Hi Just thought I would let you know about that bug thats going round.
I had to rush alicia to A n E tonight becaause she was dehyrated as a result of not even being able to keep water down Roll Eyes the doc said she was not too concerned as she wasn't dehydrated that badly that she needed a drip so could take her home.
but got to keep her topped up with water hourly through a syringe, and give her calpol and nurofen every three hours.
so thats my good nights sleep gone to pot. Frowner

it starts off as a cold and then progresses into sickness and diarheoa.
it is very contagious, it was like an epidemic in there tonight Confused

Anyway off to bed for an hour now catch up with you all later.

It speads cos people don't keep the kids in doors when they are ill, they take them to the shops and even to school!!! A kid in my sons class was sick all night Sunday and on Monday he was at school as his mum said in the playground he has to go to school! I thought how selfish he is speading it to others!

I hope that all that are ill are better soon. x

Hi guys, thanks for all your messages Big Grin
Alicia seems to be a bit better today, but i don't want to speak to soon! lol
she ahs managed to keep about 5oz of water down and half a banana and is now hassling daddy to do her some microchips so lets see how these go...
we have done nothing but sleep all day Eeker Eeker and I haven't seen any dirty nappies as of yet..fingers crossed.
your right too musswells, i'm amazed at some parent's mindsets in alicias nursery when they bring their kid in poorly just because 'they have paid for it Roll Eyes
I pay Alicia's fees to but I still keep her off when she is ill.

Hope that she is on the mend now then babe.

yeah people are so damned selfish I know someone who got a tummy bug was ill all night and then went out to a concert. I said to her that she would spread it and she said that she did not care as someone gave it to her! I thought you selfish cow!

I did call the school about the kid in my sons class as is policy at the school and the government health authority that if a child is sick or has the runs they must be kept away from school for 48 from the last symptom. Any child returned too soon will be sent home.

Grrrr selfish people, what more can I say really. I hope that you and Alicia are ok soon.

god, my 6yr old came home from school yesterday with a temp over 39.5, sore throat and cough.
He had a fairly good night, but since he got up this morning he has been sick every 20mins!

Really worried about dehydration, anyone know what the main signs are??

thanks x

Hi Bubbly, well wiv Alicia they looked for dry lips and dry nappies...know you can't do that with a 6yr old but has he been going to the loo for a wee? being very sleepy is sign your dehydrated too apparently (?)

with a temp like that hun i would defo take him docs at the least and don't let them give you any crap; i don't want to worry you but if his temps still as high as it was yesterday today you might be better off taking him to your A n E Dept if you have one.
I was told i had to give Alicia 5mls of water every 5mins (a teaspoon full) and even if she threw it back up she wud have had to retain a little fluid.

((hugs)) let us know how you get on chick.

hey ems thanks for replying.

His temp seems to have dropped right down to normal today and is left with the sore throat and cough.

Like i said though he is being sick every 20 mins, but he didn't eat his lunch at school or his dinner last night, so he is just bringing up fluid. He can't keep water down though, which is why i am worried.

I so bloody mad at the school for not phoning me to pick him up early, it was quite obvious how ill he looked!

Might ring the nurse and get some advice from her too as it's the weekend, why do these things always come about when dr's are gonna be closed!?

thats ok. I would ring the school up anyway, firstly to complain about not ringing you earlier and then about checking other kids, the bugs highly contagious so it's highly likely that some incosiderate g.i.t. has put their kid in school with it.
My Sister has had to take the week of work because both her kids have got it, and i don't see her shoving them into school. Razzer
i gave Alicia the afternoon and then when she wouln't even keep an oz of water in i rang NHS Direct up. I knew something was wrong with Alicia when she refused her ready break, noticed she had a temp so HAD to go Sainsburys to get some Calpol for her, threen she threw up at the side of the canal.
and LOL about the illnesses always happening when docs are closed / finishing early.
you will get the same as what i got prob...'it's just a bug that's going round'..yes you know it's a bug but you are worried about his hydration ,and let them know your not happy.
