hello

sorry its been so long - keep peeking at this site to see how everyone is doing but never seem to get a chance to actually post!

things are going pretty well for Sam and me...finally have some kind of routine but i am lightyears away from sleeping through the night, i think! Sam is a real guzzler, he takes 5-6 oz of milk every four hours and even though i have put him onto hungrier baby milk at night, he still wakes every 3 and a half to four hours at most! I thought the one benefit of formula feeding was that they sleep longer?! We put him to bed at 7, then wake him at 11 to feed him, and he usually sleeps til 2 or 3, then wakes for a feed, and goes back to sleep pretty easily and sleeps til 5 or 6...then he is awake for an hour or so before another sleep til 10 ish. So its not so bad, we get enough sleep, its just i can't ever see him sleeping til 4 or 5 before waking for his night feed!

He is totally forumla fed now, my milk dried up after a couple of weeks of mixing breast and bottle - he got bored of breastfeeding and would have a little suck then fall asleep, but knew the bottle was coming and he was too lazy to feed properly. I expressed for another couple of weeks but then it got to the point where there was nothing there. But he is thriving on aptamil and i feel a lot better than i did in the first few weeks so i guess it is working for us, though i think i will always feel sad that we couldn't make the breastfeeding work for longer.

Glad everyone else seems to be doing really well...seems we are all much, much busier these days!! I will try and look on here more regularly! Its great cos i am seeing a lot of the NCT girls so most days i am out of the house, but it means that i never get much free time when i am home..by the time i have sorted sam out to go out and then done the whole bath and sleep routine thats the whole day gone! But he is really gorgeous and smiley now so its well worth it!

oh well...time to wake him up for another feed in a minute. we try to do feeds at 7,11, 3, 7, 11 and 3...not that it often works out like that! but hey ho.

Love to all and babies..speak soon

hi tallgirl
nice to hear from you

you say you put sam on the hungier food at night, i found that when i put my daughter on the hungier food, it took about a day to get into her systerm, so maybe with him only have the 1 hungier baby bottle, it might not be working,
i would try him on hungier with all his bottle, but its only my opintion, please dont take it the wrong way

Bernadette is an angel, she the calmest of all my 5, the only time i hear her cry is when she is tired, so shes a god send
im going to get her weighted tomorrow, so will update how shes getting on, she was 8lb 11oz when she was weighted 4 weeks ago
shes 11 weeks old today, the time is just flighing by, but im enjoying every moment with her, make the most of it now im steralised and know there will not be any more children,

sharon, hope leland is ok now hun, we really need to catch up

hi to everyone else

Emma, xx

Hi,
My posts are few and far between at the moment. Charlie fast asleep so instead of the dreaded housework thought I would catch up on here. He is still not really in a pattern at night but he is going for longer.
My sister gave me a bumbo seat but I thought he was too young. I think I will try him when he wakes. He is so big he is now in 6-9 month clothes! What happened to my little baby!
I am already on the countdown. Only 8 weeks till I am back at work and I am dreading it! Charlie had a trial run at the childminders cos I had to gop on a course on Mon aft and he was fine. She is going to have him a few more times before I go back to work.

Hope you are all well

Chele

OMG Carla is that for real! ugh it made me feel sick. Never heard of them before think i'll stick to those squeezy rubber ball thingy's for snot removal lol

Hope everyone is well I had the most amazing night. Gave Ben his bottle at 9pm, took him to bed awake at 9.30pm, put the lightshow on and left the room - not a whimper! he was defo awake for 1/2 hr quite happily before he dropped off, anyway he slept til 8am with a quick dreamfeed at 3.15am. I usually dont take him to bed until his 11pm feed but thought it was time try putting him down earlier. So glad i did i wonder if this was a one off or not.

Carla - that is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen!! It cant be real surely!! ewwwwww!!

Kate - I hope it wasnt just a one off for you, its great when they finally start to sleep more! I already feel more human again after a week of Abbie sleeping for 7hours through the night!

I'm thinking of putting Abbie into her own room at night now she is more settled. What do you all think? Are they too young really? I can see it only being another month or so before she is too big for her moses basket anyway then she will have to go in her cot. I was wondering if I start putting her moses basket inside the cot it might help her get more used to it for the future??

Chele - I'm dreading going back to work too. Its a horrible thought isnt it! I would love to be a full time mum at least for the first year but finances wont allow it unfortunatly!

I'm going out tonight with my sister, it will be first time dh has looked after Abbie on his own! I hope shes good for him!!

xx

llynnn - I have had to put Mason in his own room for now as we have just moved and are decorating our bedroom first. He is fine and loves his travel cot as he has loads of room in it. His little arms and legs kept getting stuck in the bars of his crib so I would have to move him to something bigger soon anyways. When our room is done I will move him back just till he sleeps regularly through the night.

House move is chaotic, going to stay at my paretns tomorrow for 2 nights while DH and FIl do painting and stuff.

What is the rule with gloss and babies? Gonna look it up now!

Tallgirl, great to hear from you, I know what you mean about not having to time to post.

Taking Mason to baby clinic tomorrow to have him weighed. He been snuffly too so will just have him looked over.

I got a normal plastic suction bulb thing and so do my friends, they're fine. Mason finds it rather amusing!

Hi all!!

Lynn - Katie has been in her own rom since she was about 3 weeks old! I find we both sleep much better than when she was in with us! My other 4 all went straight into their own rooms as soon as they came back from hospital! I only kept Katie in with us as she was being so sick - she went in her room once she was on the staydown milk and it was "staying down"!! I tend to find that when they are in the same room you wake up at every little noise they make and end up getting up to feed them when they may have just gone back off on their own!

Carla - that video is awful - i have a new dyson - just imagine all that suction!!!! Ouch - doesn't bare thinking about!

Chele - the tickers were a nightmare to get right - took me ages!!!! And God knows how i did it - i faffed around for so long i haven't a clue!!!

Hope everyone doing ok.

Katie is doing really well. Sleeping brilliantly - goes down after her 9pm feed and doesn't stir til 6am ish which is ideal. She then goes straight back off to sleep so that leaves me time to get up and get the others up and ready! She is awake a lot now during the day and is really giggly and smiley! She has a good nap between her lunchtime and teatime feeds (she's fast off now!!) so that gives me a nice rest - well except for Dan running around like a nutter!!!!

Sharon we haven't heard from you for a while - do let us know how Leland is - been thinking about you since your last post xxxx

Hi Louise

We took Katie swimming on Monday and she loved it! Let out a good squeal as i put her in the water - it was fairly cold!!! But then once she got over the shock she giggled and splashed away! We only had her in for about 10-15 minutes, obviously, so as not to let her get too cold - then she screamed when we took her out!
