Hi everyone,

Carla, nice to hear from you. Well Ben's a week younger than Mason and he weighed 14lb 14oz this week so snap!!! looks like our boys are doing about the same.

On the job front I have resigned, I'm not going back to work, well not yet anyway. I'm really enjoying being home with Ben at the moment and I was on a fixed term contract anyway.

Ben went in his own room at the weekend, his sleeping had got horrendound after he was ill plus he had a big growth spurt. So enough waqs enough and he went in his own room and after one night of controlled crying we are all sleeping really well, in fact I'm finding it hard adjusting to having such long deep sleeps!!!

Probably wont post until after xmas now, so have a good one everyone. I'm already finding it hard but we are going to try and make the best of it.

We have talked about me giving up work completely and we could get by but it's so hard. I will see what happens and whether my boss agrees for me to work part time and that may even ,ake the decision for me. I do not want to go back Monday to Friday 9-5 as it's too much time apart from Mason.

I read that you no longer have to pay back your SMP if you don't go back to work after maternity leave, is that right? Didn't it used to be that you had to return for 3 months at least?

Kate - lots of love for your family this Christmas, I'm sure your Dad will be there in spirit and in your memories.

Carla xx

hello!

Well...sam weighs in at about 20lbs at 18 weeks! IS that a winner for the fat biy competition??!!! HE is also above the charts for his length now, think he is going to be a strapping lad. we only feed him 30 oz milk and one solid feed a day, so i have no idea how he is rocketing up at such a rate but there you go.

just a quickie to wish you all a happy xmas and new year - especially kate and silky, hope it is not too hard for you.

Will be back in the new year !

love
Tallgirl and Sam xxx

Hi all, glad everyone is doing well.

Carla I have replied to you on other thread about child care costs but I am sure that there is something which says that your employer has to offer flexible working if you are main carer of a child. I know that this is something I have heard mention where I work before because a lot of people work from home because of this but have to do so many days in the office over the month. I can make enquiries for you if you like but next time anyone at work will be in will be 27th December so will let you know.

Tallgirl - nice to see Sam is thriving. Think he will be a big lad both you and DH are tall.

Kate - I know it will be hard for you this xmas hun so hoping you have an extra special time with Ben this year. xxx

Hope everyone else is well. Have a lovely xmas and cant wait to hear all our babies first xmas stories when I am back on.

Hi ladies, did you all have a nice xmas?

Mine was nice, surrounded by family and I was OK, missed Dad loads but managed to enjoy it all as much as possible. Ben loves his present, a graco activity centre, kind of like a walker without wheels and toys all around rather than just at the front. Its almost exactly like the baby einstein one. We went up north to my Mum's for xmas, back now and Ben now has a cough and cold Frowner

Chele, Ben actually rolled completely over for the first time on boxing day, he's been trying for weeks but he can do it now, its funny he throws his legs over then the top half follows.

Louise, congratulations hun, what a lovely surprise! did you see it coming?

Hi to everyone else, looking forward to catching up x

Hi Everyone

I hope you all had great Christmases. Ours was nice. I always find xmas a bit sad and unexciting since my Mum died but it was improved by having Anna around. She loved eating all the wrapping paper and watching the lights. I have put a couple of photos on the photo thread. Kate1977 I am glad you didn't find Christmas too hard and that Ben enjoyed his presents.

I have not posted in a while but Anna is doing fine. Her weight gain has slowed rather. She was 94th centile but now she is between 50th and 75th (14lb 8oz when last weighed at 17 weeks). I am still 100% breastfeeding and the HV wanted me to start her on formula to keep her weight up but I know she is not hungry and she is still a happy, chubby baby so I am ignoring HV. She can roll now. She started at 16 weeks and for a few days she was constantly flipping from one side to the other but she seemed to get bored of it and hasn't bothered this week! Her thing at the moment is chatting. She is very vocal and when you say "Hello" she says something shockingly similar right back.

Louise - Congrats on your engagement. I am getting married on May 5 and am sorting it all now but finding planning hard with a baby around. When will your big day be?

Happy New Year to everyone.

Hi girls

Glad everyone and babies doing well.

