Hi all,

Just found this thread & wondered if anyone could give me some advice. Also may be able to offer support to others in similar situation.

My 2 month old baby girl has been in a great deal of pain since she was 3 weeks old initially being admitted to hospital after being diagnosed with viral gastro. (I wasn't convinced) Since then things got worse & she was constantly in a lot of pain when feeding, screamed all day & would not sleep day or night. She was prescribed Gaviscon & Ranitadine for suspected Reflux which didn't seem to help much & has now been put on SMA Wysoy for possible lactose intolerance which I have been asking the doctor about for weeks & was told we had to try other things first. I have noticed a huge difference in her since & she is now a much happier baby who cries a lot less & sleeps well. My only concern now is that she still fusses alot when feeding & cries out in pain for a short time afterwards before refusing the frest of the bottle. She has also been very sick about an hour after feeding today & has been bringing up most of her feeds. Has anyone else experienced this? Could she also have an intolerance to Soya?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

hey diane sorry to hear of your worrys,

i myself was milk intolorent as a baby and was placed on soya, it does sound liek it is helping ur lil girl, the pain could just be colic, or trapped wind, the sickness can be just the result from switching milks also the pain too, switching milks can take a lil while to settle down ur not bound to see any major cure straight away, some babies are just fussy when u feed them

maybe give her a couple of weeks on the soya and see if she settles on it if not then back to the docs, also soa is very expensiveu can get it on prescription from most gp's

sorry havnt been much help really but good luck

Thanks for your reply Kia, it is nice to know there is support avaiable as it is very difficult getting the doctors to listen. We are due to see g.p again tomorrow & will hopefully get a referral to a dietitian. She will have been on the Wysoy for a week by then. There certainly is a mass improvement though so fingers crossed it is working.

Thanks again
