Thanks Everyone! xxx
Finally have some time to spare between getting a routine happening.
Kaitlyn has been quite restless last 2 days, brings up the wind fine halfway but after second half it doesn't come easy so her sleep is quite restless.
Am going to try the gripe water later today after DP gets me a dropper to use it.

How is everyone else doing?
We have been out shopping a few times and she is such a pleasure! Either sleeps through it all or just gazes around at all the lights from her pram. She also seems to love the car, not one complaint from her there either. Overall she is rather easy going about everything really, even her im hungry cry isnt really all that frantic.
Im so lucky to have such a happy go lucky baby.

Almost feed time so better go get some things done while I can as the mummy nap is due after this feed lol

Hugs !
xxx

All the dec/jan babes are here!!

sorry if this is stilted. typing with one hand, and my left at that.

KT, hope you're settled in at home now and enjoying Alyssa. is your dh back at work already? Have a feeling you said he wouldn't be able to have any time off.

Laura... how is Kait doing today with her brace? I mst go back to the preg thread and l;ook at the link you posted. Ithink i have a fair idea of what it'll look like. poor lamb, but I'm sure it bothers you a lot more than her, and like you and the othewrs have said ..thank goodness the problem has been spotted now so that it can be fixed as soon as possible. the next few weeks will whizz by and she'll hopefully be out of it after her next appt.
Ooh... thank you for the lovely card Smiler
And thank you Tina too xxxx

Mari, how are you feeling today? Remember that the 1st 6 weeks are the hardest. With Daisy I suddenly realised when she was about 10 weeks old that I felt like a proper mummy and not like someone pretending or trying to be one anymore. I had so much more confidence and things came much more naturally by then, and I'd stopped carrying my Baby Whisperer book around with me everywhere Smiler
I can't say more than the others already have about feeding. Please don't beat yourself up about it. One thing that no one has mentioned though.. is the drug you can take to increase your supply. Dom Peri something. Women with babies in scbu are given it quite often as their supply isn't good or dwindles with just expressing, and some women just don't have enough in the 1st place. I've heard it works fantastically for some people but doesn't do much for others, and as far as I can gather you take it as a once off... its not something you take everyday. may be worth asking your midwife about it if you really don't want to give up the bf??

Loocy... how are you feeling now?? Hope Eilith is geing a good girl and you're recovering well from the birth.

Vicki... you lucky thing having smiles already! We're lucky if Jake keeps his eyes open for ten minutes here! Think we'll have to wait another few weeks for the smiles to appear. At least hes stopped doing the cross eyed thing already Big Grin

Jo, hows Isaac doing? What does he weigh now? My little boy is still little... 6lb 10 but the hosp don't seem overly concerned that his weight gain is slow. Ha ha.. maybe hes waiting for Tom to catch up with him Big Grin

Tina.. hows Luca?.. I can't remember what you said a while back about his tongue tie.. will he have it snipped at some point? We discovered a couple of days ago that Jake and Tom both have it... am quite annoyed it wasn't spotted before as, now I know what it looks like, its really obvious. I thought jake's tongue looked a bit odd on Monday and when I got to the hosp I asked the dr to have a look. He doesn't think its a bad case, but I've got them to refer us to the expert in Southampton. Will hopefully have an appt for Jake in the next few weeks. His feeding isn't too bad, but I think it could be a lot better... he still manages to make my nipples hurt like hell now and again... have to reposition him quite a lot. Maybe its why his weight gain is pretty slow too.

Nicki.. hope Megan is being a good girl for you Smiler

Well.. Tom was weighed today... and hes now 3lb 2oz!!! ... and... hes out of his incubator and in a cot now Big Grin The Dr doing the ward round this morning even said that it won't be too long before hes allowed home now and its just his feeding that needs to be sorted. So.. as soon as hes breastfeeding properly he can come home... the weight he is at that point is not an issue. Going to have to find some diddy clothes from somewhere as he mostly wears clothes from the hosp (and most of those are still too big!). So... it would be fantastic if we got him home before the end of Feb.

