Hi ladies, thanks for the lovely comments about Ben's story, we really are very proud of our special boy. He's showing us what a little soldier he is right now, he has a nasty stomach bug and yesterday was projectile vomiting and today he has terrible diarrhoea. On top of that his teething is really bad, but in between the puking and crying he's still his happy smiley self, my little star!

Louise I had no idea Antonia had cystic fibrosis, it must very hard to see your daughter in and out of hospital all the time, and very stressful. I hope she's doing well.

HI KATE - YES ANTONIA WAS 6 WEEKS OLD WHEN SH WAS DIAGNOSED VIA THE HEEL PRICK TEST, THANK GOD THAT THEY DO TEST IN SOUTH WALES AS THEY DONT TEST EVERY WHERE IN THE COUNTRY.
ANTONIA IS VERY WELL AT THE MO A TYPICAL 7 YEAR OLD FULL OF ATTITUDE LOL. WE ARE VERY LUCKY AS SHE UNDERSTANDS HER CONDITION AND WHY SHE HAS TO TAKE SO MUCH MEDICATION AND HAVE FREQUENT STAYS IN HOSPITAL FOR IV ANTIBIOTICS.
I HOPE BENS TUMMY BUG GETS BETTER SOON. I NO WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT THE TEETHING THING AS MAIZEE IS ALSO SUFFERING.
TAKE CARE ALL
LOVE LOUISE AND MAIZEE X

Hi all
Hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for Christmas! Cant beleive its only 2 weeks away, its definitely crept up on me!
We started Abbie on some baby rice last week as she seemed really unsettled between every feed and had started waking in the night again. Well she loves it and gobbles it down and seems much happier and content again! Should I leave her on just rice for another week or should I try her on something else? whats the best thing next?

Kate - I hope Ben is feeling better now

Bubbly - great to hear from you and that Fleur is doing so well. Its good that you arent moving until after christmas, last year we moved on 15th dec and it was a BIG rush trying to do that and get ready for christmas at the same time (the morning sickness didnt help either at the time!!!)

Chele - the joys of being back at work hey! Hope your little ones have settled down now!

Carla - Are you ok? we havent heard from you for a while? hope you and Mason are doing well

Big 'hi' to everyone else! xx

Hi Lynn, i gave Ben just plain baby rice once a day for 2 weeks or so, then I introduced some butternut squash mixed in with the rice, then I tried carrot and swede mixed in a week later. When Ben consistently finished all his food each day I started to give him solids twice a day. He has rice or banana porridge at midday and veg or fruit puree at 4pm. Made him sweet potato today and he really liked it, he wasn't keen on the apple puree which was a surprise, he's a savoury boy!

Hi all

Just a quickie from me I am swapping broadband so in theory should be quite straightforward but if you do not hear from me for a while you know whats happened to me!!

Kate - I have also read Bens story how ver very lovely it was to see him thriving - well done!

Louise - I agree with what Kate said it must be hard for you seeing your little girl in and out of hospital. I know from my experience when I was in with Daniel when he was born its an awful experience and you worry yourselves silly about them so its great to hear shes doing so well.

Anyhoo best get cracking with this broadband thing else I will be still doing it this time tomorrow!

Hope everyone else doing well.

Hi everyone. Hope everyone and their babies are doing good. My son Patrick who will be 5 months on Saturday has lost 9 oz since last week. I asked the nurse and she seemed to be a little puzzled about why he would because he's on breastmilk, formula and cereal. But she said not to worry cause he looks like a very healthy baby. I'm still worried though so I started him on baby food to see if that might be what he needs. Anyone have any other idea what might be going on?

Patrick's first tooth broke through on the bottom yesterday Big Grin

Thanks!!
Wendy

Hi guys i am back! Was quicker than i thought!

Wendy, Daniel was struggling to put weight on the other week he only put 2oz on. HV advised me it was because he was starting to teeth and it knocks some babies off there food. 9oz doe seem a lot though. I would take him back next week just to keep an eye on it.

Hi all

Kate - thanks for that, I am still giving her just rice at the mo and she is gobbling it down now! Although she has just learnt to blow raspberry's so spits a lot of out all over us both!! little monkey! Roll Eyes She woke up again in the night for a bottle last night, I am hoping it was just a one off, she cant possibly still be hungry with 5 bottles and her rice each day!

Wendy - I'm sorry I cant help with Patricks weight loss, it does seem like a lot to lose but maybe its just his teeth upsetting him a bit and now its made its appearance he will hopefully calm down again! How's bedtimes going nowadays? Its much better here, still have the odd night where she expects to be rocked to sleep but we dont give in to her!

PJ Girl - hows Daniel doing with his rice now? it took Abbie a good few days before she got the hang of it, now she loves it and grins and kicks her legs in excitement when she sees the spoon coming towards her!

Big hi to everyone else! Hope you are all well
Lynn xx

Hi Lynn

He is doing ok with it we are just taking it quite slow. I spoke to my hv just to check I was doing the right thing and she seemed happy me putting him on it. She recommended giving it two weeks on rice then starting him on some vegetables. I am thinking about adding some apple or pear in his rice at weekend have you done this yet? Think taste it bit bland for him.

Anyhoo best go now its my xmas party tonight. Luckily my sister is coming up to watch Daniel while I get ready because last time I got no where he waited til I was trying to get sorted and then he wanted to play/!!!!!!!

Hello everyone,

Sorry not been on for ages, hope you’re all okay. Have tried to catch up on the posts and I see lots of people are weaning now which is exciting.

Kate77 – I read Ben’s story, how lovely that you got to share it with so many others.

Mason’s news – he was Christened on 26th November and it was a lovely day. We began weaning on 4th December and so far he’s had baby rice, Carrot, Parnsip, Sweet Potato, Butternut Squash and Banana and he’s doing well with it. His weight was a bit iffy for a few weeks and he was only putting on about 2 ounces every 2 weeks but since he started weaning, he put on 15oz in 2 weeks! PORKER! I did put him on hungry baby milk too though because he’d been waking in the night again but didn’t want any more milk in the day, what he did have just wasn’t filling him up.

Mason weighed 14lb 14oz when he was weighed last week so it seems he has some catching up to do.

He semi-sat up on Sunday, my Mum popped him on her couch and he pulled himself forward and was sat on his own. He was a little slumped but he’ll get there. He rolls over and sucks his feet too, he’s quite obsessed with them which can make it hard to change his nappy!

I saw my boss on Monday about returning to work and everything she said about her willingness for me to work from home etc has gone out the window! So for all this time I’ve been assuming I can work some time from home and now I can’t. I have written to her today requesting to return part time, 3 days a week and kind of job share with the lady who covered my maternity. She said she would stay on if she didn’t have to do some of the aspects of my job so I guess it depends if we can work it out. My boss wants to retain her also but can’t afford us both and can’t afford to loose my skills so hopefully she’ll see sense. Fingers crossed!

Ultimately though I don’t want to go back at all! Absolutely dreading it.

Anyways, happy Christmas to everyone and cherish every moment with your little bundles on their first Christmas! I’m so excited!

Love Carla and Mason xxx
