Evening Girls,

Marie, Can't believe you did the race for life. Well done girl!!! I am so out of shape i couldn't even contemplate doing anything like that but i would love to. Did you have to train for it?
Yes Alfie moves all over his cot and has taken to sleeping on his front all the time...somtimes with his legs tucked right underneath him and his bum shooting up in the air. I figure it must be comfy for him so i don't move him. He hasn't been banging his head though. Sarah's idea look good though.

Ali, thanks for your concern hun....i feel like i've rambled on and on the october thread! Anyway i saw the doctor today who is refering me to a mental health clinic to get assessed. I can only go from there really but hope that they can help me.

Zoe, You mean you don't save your old stiletto's to plant flowers in? i thought everybody did that?
Thanks for the compliment hun...it was a rather more flattering shot than i was expecting. Yeah i did manage to lose most of my baby weight but still would have liked to lose a bit more. So d'ya reckon i'm carrying a girl then? That would be the icing on the cake. At least if i had a girl now there would be no pressure for the third pregnancy....hark at me!!
Those naff top tips make me laugh...by the way can i just say that i do not buy take a break or any such mag but occasionally when i am at the doctors surgery and one is laying on the table i may have a peek Big Grin Wink
Anyway one 'top tip' was saving old jam jars in case you run out of drinking glasses when you have guests round for dinner Eeker Pur-leeeze. Roll Eyes
Yup, Alfie is in 12-18 month clothing already. So if they are looking for a good home Alfie will get good use!
I LOVE that video of your little darling standing up...she is so gorgeous! What a clever little madam!

Baby, poor little Liberty Frowner That is an awful lot of money for some cream..i am so glad we get free prescriptions here. I hope it manages to sort it out for her. Does it seem to bother her or cause her any pain or anything? At least now that you know you can sort it without it becoming a problem in later life for her.

Back later
xx

Hi all

Zoe the video is gorgeous and she looks very proud of herself when she eventually gets up bless her. The ring is a great idea to cushion the falls. Life in NZ is good, getting colder now though. We have less than 3 weeks until we leave for the UK. We will have 2 weeks in Brisbane with the in-laws which should be a bit warmer and then arrive back in Blighty 7th July by which time the summer better have bl***y started or I won't be impressed. I do like this life of dodging winter so far though as I am not enjoying the colder weather here, although it is pretty mild still. They had real bad snow this time last year!!

Oops Tyler awake already, will be back to finish this off before you all wake up!

Hi Girls

Thanks for all your sweet words about Violet.....I will pass them on to her! Big Grin

Summer...glad I'm not the only one that doesn't bath their kids that often!!!! Red Face
I must say that Violet is also lucky if she gets two a week and like you I find it easier during the day!
The other two have them every other day or so..usually before playschool...really depends on the weather aswell.
Violet had her 9mth check today and I was talking to HV about Violet not really being in a good nighttime routine and I often have to get her to sleep in her chair downstairs as she just crys and stands up if I put her straight into her cot............the HV recommended bathing her everynight BUT did say that they don't actually need to be bathed that often ( phew ) but obviously it is good for their routines. Its finding the time though......I expect you feel like that too Summer?

Just out of interest does everyone else have a set routine for your little ones now ?
What do you do at night ....do you put them into their cots asleep or let them go to sleep on their own and do your little ones stand up and mess about before actually falling asleep?
You'd think I'd know by now but my lot have always messed about as babies......always had to rock them to sleep or creep them into their cots half asleep..........it's ok when they can hold their bottles and drink their milk in their cots to get themselves off to sleep but I find this stage really awkward when they start to move about more.

Anyway .all ok at her check...had her weighed and she's just under 18Ibs .........still on the right centile or whatever.

So if you took those gorgeous photo's then summer shouldn't you have had credit for them ( where they usually say the photographers name ) ..how does that work then if they use your photo's?
What magazines are in the pipe line then?
Can't wait to buy That's life so I have an excuse to read it!!! ha ha ha

Babyusa.......poor little Liberty.....was it something you had noticed or it was the HV ? Sure it will all be ok in no time atall.
Glad the check went well.....that prescription was a bit harsh though hun Eeker Eeker Eeker Bet your purse is abit lighter now!