I'm sure there were lots of other things I was going to say, but I'm going to have to dash into town now while Jake is asleep after this feed. Hes decided hes going to feed every 1.5-2 hrs today Roll Eyes Starting to panic about having 2 babies at home... how will I have the time to do ANYTHING??? How on earth will I cope when they're both such windy boys.... I might get the feeding them at the same time thing sorted, but how do you wind 2 babies at once?!
And I really will be permanently smelling of sick. Nice Big Grin

Justlost a post and it's hard enough when you are doing it one-handed!! welcome to parenting!!

laura and mari - hope\you are both feeling brighter today. mari has dh done his first night time feed yet??! what a lovely way to bond for him i bet. Smiler

well today is our wedding anniversary and dh forgot how upset was I? still am.... Frowner it's only our third and i'd even written it on the calendar. i told him not to bother comunghome tonight!! he's spreading out his leave over a few weeks rather than taking it all off at once so he's worked 3 days this week and will be off now til mon!

mari - we all worry as first time parents so don't worry about worrying!!! i'm constantly checking eilidh's nappies to make sure she's weeing enough!!! and as for feeding at least with bottle feeds you can see how much alfie is taking in! i have no idea. It's all just trial and error really!

Summer hun sorry to hear about jakey's wee tongue - hope you can get him assessed and sorted fairly quickly.

can someone tell me how best to ensure that one breast gets emptied before starting on another? I have no idea and Eilidh always falls asleep before she finishes feeding and then I forget which breast she's been on when she wakes up. Now my boobs really really hurt as I think the milk is stacking up in both of them....and the last thing I want is mastitis Frowner

cheers - take care all mums and babes

love Loocy xx

Loocy - how's you? still a human milking machine??? me too!

Vicki - sound like you doing well and having fun with all thatr shopping! how's the wind???

where is everyone else??? hope you all ok.

typing left hand one handed so better make it quick. had miserable day really - trying to clean her this morning was rubbish but you are right - it is bothering me more than her so I just need to get over it!!! will post a [ic on msn so you can see her - looks like she is gping parachute jumping!!!

Just a quickie while I've got both hands free!

Happy anniversary Loocy! I hope dh makes up for forgetting when he gets home tonight. xxxxx

.. about feeding you just need to work out a method of remembering which breast she fed on last. At each feed just feed on one side, then at the next feed start on the other breast. Your supply will sort itself out pretty quickly.
What I do though.. if Jake has just been a bit snacky and wants another feed fairly soon after (say up to an hour later) then I use the breast that he last used.

God does that make sense??!

Hey Laura.. thank you for the offer of the sleepsuits Smiler Have got a fair amount in smallish sizes but none that are teeny (3-4lbs ish) At the mo the one up to 3lb one that I have fits him ok. Will have to go hunting in Mothercare methinks.

Will try and be back later.. got to get daisy into bed now.

Well I am still here. Just finally feeling up to getting around to do other things around the house. Our darling Alyssa weighed 7lbs 77oz and was 20 1/2 inches long when she was born. Lucky number 7's lol. She is the sweetest thing, and I enjoy bein a mom. The first night she slept all night and only woke up at 1:30am to feed, then went to sleep. I had to wake her up at 6:30 to feed her again just b/c it was time. I figured she would've woke me up. Then LAST night, it was a toughy. She screamed for 2 hours it seemed like, nothing would make her happy. She kept acting like she was hungry, opening her mouth and tilting her head, then sucking on her hand. So I kept feeding her, that would only work for 5 minutes after i would lay her down. I literally thought I was going to go crazy. She is still kind of cranky today, I just hope she isn't as bad as last night. DH didn't know what to do, he didnt understand why she would even be crying, which neither did I. The bad thing is right now, she still has jaundice, and I have to go to the hospital everyday and get her poked. I feel so bad for her.... Her feet have marks all over from all the blood tests they keep giving her. I am waiting on the phone call from the dr's office for today's results. Hopefully they are better. I am so tired right now, that hopefully I can get some sleep before her next feeding. So whenever I am done feeding her, I will get back on and do some personals. Talk to you all in a bit.

Hello

Just a quickie for Looocy, I used to put a hair tie on the same wrist I was breast feeding from then swap it over when when Ben had finished feeding so I knew which breast to use next - it was good because I could never remember! And apparently expressing a little bit of milk at the end of a feed & rubbing it into your nipple will help stop them getting sore, I did this aswell & it seemed to work ok for me.

