Hi everyone, just wanted to pop on quick while I have 5 mins!!

Glad to see everyone seems to be doing ok with their little bundles Big Grin

Luca is now 1 month old today. Boy doesn't time fly!! He now weighs a whopping 9lb 15oz, which is a weight gain of 2lb 2 1/2oz in a month Eeker
Poor little lamb has a rotten cold (which he has caught from his dad, and now given to me! Mad lol) Which is affecting his feeding a bit, due to the fact he can't breath out of his nose, so the routine of feeding every 3 hours has been vastly reduced and his feeds now lasts longer and is distubing his sleep too. hopefully this will get better as his cold starts to get better Confused

Was changing Luca's nappy tonight and he decided we needed a fountain on the living room floor Wink Luckily this is a rare occurance, and he has only done it 3 times...so far lol

Summer - I'm sure Jake's weight will improve, especially if they cut his tongue tie on wednesday. Luca still has a bit of a problem latching on sometimes, and it seems to be mainly on the right hand side for some reason... hopefully when we go to the hospital for his appointment on 7th feb, they will correct it too Smiler

Anyway, little man wants feeding...

Oh... and just to say.. Daisy had a bit left on her tummy button and it has kind of shrunk back more now and looks fine. Its not an outy exactly, but has a bump in the middle of it. Was sticky and horrid for weeks after her cord dropped off.

Loocy: Katie hated her bath and change also till about 3 weeks, now she loves the bath and not a peep on clothes/nappy change. Glad alls going well for yous, seems youve both settled nicely!
Hope her belly button corrects itself xx

Jo: Can you try infacol to help get that wind up?
works really good. might help xxx

Laura: glad the towel worked! poor little thing with the rash still! wish I could offer more help/advice but never really had an issue with either boys there. ((hugs)) for Katie and hope the airings and new cream help real soon.

Kt! Good to hear from you.
re public feeding: When I used to do it I would wear a button up shirt and drape a bunny rug over my shoulder so ppl couldnt see. maybe practice it at home first Big Grin
Dont worry about the housework hun! hard I know but it will get easier as weeks go by and things will eventually fall back into place, only just this past week Ive been able to get more done.

Hiya - I was being nosey again reading all your posts! I can't believe your little ones are a month old already, they grow up too fast don't they?!

JoeyJo have you tried gripe water, its quite good for wind. When I was breastfeeding I could hardly get Ben to burp at all but now he's on the bottles he could burp for England, it can be quite embarassing sometimes because people think its me or OH because he does such loud ones & sounds like a little monster haha.

Vicki your AF sounds just like my first one after giving birth. I wasn't sure if something was wrong as I was on for just over 2 weeks, I started feeling light headed & dizzy at times & I lost a few clots aswell one of them the size of a 50p piece, I burst into tears thinking something was wrong when I seen that one but it sorted itself out in the end & here I am again AF has returned. I never realised how much I hated AF until not having one for a while, such a pain in the butt isn't it! haha.

Laura another good cream for nappy rash is Kamillosan. Most people use it for sore nipples when breastfeeding but its for nappy rash & nappy chafe aswell. A friend recommended it to me, her little girl had really bad nappy rash & it worked a treat. Hope it clears up for your lil one soon.

Tina saline drops are great for babies with a cold. You put a drop up each nostril before a feed & it makes them sneeze a few times & clears their nose so it makes it much easier for them to feed. You can buy them from the chemist & they are quite good.

You have all settled into motherhood really well haven't you. I can't believe you are dressed before noon already! I love reading your thread, I'm a bit addicted! haha.

Cheek wiggles to all your cute babies!

Hiya Laura

You can get it from any chemist I think, I got mine from Boots.

Have fun at work! Your lil one will be rich when she comes out if people do the traditional thing & cross your babies palm with silver hehe.

Hey ho!
Got the results back already... he has a bad urine infection and septicaemia.
The antibiotics they started him on last night will hopefully do the trick, but he'll probably be on them for 10 days according to the consultant I saw this evening. He said he had a long way to go Frowner
Thank goodness we were going to the hospital everyday and everyone leapt into action. They've been so good to us in the SCBU. Jake was in isolation (he should actually have been admitted to the childrens ward elsewhere in the hosp rather than SCBU but they took him back to make it easier for us) and now Tom has moved in with him so they're in their own private little room together.
Am totally shattered!
lots of love to all mummies and bumps xxxxxxxx

Hi Summer - Now the doc's know what is wrong with Jake, I'm sure he will recover quite fast! It's good that Tom can be with him in the same room too Smiler You should try to get some rest with them both being at the hospital, cause you will need all your strength when you get the both home Big Grin Hopefully the hospital will give you another appointment for the tongue tie pretty quickly once Jake is home again too?

