OMG tons to catch up on so this might be a long 'un. Might do it in two lots so i don't lose a long post either...

Well, news from here. Work is sh*t but then it always was going to be. i've put in a formal request to work part-time (as is my RIGHT, I told my boss) and she gave me a big long lecture about fulfilling responsibilities, workloads, etc etc so have a funny feeling she's going to say no. Am desperately hunting for a new job - it's not the concept of working I have a problem and I'm kind of enjoying getting back into the routine of working (and earning some pennies!!) so I just need to find something part-time which is proving harder than I expected. Anyway will keep you posted am sure.

Eilidh is absolutely loving nursery - she was there for the first time for 3 days last week and had such a ball. And the staff there are just so lovely and reassuring and we get a little report at the end of each day telling me when her nappy was changed, when she pooed, what she's eaten and a big smiley facey. I know what you mean about the food thing, Laura, as they gave her crisps (??? crisps to a 8 month old????) but they do feed her up and they love her as she eats everything - my god, for one dinner last week she had crumpets, rusk, crisps and yogurt. She just loves the food bit!!! But, on Friday night she started having diarrhea so has obviously picked up a nasty tummy bug from the bugs going round at the nursery. I mean, my friend told me they get everything going once they start at nursery but I didn't think it would happen that quickly Eeker Poor lamb - she went off her food, which is why we knew she was so ill!!! Anyway the doc said not to give her any milk as it's difficult to digest, but easy foods like bananas and carrots little and often and lots and lots of water. So she won't be back in nursery til she's clear of the bug, and I won't be going to work either.. shame, eh??? So hoping she'll get better soon as she's really not herself the poor wee thing. Well, it'll toughen her up and get her immune system strong I guess!!

Other than that, she's tearing around, crawling into everything, pulling herself up into everything and she's started cruising round the furniture although you can tell she's not quite sure of what she's doing!!! she grabs everything adn spots things from across a room and just goes for them.... she can crawl so quickly now... zoom zoom!!

As for her 8 month check, it was fine and the HV (one that I've not seen before) was fab when I told her about all my concerns about her babbling. She said if things hadn't progressed by the time she was a year, she'd get me a referral to a speech therapist which seemed fair enough. Anyway, about two days after the check, Eilidh went straight to proper babbling, bababbabab, daddadadad, etc so she obviously just didn't want to start til she knew what she was doing.... anyway am relieved as she's dead chatty now!!! Can't shut her up!!!

Right, am going to post this and then have a catch up one with everyone else as this message is a bit me, me, me!!!

oh forgot to say in my mega marathon post that her christening was just fab thank you and we had such a lovely day, although we were knackered by the end. I'll dig out some photos and do a montage thingie at some point in the next 10 years or so....

VICKY hunni so glad to hear you're still with us... thanks for getting in touch and letting us know all is ok. Know what you mean about being busy. Can I ask a personal? have you been prescribed your second lot of clomid by your gp or are you going privately? just wondering how I'm going to get hold of some when we decide to try again (god I sound like a junkie!!! Wink) Fingers crossed it works just as quickly second time round, eh Smiler

Summer glad to hear all is well with the boys and their check was good too. They sound like they are doing ever so well!!!

Sam - oh hun hope that operation comes round really quickly and you get it all sorted. And hope you get Alfie's weaning things sorted out soon. Poor lamb he needs some FOOD!!!!

Mari - cheers for clearing up the DH job decision - less money but better prospects is the way forward. That's what I'm aiming for too - it would be so soul destroying sitting in ajob for over a year knowing that you're not going anywhere so glad to hear that he's moving on!!!! Good luck!

Laura - hope Katie-boo starts to enjoy nursery soon. My trick is to sneak out the room when Eilidh is engrossed in something else!!! Mind you, Eilidh has the attention span of a small gnat (I'm sure she's hyperactive!!!!!) so she tends to forget about me within about 2 seconds of me leaving. Aw but bless her, when I come back ,she crawls towards me with the biggest smile on her face!!!

