyway and do whatever he advises is safer and if is a vaginal birth then even better.

Hope everyone else is well

Speak soon
