Hi Michelle
Thanks for your kind words. Makes a difference to know I'm not alone. I'm making bottles up in advance too. I just worry about the hour thing because I tend to heat it just before I wake him so he's not crying so I feel I've 'wasted' 10 mins, if you know what I mean.

I just need to chill out and relax about the whole motherhood thing. I get worried if he sleeps too long or not enough and if I'm 5 minutes out of sync with the schedule I'm trying to follow I freak! I should be going on instinct but I keep referring to a book. Though I have noticed I haven't been as bad over the last couple of days Smiler so maybe i've turned a corner.

Is everyone else the same? For my sake I hope so (sorry that's bad isn't it?) Smiler

Love to babies x

Hi Everyone..

Mari - you have a schedule??? hats off to you!!! I really wanted to have some sort of routine but it's just not happening!!! I'm finding it hard to relax about mother hood too - every little thing worries me!! I know you still feel sh*t about the BF thing but it sounds like you are coping well with the transition to bottles - there are bound to be a few worries to start with. I must admit I find BF such hard work it has crossed my mind a couple of times that I wish I was bottle feeding...but don't tell anyone cos it makes me feel really guilty to even admit that!! There are def advantages to bottle - you know how much they are getting for a start!!!! and like Michelle said - other people can help out. I despair slightly when Dh says "er...Laura I think she is looking for food again..." Frowner

Summer - I don't know if I said already but your boys are so adorable (as are all our babies but I feel like Jake and Tom are so special after all they have been through!!!). I know you are worried about the weight thing but they do look really good (from their photos at least) and it seems like some progress has been made. I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel for you soon. It's gotta be easier when Tom can finally come home. You must be exhausted and like Mari says I can't admire you enough!!

Vicki - gld to hear Katie is doing so well - it's lovely when they are awake isn't it!!! Had our Katie out again today and I just love it when she takes it all in!

Loocy!! Glad to hear from you and that you are well! I agree - the faces they pull are hilarious aren't they!!? we too have a mountain of pink clothes - isn't it amazing how generous people are!!! They are all massive on her at the moment though but at least we won't need to buy anything for the next few months!! I did actually go and buy her a couple of green outfits the other day just for a chnage though! Big Grin

Thanks to everyone who said poo every change is normal - really really put my mind to rest!! Summer - I am using sudocreme but it doesn't seem to be shifting it yet. Vicki - I try to let her "air" her bum for at least half an hour a day but she hates it. Must keep perservering though cos I guess that is a good way to help it.

Supposed to get Kaitlyn weighed at the clinic tomorrow but midwife also due and I'm not sure the weighing would be accurate anyway cos of the stupid harness (as you can see I'm now totally fine with it - ahem!). Gotta ring them in the morning to see if she wants me to go to the clinic or wait in for her to come to the house.

Well, going to try and get an early night - have an expressed bottle for DH to give so I can get a few hours kip in a row. last night wasn't a great night and I'm suffering now!!

Lx

Mari -just saw your post about little boys pee!!! I have a girl this time but with my boys I always had a cloth handy!!! I saw these on ebay and in our local babiesrus-not sure if they have them in the uk, I don't think they were called the same thing in Babiesrus...maybe wee mate or something???? but if you look at them you will get the idea-if you are handy you could maybe even replicate it yourself???

hi Laura

Thinking that maybe she hates the "airing" as they sometimes feel falling effect without clothes on while laying on their back, have you tried her on her tummy OR drape a cloth nappy over her tummy/lower half? or both combined
just an idea..oh can she tummy lie with the harness?

gotta run Katie is tired and wants a cuddle to sleep I think..

xx
Vicki

Mari, I have a baby boy as well and had the same problem as you in the start. A friend of mine gave the advice of blow on his winkie before you remove his nappy completely and he should be 'shocked' into having a pee ... it worked for me Smiler

Oh Baby usa - the pee pee tee pee is hilarious. I love it and it made me laugh... I'll try Becky's advice first and if that doesn't work I'll hit ebay!

I got caught out again tonight Big Grin

Laura - v impressed with length of your post. You must have some schedule going to find the time. Well done for expressing enough for dh to give Katie a bottle too. Good planning. Smiler Re b/f: I guess the grass is always greener isn't it, we're never happy Roll Eyes

Hi there! Glad to hear everyone is getting on so well. It's great to hear how we're all settling in!

Mari - schedule!!? Are you doing Gina Ford? Would be interesting to hear how it's going. I'm completely baby-led feeding and she seems to have settled for her own routine about every 2-3 hours, even through the night and not bad hours, either - she's usually up at 10, 1, 4 and then around 7 or 8 depending on how much she's thrown up at 4!!!

Jo I know what you mean about being paranoid about putting them down and them being sick everywhere!!!

Did I tell you that the hospital got her birth weight wrong?! She was actually 6lb 12oz and not 6lb 6 and she's now a whopping 7lb 1 after only 2 weeks so the HV was well impressed she's surpassed her birth weight already!!!