Peardrop.........come on hun.....you are amongst friends now.............just admit that you read Take A break like the rest of us !!!! Big Grin
As for Jam jars...what a fab idea!!! Lovely thick glass too so won't break easily!! GENIUS!!!! Big Grin
I think you should put your foot down and find out the sex at the scan!!! Summer has a good point actually.....it's a surprise anytime isn't it and great to know now.........I found it exciting to find out Violet was a girl after the birth but at the same time it was just all too much to take in as everything was exciting. I think it's good to find out before especially if it is the sex you actually really want as makes the pregnanacy more exciting! I guess you have to respect DH aswell though.............I am with Summer though in that my DP didn't get much say in anything!!! I chose all the names for my 3 but I have to say that DP wasn't overly enthusiastic ( sp? )about names so he was happy to let me get on with it.....I could have called Violet something like Esmerelda or something equally bad and he would have just said ' that's nice dear' ! Roll Eyes Eeker

Anyway Sarah I'm worried about you now hun.........haven't read much of October thread.......will read it now and see whart's been going on.......hope you are ok hun. Will mail you later xxxx

Mosh.....pleased you mentioned BB as I missed the first night and then another night but I just couldn't resist getting into it and it gives me something to look forward to each night......that really is sad isn't it!!!
Can't wait for the rows to start!!!!

Babydust........good to hear you are settled hun.
How long will you be home for during the summer?

Right saving this before I lose it!

Hope I haven't missed anyone........missc, Autumn , Ali, Kerry ......hope you are all ok xxxxxx

P.S Summer...know what you mean about seeing pregnant women.........when I saw Sarahs pic I thought ( more the tiniest second ) how nice it must be to be having another baby but I quickly dismissed the idea!!!

What do you think then............do you think you'll have more?!!!! 3 is an odd number!!!
I think if I did have more it would have to be when Violet was at least at pre school......as you know 3 kids are hard work!!!

A friend of a friend has just had her 4th child and her other kids are similar ages to my 3 ......bizarre that she has 4 kids under the age of 5 !!!
I think she's pretty loaded though so has childminders to help........goodness knows how she'd get about !!

Oh I went to Winchester on saturday.......thought of you as I was trudging up the hill and said to Martin how I wondered if you had taken all your 3 out on your own yet and how was it ?
Also whilst I was in town I saw a double pram with a really cool seat that was fixed to the top on the double buggy for a bigger child like Daisy..........it looked really good!

Hi girls

Missc - great to hear from you and glad that Harry is doing well. Big hugs for Friday's appt - are his blue episodes as a result of his heart or are they unconnected?? Let us know how you get on.

Zoe - all those money saving ideas - stilletos, jam jars etc etc - I'm gonna save a fortune (or were the jam jars Peardrop's idea???)

Talking of Peardrop - how much does Alfie weigh/measure if he's in 12-18 month clothes already?? Darcey is just beginning to reach the end of the 6-9 month stuff but the 9-12 lot is huge on her!! Keep us posted on the mental health stuff - I had PND very badly after both dd1 and ds and during my "treatment" got really quite involved in the whole thing so shout if you need anything/help/advice etc etc (shoulder to cry on/rant at etc etc)

Babydust - bet you're looking forward to coming home (how long are you here for, or have I missed that bit??) although the weather isn't that great at the mo. Hopefully by the time you arrive summer will have properly arrived.

Right, as to routine at night Zoe, I take D upstairs between 6 and half-past for a bath (see previous comments re bathing every night and matted hair!!) then I give her a quick massage (which is getting less and less now that she wriggles away), into pjs, milk, story, teeth, into grobag, song and throw her unceremoniously into bed, say night night and leave her to it!! Sometimes she complains but mostly she goes to sleep (at least I think she does, coz I only check on her when I go to bed - does that make me neglectful??) Then I run downstairs, do the bottles before it's time to put ds to bed. Don't know if that helps at all but last Saturday we went to a BBQ and I didn't bath her or do her normal routine and I had a devil's own job settling her so I guess I'm abit like Marie in that I'm terrified that if I don't do the full monty, she won't settle.

We have gone forward facing in the car now - I know I said I was going to wait until she was nine months but I picked up the baby seat yest and it was sooooo heavy that I thought s*d it - and put the new one in the car. D's face was a picture - it was as if she was saying "who put this lot here??? - and she fell asleep in it so can't be too uncomfortable.

She also managed to headbutt (is that the right expression?) the leg of her cot this evening when she was trying to crawl around her room and banged her forehead which came up in an almighty cartoon bruise - goodness did she howl!!! The first of many, I guess!!

It's funny to hear you guys discussing having more babies - I was reading back through our preggie thread the other day (just for the hell of it!!) and it was really funny remembering it all. I can honestly say though that there is no more babies for me - firstly dp has had the snip (have I mentioned that before - probably?!?) and I have no desire to do it again at all - but I did like being preg - esp with Darcey (up until the end and then it was just uncomfortable) so I guess I kinda miss my bump too!!