Just wondering from mummies of girls, are your little girlies turning into right daddy's girls yet??? Eilidh suddenly seems to be a daddy's girl - smiling away at him, reaching up to be cuddled by him.... mmmm....

Sorry if I've missed anyone... thing I've taken up enough webspace for now so hope you are all well and hope I can post with some good job news soon.. we shall see!!!

love and cuddles

Hey there

I've got a spare two minutes, so same as Loocy, quick catch up then personals.

I'm at home this afternoon as I had to do a mercy dash home as nursery phoned to say Alfie wasn't well. Feel guilty as hell as he had a runny nappy this morning, but as he seemed his usual self I dropped him off. Well, he had another one and started getting hot and has a rash on his tummy Frowner Hopefully it's not a horrendous dangerous rash, done the old glass test... I'm heading off to the docs at 4 for reassurance. He's sleeping at the mo. Cried my eyes out all the way home. A boss was fantastic and actually drove me home from the city (I'm approx 20 miles from work)

Loocy, it's right about nursery. They get EVERYTHING and back to back and so do you! Alfie's had 4 colds, icky eyes and now this! Eeker It's really worrying. I fret badly about taking time off work, although luckily today is the first time I've had to do it. People are understanding to a point, but if happens all the time.......

DH HATES his new job... at least he does at the moment, I'm sure of it. He's not saying much to me as he knows what a worry bucket I am. He's trying to keep an open mind, this is only the second week after all. Hopefully it'll get better, need to at least feel like we made the right decision.

Where are you all finding the time to do photo montages??? I've not looked at them yet, will try to. Most of my free time is doing housework and ironing.

Still haven't given Alfie any jars, only the freebie one from the Bounty pack. But it's hard going. I'm figuring only another 3 months and then he'll have what we have.

I can't seem to get him to take his afternoon milk out a cup. Any suggestions? Are the rest of the babies drinking milk from a cup yet? Alfie still only takes 2 oz of water at a time if I'm lucky. But I'm hanging on in there.

Summer - boys sound like they're doing great! Are you watching the Bringing up Baby program? (I guess we all will be Big Grin ) When you say sleeping in your bed, do you mean in your own bed with you? How's that going? I'd be scared i rolled over on top of Alfie!

I'll sound awful, but last night, I agreed with almost everything the nazi woman said Big Grin She's painted as the evil one, but I more or less follow her advice, apart from not cuddling your baby and making them sleep all day and putting them outside.

Loocy - I'll keep my fingers crossed something comes up on the job front. At least you've got 3 days till New Year (that's right isn't it?) I think bosses can get round flexible working rules just by spewing about for greater good of the company blah blah! You'd think they'd want to keep a hold of reliable staff instead of forcing them elsewhere. I've tried recruiting a few times and it's an absolute nightmare, the amount of donkeys out there is scary!

Laura - Good your nursery will let you take food in. Mine won't, but luckily they haven't given Alfie anything dodgy. They have their own cook and work on a 4 week rotation menu, so I know what he has every day. Hope K gets better at dropping off in mornings, I'm dreading day they start holding on to our ankles! Big Grin

Sam - best wishes for your op. What on earth are you going to do for child care? Will nanny help out? dh sounds like he's working himself intot eh ground, hope you're both ok. x

Vicki - so good to hear from you. It's a little sad we all just don't have the same time to be online any more. Lots of fairy dust magic to you for ttc. Just post a big "WE'RE THERE!" sign when you get a result Big Grin Can't believe K said her first word, pressure's on the rest of us now! Smiler

Anita - hope your move to Norway went well or is about to go well. It was October wasn't it? Would be good to hear from you when you get set up. x

Jo/Tina - hope you're well if you're reading.

Think that's us all isn't it?

Love to all baies. Speak before Christmas if I get a bloomin chance!!!! Big Grin

Hey, just back from docs and googling the diagnosis.

