hi i have a 3 yr old dd. tbh my problem started when we decided to tell her she was gonna be a big sister. she is suh hardwork at tea time. breakfast and dinnertime shes fine will sit and eat quite happily but come dnner time no matter what i cook she picks at it and hardley touches it. the only thing she will really sit down and polish off is pasta. its not like she doesnt like the food cuz shes eaten it a hindred times before and if i sit next to her and feed her( i know its wrong but a few times i hae odne it out of sheer desperation) she will eat it all. i get so frustrated at meal time cuz i just know whats coming i dont want to make an issue of food and i dont want to force her to eat as i am all to aware of the negative affect that this can have on her in later life.

the thing is she is hungary cuz if i replaced her dinner with a yoghurt or toast or a sandwich she'll eat it or if i feed her. i just dont knwo what to do i have tried everything i dont like her to eat out at granny or us all to eat out cuz i know the scnen it will cause. my mil says im too hard on her at meal times but i just want my child to eat??

any advice welcome.

I dont have a 3 year old to contend with, but ive had my moments with my little girl! Some times have been hard - like you no matter what i gave her she wouldnt eat it and it got thrown on the floor which is so frustrating.
I dont want to speak too soon but things are going really well now. I dont make a big deal out of meal times, if she doesnt want to eat then she doesnt eat - but she knows that theres nothing else. I know it can be really hard when you know they havent eaten it, but if they know that theres something better on offer then they will try for it! I didnt get stressed when isabelle refused to eat either - i think they pick up on that, and i think a 3 year old would especially and i think she would play on that, they are very clever little things!
I think you just need to be persistent. If she refuses to eat then say that there is nothing else - and follow through with it! i know its hard, but she will soon learn!

hope i havent sounded patronising in this post, although i only have isabelle i have a ton of nieces and nephews that ive had this experience with!

either way, i hope you get things sorted out quickly!