Anyway - must go now (this turned into a bit of an epic) - dd1 will be back from Brownies any minute. Hi to everyone else and speak soon.

Ali

Ali hun

You are super Mum!!! I wish I had the time to do all of that!!!
It obviously works though!!

I know I have asked this before but whne does Darcey sleep in the day.........is that usually the same times?

I find that if Violet wakes at differnt times then it determines when she feels like sleeping in the day and sometimes she just goes all day without sleep and then sleep at 4 and like tonight we have her up all night!!!
I watched a documentary on single young mums once and a really fab Nanny came in to help them sort out their babies routines and she told them not to sleep in in the morning waiting for their babies to wake e.g 8am but to actually wake them the same time every day like at 6 am and then put them to sleep at 10am or whatever but theres no way I'd wake myself up at 6 and wake Violet!

Honestly my 3 have never been the type of babies that just lay in their cots and go to sleep..........even when I have tried routines they still mess about!!
I tried putting Violet to sleep after being awake most of the afternoon and after a bath and she still just got up and got herself all worked up!!

Think I will try the bath thing if it means it will help get her to bed at a reasonable time.

Honestly I should have this licked by now but I still feel like a novice!!!

Right, will try again but probably won't get very far as Tyler has been asleep for an hour already.

We are coming back for 3 months hopefully. We have rented our house out here for 4 months but will be spending the first 2 weeks in Brisbane with the in-laws and then would like to have a little holiday somewhere on the way back. DH hasn't sorted out work yet and he will be in London while Tyler and I are in Cardiff with my family so it will depend how that all goes really. I am so looking forward to seeing all my family and friends though.

We have a nightime routine with Tyler. He has tea about 5 then in the bath about 5.45. Milk around 6.15 then we go to his room for a story and finish off the bottle. He is in his cot between 6.30 and 6.45 and most nights goes off to sleep without a sound by 7pm.

Tyler is a very hyper baby and we worried what he would be like being strapped in with the Safe T Sleep but he hasn't complained once. He still sleeps on his side as he can roll on to his sides but not on to his tummy in the wrap. Not sure what will happen once he starts crawling etc but for now he is happy in it. Its great too as it can be used on a single bed so when we are travelling we don't have to rely on having a cot everywhere we stay.

Sorry for the lack of personals but running out of time here. Just to say good luck to Misc for Harry's appointment on Friday. Hope Liberty and Darcey's bruises heal soon! Peardrop hun have just read a bit of your Oct thread and sending you big ((((hugs))). It must be very hard coping with Alfie and your morning sickness etc and also worrying how you will cope when the new baby comes. Fingers crossed that the MH referal helps you to feel better hun. We are here for you if you need to let off steam.

Hi to everyone else and hope to chat again soon.

Sarah xx

Summer - i wonder if that means i will need a guard for a long time! i though everything would be ok once he could move about. as for the bumps, i think nurseries expect a little of something, especially if they know it is a child is clumsey there too!

peardrop - the race for life is not that bad at all so no i did not have to train for it. anyone could have done it (although maybe best not for you in your position). it was 5K (about 3 miles) and it took about an hour (with a toilet stop). You do know that none of us believe you about not buying take a break! LOL or is it just that i want everybody to be as sad as me?

zoe - after i had dragged dave up to watch (who is a man and therefore did not shair my enthusiasm) i phoned my mum and mad her look. she thought it was fab and i kept hearing her play it again and again.
Lennon is not standing yet so we do not have that problem at bed time but we go upstairs at 6:00 and he has some time with his nappy off then in the bath about 6:20, out, dry, creamed and dressed for bed by about 6:45. then breast feed (which he is snubbing more and more each day in favour of his thumb) and then into bed (usually awake) at 7:00.

missc - good luck with the appointment on Friday! thoughts with you chick.

Ali - dont want to be a wet blanket for darcy now she is enjoying her new view but did you know with the new laws it is illegal in the UK to have a child under 9KG (about 20lb) facing forwards. just with you saying she is still in 6 - 9 month clothes she may not be. i just leave the rear facing one in the car now and put him in from my seat instead of the passenger side.
lennon has always followed the 50 percentile line with weight but has dropped off at the mo, but he is a real short arse and is under the 2nd percentile. i asked hv if this may be why he is not moving much yet but did not really get an answer.

sarah - definitely like the idea of being able to use it on a single bed! and if he could still turn on his side then it should not be a problem (i dont think). now it is just the money factor, for such a short space of time.

well can finally tell people as she had a scan yesterday - my sister is expecting her first baby (a little boy) and he will be due in dec. i have told her she should join the boards but she says she is not too sure if she has the time. i told her that they can actually be adictive at times and time will nopt be an issue. (that was a ramble!)