Congratulations to all of you! I can't believe the last couple of weeks went so fast & you all seemed to have your babies at once. I used to read your pregnancy thread all the time & missed it for a couple of days & when I looked again most of your lil ones were here!

Congrats again!

Thanks Michelle! Big Grin
Summer: Congrats on Toms progress hun!

kt: Is it maybe that shes a bit windy hun?
That can make them think they are hungry.
Could be shes just still trying to settle in too OR
Theres a few things you could try:
Make sure shes swaddled ( wrapped up tight ) with hands and arms in and another blanket over that tucked into the bassinet to make her feel safe and secure like in the womb.
A soother as she maybe just comfort sucking.
A nice bath can help them settle and sleep better.
Hope that helps somewhat xxx
fingers crossed she settles for you soon.
As for the tiredness and having to wake her, the jaundice can make them like that, Katie had to be woken so much the first few days cos of it.
Hope her results are good today xxx

Loocy: when i was bf'ing I used a ribbon to tie around the bra strap of the breast to be used at next feed so I would remeber

Laura: Katies wind problem is all but almost gone.
I read on another forum that prem babies can have issue with bringing up wind and now that shes pass what would be term she seems to be much much better so looks like some truth in that. How are yous going? Settling in well?

The first 3 weeks are definetly the hardest but this week the 4th has been awesome! Shes settled so well, finally loves her bath and lots of day wake times to sit in awe at her and see that smile of course lol. She settles right back to sleep now so easily! Just grizzles and a wrap up and cuddle and shes out like a light and she falls asleep at night right away.
Ive been very very lucky with her.
Of course the tiredness is still here tho, pretty sure that wont leave me until she sleeps longer nights than the usual 4 hrs.

Its now 730am here and we had a 5 hr then a 3nhalf hr
I want to go back to bed but clinic nurse due for last home visit this morning.
So hard to work around schedules of others@!! hate it
think its coffee time lol

hugs all, hope your all sleeping well! xxx
Vicki

Vicki- I was thinking maybe she had gas or something. But thanks for the whole sucking for comfort thing, and saying that they sometimes think they are hungry. I was so confused on should I feed her or not. Should I if she does it again? I just don't know what to do with her when she acts like that. I did have her swaddled with a swaddler blanket, and wrapped with another. Then I took her out thinking that was a problem. I honestly was trying a lot. I wasn't so mad or upset b/c I was tired, I just hated hearing her cry thinking there was something really wrong.

Summer- I know I keep saying this, but I am so very happy for you that things are going so great! They are your lil miracle boys!!! And dh is kind of in a layoff season, where he could work anywhere from 2 days to 4 days a week. So today he got to spend the day with us, but yesterday when Alyssa was in a better mood, he had to work. So hopefully she will be better for him tomorrow. He don't have to work then. But he loves her so much that he don't care, he is a baby hog! LOL, that's what I tell everyone. He changes almost all her diapers. Poor thing got peed on, spit up on, and while changing her, she started pooping. LOL, I haven't had any of that done to me yet.

Loocy- That was a good question about bf how to remember which one. I too have been having a problem remembering that. So I am going to use my pony tail on my wrist and switch. I am finally getting used to feeding my baby. She wasn't on a good schedule at all yesterday, I couldn't get her to wake for me to feed her. Today she is doing great on the feeding every 2 hrs which was recommended to get rid of her jaundice. And so far she has woke herself up ALMOST everytime right on time. Which means I am not as sore as I was. My breast were getting so sore, felt like I was going to explode with milk. Still a lil sore, but much better. I think I am doing good with bf so far.

LauraMc- Your b-day is this coming Monday? Funny thing is, I was making Alyssa's 1st offical dr's apt and made it on Friday. Then later on, remembered my b-day was Friday! I forgot my own birthday. That is horrible. LOL

Well got some good news today about her jaundice. It went up a lil bit, which they expected, but hardly at all it went up. So we are done testing her everyday. YAH!!! She still has it, but today was the day it was going to peak. So hopefully everything is down hill from here. I can't wait til she is more awake and I can enjoy her personality! I am waiting on DH to put our pics on the computer so I can let everyone see her. I know how to do it, but I am lazy. LOL Well hopefully I can get a good night sleep tonight, talk to everyone later
