Hi Ladies, Alicia had really bad reflux when she was a bab an it only started to die down last year.
however, by process of elimination I have started to learn other things still set her off, mainly anything that has citric acid in it.which means she dont have her beloved fruitshoot drinks.lol
just wondered if any of your babies / toddlers suffered from it and what you found worked with them?
she has gaviscon infant which normally does the trik but not so much this time round. Confused

Hi Ems, Dylan had severe reflux when he was little, it started off with a condition at 2 weeks old called pyloric stenosis and he had to have surgery at 29 days to put it right. Following the surgery his reflux was awful and he had to have prescribed milk until he was 12 months old. The stuff he had turned to custard consistency in his gut so that he could not throw it up again. I am pleased to say that at 12 months he did get over it and i have never had any problems since. Doesnt really help you i know, but you did ask Big Grin

hi,
excuse typing, baby on boob!

it may be worth metioning to doc or hv as there may be an underlying cause to your daughters problem.
i had problems as a child, as a baby i apparantly threw up lots and my mum said if she over fed by just a bit the whole lot came back!
in my teens i was diognosed with a weak stomach valve and hyatis heria, from birth, neither cause me too much probs, i just know what i can eat.(symptoms are acid reflux with certain foods/drinks, not being able to eat huge meals and feeling/being sick if i do, its rather like being pregnant!)
it is not nice being raised on indigestion remidies though!!
also there is so much c**p i foods now, and most of it aimed at children so it wont help a sensitive little tummy!
Diet is very over looked, my sons ADHD symptoms were worse when he had apple and blackcurrent squash, just that one simple thing removed from his diet made such a difference, to him and us! like i say worth looking at and then like you are already, being aware of the things she can/cant have.

good luck

i can highly reccomend www.livingwithreflux.org
i have had two very bad refluxers, both had surgery to stop it in the end they were so bad.
there are many different medications out there that work much better than gaviscon, this only works by thickening feed and keeping it down.
if you are still having trouble i would go to the gp and ask for something else or ask for a referal to a pediatrition. they can prescribe different meds such as ranitadine or omeprozole to help. good luck

sorry i keep forgetting to reply to this Red Face thanks for all your replies though. Im basically working on a process of elimination now as it is, ie if she has had something different to eat that day and her reflux is worse, etc. so far cutting down on any foods that have citric acid in it or cancelling them out together if possible and the other week when her reflux played up it was ice cream that did it! Confused
she has got gaviscon infant, and she did go and see a hospital consultant last year about it and he just told me she would grow out of it Roll Eyes, they (the hospital) gave her a months trial course of omeprazole and another one i cant remember but my GP didn't allow it to become a repeat prescription Confused (hes an arsehole.lol) so just had to make do since then, but then i read up on them medicines and they say its not recommended for long periods of time as it can do more harm than good...especially in adults.

anyway sorry for the biography of a post and i will let you know how it goes on....

thanks again ladies.
