I breast fed fine overnight but since this morning i've had no milk letdown (i can really feel it normally). Harriet has been screaming and kicking at the breast and i've had to give her some of the expressed milk i had stored. I've tried expressing but literally only got a few drops out!! I don't know what to do, please help!!

Hi rusty

That link that Sarah put up is really good. Also remember that just cos you aren't getting much off by expressing doesn't mean Harriet is getting the same amount. Babies can extract your milk much more efficently than a pump. Have you had a more than usual busy time? Can you feed lying down and trying to relax? Are you drinking plenty of fluids?

Also remember as time goes on you can feel the let down less and less. Could it just be that? Any other reason you can think of why she might be fussing?

Hope you get sorted!

I've been really busy today and not had time to sit down and relax properly, i'm hoping that's the problem. Thanks for the link Sarah, that was really helpful. I think i've just got myself into a bit of a panic about it. I've just given her another bottle so i know she's fed and will try to feed her again later.

Thanks for the advice Laura, will try what you've suggested.

Make sure that you saty calm, drink lots of fluids and eat well. Massage and warm bath can help the flow aswell.

And Babyusa is ace at things like this.

I breast fed all 3 of mine so hope these tips help you aswell. xx

Hi Rusty,

I have had the same as this, i think its a combination of a hungry phase for baby and getting used to feeding and the sensation not being so strong.
I have fed Sophie normally but at night
b4 she settles she is demanding more, getting frustrated cos she has drunk me dry and then me feeling like i dont supply enough. (never expressed so no spare bottles either)
I have been drinking plenty, and trying to feed reguarlly through the day to build demand up, it worked in that yesterday she was full at breakfast and then didnt want much during the day, which left me at bedtime with a simmilar problem once she drank that!
Try the usual things but put it down to Harriet having a hungry phase and remember as we feed more the sensation does lessen, fairly soon it is normal to put baby to breast and not get too much of a sensation, remember the toe curling pain at the start, then its just the let down, then that should ease too.

Hope i help, like i say Sophie going through the same, i keep being tempted to supliment with a bottle but i know i can do it, i have 3 times b4!!

Take care

Pinky xx

Baby usa- think i'm eating and drinking enough although as i said yesterday i was busy so didn't have lunch til 2.30pm.

Pinky- Harriet's put on 9oz this week so think she's been a very hungry baby!

I woke up this morning with massively engorged boobs!!! Was lucky really cos Harriet just had her first vaccines and really needed the comfort of feeding after.

Thanks everyone for your advice, i'm hoping it was just a one off and am making an effort to drink more and rest today.