Alfie has slapped cheek syndrome!!!! Big Grin Nearly giggled in the surgery, hadn't heard of it before. But he's displaying all the symptoms. No medication for it, just let it run its course, so he'll be a wee sorry boy for the next couple of days. Poor wee man. Frowner

Also just noticed he has tooth number three coming through and it's on the top but third from the front!!!! How mad is that? Almost everyone says the front four come in first. Smiler

Anyway that's my chat for mow. Feel better now I know what's up with him.

Anyhow, short version: Good luck finding a part time job front.
Love your montage, what a cutie!!!
Katie's not really a daddy's girl just yet but can see it coming, shes just tightening the wrapping round her finger for a good grip first hahahaha.

Katie also has a gastro bug or something, a week now of the most disgusting poops! and some gagging and occasional vomits. Shes much improved today though so hopefully on the mend.

got to run, lots to do am off out shortly and Katies asleep so must take advantage it and get things done lol

Hey hey... lots to read up on!
Will look at your montage in a mo loocy Smiler

I think Daisy had slapped cheek shortly after starting nursery too Mari. She got absolutely everything going. From when she started in the Dec to the end of March there wasn't a single week when she wasn't snotty or spotty! Watch out for chickenpox come March, though its better for them to have it younger. Daisy was 8 months and sailed through it. Her cousin had it a year later at 2 yrs old and suffered loads more and still has scars on her forehead.
Anyway.. hope Alfie is better soon!
And also Katie, Vicki. Poor girl.

Have only seen the most recent Bringing up Baby.
Yep... Jake is in our bed Mari. He sleeps between us... and takes up more room than either of us do! Hes only there because it got me more sleep in the earlier days...after his readmission to hospital with septicemia he came home a very bad sleeper and was so much harder to settle than he had been. I've not quite geared myself up for getting him into his lovely new cot yet. Definitely tackling it in the next couple of weeks. Have some good nights when he'll almost sleep through, and some bad when he'll just want to suckle constantly.... but even then its not too much hassle.

Loocy... hope the job hunt turns up something good. Yay on the babbling front! Jake has given up on the dadadadas now and concentrates on his mumumumummmmms Big Grin

Had an interesting email through TAMBA tonight from a researcher for The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures (broadcast on Channel 5) wanting to talk to me about Jake & Tom. Have emailed back saying it sounds interesting. Will let you know what happens!

Thats all for now. dh away AGAIN Mad Mad Mad so am off to bed before all hell breaks loose later (can tell its going to be one of those nights. Daisy piped up over the monitor after being in bed for an hour and a half that she wasn't tired Mad Took me an hour to get her to lie down again inbetween giving the boys feeds)

Hey girls
Oh mari hun so sorry to hear about Alfie's poor slapped cheek, the wee lamb. Hope he gets better soon. I guess you're off work til he's better? Eilidh went back to nursery today and apparently she's fine so far which is great. I had a ball not working this week but all good things have to come to an end, eh? And I don't have enough annual leave to keep this up very often!!!

Summer - dont' worry we didn't tie the balloons to her, she just sat down for a photo right in front of them and then tried to crawl through them... she's gotten over her fear of balloons and even tried to sit on one at one point!!! Bless...

Bringing up baby just makes me so mad... I get so cross when they try and make out like there is ONE way to bring up your child...grrr Mad Anyway I'm definitely of the Dr Spock approach - the thought of carrying them around with you 24 hours a day?!???!?

prepare to be shocked... I was!!!

BFP Eeker Confused Smiler

F**k not sure what we do now.... but anyway I reckon I'm due in June - just under a year and half between them. DH is more pleased than I am, I think as all I can think about is going through pregnancy again.... even the thought of labour isn't as bad as the thought of those last few weeks... So munchkin is likely to have a little brother or sister, all being well.

Well, at least it means job-hunting is off the agenda for now. Am still shocked so will post more when I have my head round it all...but just wanted to let you guys know. I can't believe that we tried and tried for over a year and only got pg on clomid and then ONE QUICK BONK (literally....) and here I am. So let this be a warning to you all.... Wink
