Thanks hun, just read it.

Gonna take her to the gp this afternoon and see what he says. Went there before when it was just the projectile vomiting and he his response was 'babies are sick sometimes'. Very helpful. Now with the bad poos and the screaming with pain, I can't be fobbed off anymore. I just know somethings not right.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy hun. My Mia was an April baby xxx

Hi Karli

I just wanted to say that isabelle was put on a lactose free milk at about 12 weeks old. There was constant screaming with her at feedtimes, they said it wasnt colic and we had been through all the stuff for reflux so they decided to try her on the enfamil lactose free milk to see if that made a difference. It did make a big difference to her, but my gp and hospital basically couldnt be bothered to go down the route of trying to find out whether or not isabelle did actually have a lactose intolerance, they said it was too much hassle, there were a lot of tests for it and they didnt really see the point of doing them!!!

If you think your LO has this, then keep pushing for the tests! as it happens Isabelle doesnt have one as she eats milk, cheese etc!

Has she been tested for reflux just out of curiosity?

Hey hun.

Went to gp when Scarlett was doing the vomiting and he said that he didn't think that it was reflux. Tbh the diarrhea and pain is so bad now I really think that it's an intolerance/ allergy of some sort. Just hope that the doc don't try and fob me off because he can't be arsed to do any tests.

xxxxxxx

Oh i hadnt realised she had the runs too, i dont think that has anything to do with reflux.
Poor little thing, its awful seeing them unwell, i remember feeling so helpless when i was going through it all with isabelle.
I really hope you get an answer from the gp, dont be scared to ask for a second opinion, you know something isnt right so keep on until you get an answer!

Please come back and let us know how you get on this afternoon!

Hi Karli

My DD has a cows milk protein allergy. You may find this article helpful - it is about GPs misdiagnosing allergies as reflux etc.

article

I would go back to your GP and ask for a lactose free formula. Be warned though - they taste yuk! However, its worth persevering with them if your DD is in pain.

Good luck.

Hi KJ

Jake has been diagnosed as dairy intolerant although he has never had any tests! Roll Eyes He used to scream in pain after all feeds, pull his knees up, have horrendous dioharrea nappies one time then constipation next. We used to get through several outfits a day.

When he was tiny he was bottle fed but with my milk expressed and was fine but as I am dairy intolerant this was obviously dairy free. When he came home I had stopped expressing and the problems began. They said as I was dairy intolerant it was obviously that. He was also gicen infacol and thickener as the said he had colic and reflux too. He still has his milk thickened now but we stopped the infacol a couple of months ago.

Hope you have got some help this afternoon. Our doctors were rubbish, the health visitor put him on cow and gate pepti but this didn't help as it still has some lactose in it so she referred him to a dietician who gave him neocate which was like a miracle cure! He now sees the dietician every couple of months and when he turns one we are going to try to reintroduce some dairy.

Hope this helps
Mandy xxx

Thanks hun. Off to the docs in a mo so will let you know how I get on. Spoke to hv this morning and said that she can't give a diagnoses over the phone but that it sounds very much like Scarlett is lactose in tolerant.

Gp agreed that Scarlett was displaying the signs of lactose intolerance. Prescribed sma wysoy. Said to give it 2 weeks and if there is no improvement take her back and he will refer her to a paediatrician. 2 bottles of it today and so far no diarrhea/ vomiting or screaming. Could just be wishful think, only time will tell I guess.

Night all xxxxxx

Hi HUn
#
Joshua was diagnosed as lactose intolerant at around 10 months, this was after suffering badly from being weeks old. They said it was colic! Anyway he had constant projectile vomiting and very loose nappies after feeds. i took him to the GP 4 times and in the end i insisted that they tried soya milk. hey presto he has been a changed baby since!

hope all goes as well for you. Dont forget to check everything they eat and drink as lactose is in lots of things!

Hi karly

Glad the wysoy is working out for your little un!!!! Please contact SMA they will send you leaflets etc of foods that are safe to eat etc for when weening starts...

Joel did have vdery loose stools like jelly as you mentioned in the pregnancy thread... He was referred to a dietician but all was under control by the time i got the appt, We do try joel with dairy now as they say it should go away with age but Joel does display problems still so we just start the whole process over & over it does get easier though hun.... also look on the sides of jars if you are going to use them cow & gate does a great range lactose free....

I hope all is calming down for you both now

take care