Louise!!!! Congratulations to you!!!! What a lovely xmas present. Big Grin

We have had a lovely xams it has made it very special having Daniel and what a different feel xmas has again!!!!!

I keep popping onto the August2007 babies thread I cant beleive it was one year ago since we were in their shoes, what a fast year!!!.

Have invested in Annabel Karmel stuff so started Daniel on solids. Gave him baby rice a few weeks ago just for a taste but started doing more other stuff now.

Been sorting out his clothes today to put all the stuff he has outgrown in the loft it is qite emotional doing it!!!! Am keeping absolutely everything though so as to save expense when number two comes along. Me and DH had good talk over last few days and deceided we are trying for second baby when Daniel is 2. I am doing a degreee part time starting in October so I am hoping to slip it in while I am doing that {LOL!!!!} Eeker

Chloe - Nice to hear front you. You are doing soooo well on the breast feeding front. I wish I had kept it up for longer but with going back to work early for one day it made it difficult. Hope the wedding plans are going well - keep us posted how you get on!!!

Anyhoo am stalling really. DH out with the boys Daniel asleep and as per usual nothing on the flaming box! Mad

Hope the rest of you are well.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hope you all had lovely a Christmas. We did but Mason was overwhelmed and had 3 bad nights getting off to sleep until we came home and he got back to normal.

I have weaned him off his dummy too, he only had it at night to go to sleep with so it wasn’t too bad and after 3 nights of 30 mins, 20 mins and 10 mins crying for it, he now goes straight off which is great. He does wake at 5.30am every morning though and I don’t know how to stop that. He is going in his own room this weekend and I’m hoping that as he can’t hear my DH alarm go off in there, it may stop him from waking. I just hope it’s not too much of a habit. He goes back off to sleep but it can take up to 30 mins some times and I can’t sleep while he’s gurgling and warbling away in his cot.

Well, my boss has agreed for me to return part time so I will only work 3 days a week which is great. I get Wednesdays off so can still take Mason swimming. She did put in my contract that overtime payment is not guaranteed though so I am trying to sort that point out but I’m sure it will be fine. I can’t work over and not get paid for it, I doubt she would do that!

Chele, I go back to work on the 12th Feb – BOO!!!!

Mason is now having cereal in the morning, veg at lunch and fruit at tea time. This is as well as his milk of course, he absolutely loves everything I have given him. Including courgette which he had for the 3rd time today!

PJGirl, I sorted all Mason’s clothes before Christmas and it is sad isn’t it, they seem to be growing so quickly.

Having Mason weighed again tomorrow and can’t wait to see what he is now, he’s a real solid little boy now and is really packing it on now he’s on solids. His poo is really different now too, has anyone else found that? One day it came out like a tennis ball, I don’t know how he got it out! LOL!

Love Carla and Mason x

Happy New Year!!!!

I hope you all had a great Christmas. Ours, as you can imagine, was very noisy but great fun! Far too many toys for the little ones and far too much of everything for the others too!!!

Katie had an activity play table which she loves to sit in her bumbo and play at! And obviously a mound of other stuff too!!! She had great fun pulling all the paper off - her face was a picture!

She had an awful cough/cold over the Holidays and spent very little time asleep! She was right off her food and milk too so seemed to be constantly starving too! She is just getting her apetite back and her sleeping is going back to normal - thank goodness! Comes as a shock when you are used to them sleeping through!

Carla/PJgirl - i have sorted through Katies stuff twice now - i do get a bit tearful thinking she will be my last! She has outgrown most of her 3-6 month stuff now!

Sharon - My DH had the snip a few weeks ago and like you i was really on/off as to whether i wanted him to go ahead - trouble is i'd go on having babies for ever but i guess you have to draw the line somewhere! The bill for 6 kids prezzies etc at Christmas probably proved we did the right thing!!!!!! I will miss going through it all again though! Still with the eldest being 18 now it might not be all that long before grandkids start arriving - and at least you can send them home!!!!! (That said it best be a fair few years yet!!)

Dan is just over 3 too and he really enjoyed Christmas this year - like you say he really understood what was going on!

Louise - congratulations hun xx Have you set a date?

Well - i hope everyone else is ok.

Love
Karen