Hi Girls

Awww Mosh that's lovely that you got your Mum to have a look at Violet! And yes I know what men are like..........they kind of pretend to look at things but you can see no interest........lights are on but no-ones home...!!! Big Grin
Glad you mentioned the car seat weight...I didn't know that......that might explain why these infant seats are made to be used to longer now?
Violet is just under 18IBs ( what does Lennon and other babies weigh girls?)and I intend to keep her in her seat for as long as possible. Mabel is still under weight for the seats that use adult seat belts so think we'll stick to what we have for the time being.

Just looked in Violet's book and she has always been on the 25th but is slightly above that and inbetween the 25th and 50th.
Length wise she is 70cms is that much bigger than Lennon? .. ( you'll probably only know his length if he's had his 9mth check )

Thanks for the night routine details..........Violet was a little bit better last night.......I plonked her in her cot and she cried for a while and I kept going in and laying her back down but she got into a real state. So I got her out to rock her to sleep and realised she's had a poo!!! ( Which didn't help matters )
So changed her and then gave her some more milk and rocked her a bit and got her to sleep and then into her cot.
I don't mind rocking her to sleep ( providing its not for an hour!!! ) but ideally it would be good if she got herself to sleep.

I will give it another go later.

What I hadn't realised until the HV pointed it out is that when I bring her down stairs for her milk sometimes after a bath or when she has her bed clothes on she can see all her toys and thinks that its playtime and not bedtime so I haven't been helping myself by putting her in her chair to sleep in the evening and then taking her upstairs once she's alseep. The HV said to stay upstairs from 6/7 onwards so that she knows it's bedtime.
Kind of hadn't thought about it like that! Might still be difficult when the other 2 are being loud and noisy!

Anyway I'm determined to get the little girl into a routine so I can have some evening to myself!!

Right, boring bit over.......who's watching BB apart from Mosh and Peardrop?
Poor Ziggy last night getting dragged into the girls bitching....Emily was lying and blatantly denied saying that Chanelle had a game plan!!!
Poor guy needs some more men to go in to be his back up!!

Anyway it's my birthday next week......grand old 32!! ( Blimey that sounds old! )Any other fellow Gemini's on here ?

Best go.............the girly has woken and will want her milk

Back later

Hey Girls

Missc great to hear you and the family are well-good luck and best wishes for friday-let us know how you get on, remember we are here for you whenever you need to chat Smiler

Well Liberty is fine-I have no idea if the cream is working although it does look a bit different down there-I have to put the cream on twice a day for 3 weeks and then take her back to see if it has 'opened up'. I googled it and there were real mixed reactions to using the cream at all but it seemed to say if it didn't sort itself out she would need surgery down there when she is older-the doctor's point of view was to try and sort it now while we are changing diapers and cleaning her bits anyway rather than leave it until she is older and may be upset by it-if left it can cause recurrent infections and discomfort so I hope we've done the right thing-side effects can be development of breast tissue and mini periods amongs millions of other nasty things Frowner The developmental checks here are done by a pediatrician or experienced nurse-no health visitors. They always check their bits and pieces and check them head to toe-they still do with the boys at their yearly checks too-sometimes it is a bit OTT
and we pay for the privelidge, its all about the money here. She weighs 17lb 3oz now and is 26inches...oh dear baby crying-will try to finish off later xx

hi guys!

zoe, you would think i would need the check to know the height but in the beggining i was obsessed with knowing and took him every week. although i am not as bad now (mainly due to lack of time now i am at work) but i took him on monday and asked for length as well as weight. he is actually only 67cm (three smaller than violet) but i think girls and boys differ as i have a 'boys' chart. we should compare some of the averages at different weeks to see by how much! and his weight was 18lb13oz.

missc, good luck for tomorrow.

Just a super quick one to say hope all goes well for you and Harry tomorrow Erica. I can't remember... is it a VSD hes got? Jake had a ventricular septal defect when he was born but it was so tiny that it has thankfully closed up already. Will Harry be having an op fairly soon if its affecting him a lot now? The prospect of heart surgery must be terrifying Frowner
Huge hugs xxxxxxxxxx
