Hiya, Jack started teething about a month ago and latelyhe seems in real pain in the mornings and evenings. Iv tried Bonjela, which he just licks off, and iv tried Calgel which is a bit better but is only a 5 minute solution.
He is on Baby rice and rusks now and has been for a week which somehow has madehis pain a bit better but are there any other things i can try to ease his pain!??
Oh...and another thing...what age are they roughly when theycut their first tooth? as i can see his bottom two quite clearly already!

Hey, teething's a real pain - for everyone concerned! I never gave Ethan any of the topical treatments - I gave him a shot of tempra or tylenol (i think your equivalent is calpol) The Bonjela and Orajel did nothing for him. I also gave him homeopathic capsules which works if it's a real crisis pain but for the throbbing ache that I beleive they feel when the tooth is worming it's way up I'd try a shot of real pain killer, baby tylenol or something. Ethan was a real early teether, started at about 3 months but only got his first one at about 7 months - but then they came in batches, sometimes 3 or 4 at a time! Good luck.

Hey Sarah,
One thing my doctor told me is always give the right dose of any medication - when you said a small spoon, don't give him less of a dose because you don't think he's really in pain or not really ill - if you give him the medication, give him the proper amount or it won't work. Also, I was always reluctant to give Ethan pain killers but again, my doctor who I trust and admire told me, "if you had a terrible tooth pain, you'd take a pain killer right?" It's not bad for them, they don't become addicted to it etc. So anyway, if you do give him the medicine, give him the suggested dosage.
Hope it works

Thanx Caff. On the bottle it says between 3months and 1year dosage is 2.5ml - 5ml spoonful, i have been giving him 2.5ml, but it doesnt seem to work when he is in real bad pain so i may give the 5ml. Thanx, i was abit worried about dosage.

Hello all! I've had 3 kids and the best advice I can give for teething is - GET SOME TEETHING POWDERS!! They're the best thing ever and with all my brood the second I put the powder into their mouths their pain seemed to stop for a while. They're completely natural and you should be able to get them from your local chemist - good luck.

PS: Nelsons is the brand I am using this time around, but I'm sure I used a different brand last time.