She's got a little issue with her tummy button as the horrible midwife that gave me the episiotomy I didn't want also didn't really seem to cut her cord properly so it took almost 2 weeks to fall off and has left a little stumpy bit sticking out - it doesn't bother her but looks horrible Frowner The HV said if it's still there after a year ( Eeker) it might mean she has a little hernia and might need an op but not to worry about it in the meantime. Poor wee lamb. So it looks like she won't be a bikini model when she grows up.... Wink

Other than that, everything seems to be going really well just now although nappy changes and baths still seem to really stress her out. Like everyone else, tho, HV says she'll get used to it. Laura, I give her bum air time and skin-to-skin at the same time - so I take her nappy off before her morning feed, wash her and then keep her naked while I feed her, tucked under my dressing gown - she seems happy enough with the arrangement. It just breaks my heart when she's lying on the changing table screaming her head off!!! I've only been weed on a couple of times so far!!!!

anyway she's wanting fed again so better go

summer hun you and the boys ok?? Will log onto msn soon and post some more piccies

love
Loocy xxx

Loocy-just to reassure you, my DD had similar issues with her bellybutton-she developed a hernia a couple of weeks after birth and it got quite big, sticking out 2-3 inches at one point,it also took a really long time for it all to heal- we had to swab it with alcohol every now and again to prevent infection, we were incredibly worried but I'm happy to say that now at nearly 5 months it has almost completely disappeared Smiler We are definately planning on bikinis again now!!!!

Hi evertyone
Just a quickie!

Loocy - Katie has a funny tummy button too. Midwife said it could be a hernia but it seems to have settled down a bit (been bleeding a bit but not too much). wold love to have proper skin to skin with her but harness gets in way and I need to be careful not to get wee or poo on it!! Frowner got her nappy off now though as she's asleep on her change mat, (thanks vicki for tips - the towel worked!! weird how they think they are falling!)

Vicki - glad to hear you well. AF already!! what a nightmare!

Jo - good to hear from you too. I worry about the sleep/sick thing but you have to try and chill about it I suppose. Strill don't know how you manage with two little ones!! I am stull struggling with one!

mari - def with you on the grass is greener front. I think we need to give ourselves a big pat on the back (all of us!!) for doing so well! (and finding time at all to come on here!!! Smiler

Hope everyone else ok!

Katie has put on a pound since last being weighed!! Big Grin she is now 6lb 14!! Nappy rash still bad and breaks my heart when she cries when I clean her. HV suggested Metanium cream which dries it out better than sudocreme. Remains yet to be seen!! Also had harness checked today - she still seems fine in it but I had missed cleaning behind her knees. I felt terrible!!!but the nurse was really nice about it.

better go as still haven;t had dinner and I'm starving!!

Hey everyone! Just thought I would pop on here really quick while my mom has Alyssa. It has been a crazy few days. The first 3 days after giving birth were easy compared to the last week. Seems lil alyssa wants to feed about every hr during the day and only eat a 5 minutes worth. So she is hungry more often. At night she wakes up that same times as Loocy's lil Eilidh. And then she eats about 15 minutes worth at night. So it lasts a lot longer. Also she was having those fits for a couple nights. We finally got past that, by giving her Mylicone. I guess she was having gas pains. So now she sleeps a lot better if I give that to her. I am really wishing I could do house work, but right now she is stuck on wanting to be held all the time. And I have read that when they are this lil they need all the attention they want. So if she wants picked up that is what I am doing. Gives me no time at all since DH and my mom are both working again. They both work around 2:30pm to 10:30pm... this times I need help most. LOL, oh well I will make it through this. I finally got pics online of alyssa, and I had seen everyone else's pics. It is weird to see everyone's faces with their babies! But I have to say that labor was worth it and I am sure the sleepless night and days will be worth it too. So far BF has been working for me, luckily I haven't been sore. I would think with her eating so often it would start to hurt. Cross my fingers that don't change. I still don't know what to do about going out in public and feeding. So far what I have done was taken infant formula and fed her that way. But I know she didn't like it as much.

Well dd is crying, so I better go now. And I would just like to say WOW on how ppl can care for twins and more. GO SUMMER!! lol

Hi girls!
Just a quick ME post I'm afraid.

Jake was readmitted to SCBU this evening Frowner

One of the nurses commented yesterday that she thought he looked a bit pale. She didn't say anything else and just wandered off so I tried not to think anything more of it.
Today when he was weighed he'd lost 30g so the Dr and I had a big discussion about feeding. I know I've got as much milk as needed so the only thing I was concerned about was whether my milk was nutritious enough or not, but the Dr decided that after each feed I should offer him a bottle of expressed milk to make sure hes getting a good volume. I thought it was a bit daft but thought I'd go along with it for a couple of days 'til his next weigh.
She also decided he looked pale so did some bloods on him and found he was slightly anaemic. I then left for an hour and when I went back the rest of the blood results were in and they showed he has a major infection of some kind. They then did his temp and it was 39.6!!
So he was admitted and had to have a lumbar puncture to check for meningitis etc (not actually sure what the etc is!!..but other infections like that). The urine sample they took from him looked very dodgy apparently so its probable that he has a uti, and if thats the case he'll have an ultrasound to check all his waterworks. We won't know much until Friday morning apparently.
Hes in isolation, on iv antibiotics and hooked up to lots of bleeping monitors again Frowner Broke my heart to leave him there tonight.

Will check out msn for pics now Smiler

Lots of love xxxxxxxx