Michelle - thanks for the tip on the drops, will get some from the chemist tomorrow and try them Smiler

KT - When I'm out and about I have a baby blanket with me and I drape it over my shoulder to block the view, unless Im in a feeding room, then I don't really bother to cover up, cause after all thats what the room is for Wink as for doing the house work...sod it, the most important thing is that you get you and baby sorted, not the house lol

Vicki - your comment about being dressed before noon made me chuckle! Unfortunately I have no choice in that, as I have to take Daniel to school lol Razzer Shame about the AF turning up already, do they not think you have enough to deal with without sticking that on you as well LOL Mad

Jo - Luca was having a big probs with his wind,
I used the Infacol for a few days and he has no probs bringing it up or down now, In fact he is so loud sometimes I think it DH! Big Grin

Laura / Loocy Hope you are both doing ok.

Hello

Summer - best wishes to Jake, hope he makes a speedy recovery. Nice though he's with Tom. Smiler I'm not surprised you're kn@ckered, hope you're managing to look after yourself as well as your wee ones. It's difficult finding time to sleep isn't it and i only have one!

Loocy - I am Gina Fording it! Alfie feeds 7am, 10am, 2pm, 5pm, 7pm, 10pm, 2am (roughly) and it seems to be working at the moment. I like the fact I know when i'm meant to be doing something, I'm so uptight about things I find it reassuring. I'm hoping to venture out in the pram myself today. Smiler DH went back to work yesterday. Frowner

Trips out seem really daunting to me still. But I'm getting cabin fever! So need to get out more.

Laura - sounds like Katie's doing well. I'm going to check behind Alfie's knees now!!! DH picked a bogey out his nose the other night with a pair of (sterilised) tweezers!!! I thought he was playing a game of operation!!! Big Grin

Hope everyone else is well. Take care x

Hey Summer hun just catching up and so sorry to hear about poor wee jakey the wee lamb. But I'm glad they've worked out really quickly what's wrong with him and can get him fixed up and I'm sure Tom will be glad of the company for a bit!! It must break your heart leaving both of them. Poor you but you are doing so well - you really are amazing!

Happy one month Luca. Wow time flies doesn't it. I can't believe Eilidh's been here two weeks already but then I can't imagine life without her.

Laura I'm really sorry if my comments about skin to skin were a tad insensitive - forgot about the harness and felt really bad when you reminded me. Sorry babe Frowner

Mari - what's gina ford like??? I haven't even read the book although sometimes feel I ought to - mind you, we've not really read any of these books. Plenty time I keep telling myself.... And getting out the house will do you the world of good Smiler. We try to get out the house every day now even just for a half hour walk round the block - it really knocks her out for a while!! Apparently getting daylight between 12 and 4pm helps babies sleep better!!!

Is anybody out there using reusable nappies? We are considering it as a lot of my friends swear by them - would like to hear of any good or bad experiences??!

Thanks for the reassurance about Eilidh's tummy button - it just looks so horrible and it's a big swollen outie too... Frowner

And vicki thanks for the reassurance re the bath and nappies. Hope things will get better soon as she really doesn't like it at all!!!
Take care all -

love
Loocy xxx

Hi everyone!

Summer - hope there is an improvement with Jakey today! Sending you our love!

Loocy - please don't feel bad - I didn't take it to heart and think it's lovely you are doing the wrap inside the dressing gown thing. I will hopefully be doing that again in four more weeks (and counting). Not sure I could bear it if they say it has to stay on another month but I'm sure I'll cope. I fed her yesterday with just a towel wrapped round her bum as I was trying to keep the nappy off as much as poss - managed to get by without incident!! She is currently lying on a towel next to DH in bed with her nappy off again (rash still bad!) so secretly hoping she wee's on him. he he he.

On the reusable nappy thing. I really really want to use them and have some trial ones BUT she was too tiny at birth (and I wasn't up to the extra washing with my wound!) and now I would never get the cloth one under her harness. DH's parents have given money for me to buy them though for when she comes out of the harness. There are loads of websites you can visit for advice (nappylady.co.uk offers a free nappy advice service - just fill in the questionaire) but the best thing is to try and speak to someone who has used them. My friend is and she highly recommends it. Yes there is the extra washing but the machine is on that much anyway what's one more extra load every other day??

Mari - would you recommend Gina then? I have the book on my shelf but am a bit scared to pick it up again as I did pre read some but thought it was terribly strict and was frightened of failure!!! Do you think Alfie likes the routine? I might try and give it a go. Like Loocy said - I have been trying to do some normal things and getting out and about. It does get easier and is much better if you can take someone with you. I had to get out for her hospital appointments but have also managed some shopping too! Big Grin and I can't tell you how much better I felt!!! I'm lucky I have my Sis to help - only 2 more weeks before she leaves work herself!

Tina - happy one month to Luca. Hope you are doing good. Where did that month go? Katie is a month on Monday! cannot believe it!

Well, have visitors (the ones with who use reusable nappies!) coming this morning so better get washed!!!

Have a good day and weekend everyone!

Lx (and Kx)
