Hi All,

Jane,
I do use both boobs now, i feed, wind, then offer other boob, than wind again after that. At the moment she is taking one and a half boobs! (not as exact as oz is it!!) I express the rest at each feed and by the end of the day have about 6oz feed which df feeds her at bedtime, sometimes she takes it, sometimes she just demands me.

Funny story...

Went to docs the other day, left df with Sophie for an hour, first text after 20 mins, 'how do i get the lid off this bottle without smashing the f****** thing!!' next text ten mins later 'done it now, bloody nightmare, she hasnt stopped screaming and has now pooed all over the bed' followed by 'how much longer?' Oh soooooo funny, one hour that was!!!

Rusty,
no smiles for the camera, i got camcorder out and she went all serious for that too, she knows!
I am sticking with moses basket til her legs dont fit! Not only do i not want to be setting cots up but i dont want her wriggling all round the cot and off the sensor mat.

must dash, spent too long on here as it is, just got wireless connection sorted out, not sure how but will take credit for it anyway!!

hello to all, hope you are all ok, babies all ok, will put sophies weight on here tomorrow, not had her weighed for few weeks so will be interesting!

bye for now

hi all, sorry not been on in a while, probs with the site loading put me off for a bit.

anyway, have missed a bit...

Jane - poor you about dp going away, how are you coping? hope your family are keeping you company lots. Hope Aisha doesn't forget her daddy, sometimes i feel that henry does during the week Frowner
I mostly use one side for feeding too, but sometimes he is hungry almost straight away so gets the other side, so it's almost like he has had both sides, if that makes sense?
I love ebay! got lots of bargains for kids toys especially. Looking out for another toddler swing seat for the summer at the mo. (not that we need it today with all this snow!)

Pinky - gawd sometimes men are useless aren't they?! Smiler
what did sophie weigh then?
Henry was 13lbs exactly nearly 2 weeks ago, will try to get him weighed on tues again at the bf group.

Rusty - i can't catch smiles on camera either, managed one blurry one on my mobile but don't know how to get photos off that?
Have you moved Harriet into her cot? Henry seems so much better in his, even put him in it during the day if we are in and he sleeps for much longer than if hes plonked on the sofa! normally that is, atm he is fast asleep on the sofa and i only put him down to get some lunch for tom!

Mojo - love the new photos on msn, must get myself organised and get the photos off the camera onto the pc, it's full up now so that shd encourage me!
Hope the colief is working, haven't used it myself but have heard good things about it.
And for bf i think you can put it on your nipple before a feed? sounds weird tho!

jenni - how are josh's hips now? did you get a date for the scan? henry had to have his done as he was breech but he was fine. the scan was no problem at all. are you still giving him baby rice? how, in his bottle or from a spoon? it is early but you know what is right for him.

cdmh - never did see your post, what happened to it?

frenchie - how are you and reuben doing?
hope i haven't missed anyone?

otherwise, all well here, henry has slept from 7-6 once! but was up for 1 feed last night. but there is hope...still bfding which is fine.
tom is fine too, and dh is working from home for a couple of weeks which i lovely for me and the boys.

so, best try and get this posted before all crashes again, will try to be back soon, ktSmiler

Hi everyone!

Katy- Been away this weekend at my brother's in Rugby... so decided last night was the night to try Harriet in her own room as she's not been here for a few days Eeker Put her moses basket in the cot and she slept fine, actually went down earlier than usual Smiler Could've been that she was so worn out at her cousin's Christening yesterday though!! Will try her just in the cot in a few days...

Pinky- lol your DF!! Men!! My brother looked after Harriet on Friday night and I went for a few drinks with my sister-in-law. He was a bit freaked about the bottles of expressed milk but didn't ring or text and we finally rolled in at midnight Eeker I felt a bit minging at 3.30am when she woke up for a feed and I had to get out of bed to get a bottle!

Hope everyone's well, been really quiet on here lately Frowner

hi all, sorry i havent been on in awhile.

got afew things i wana ask u lot.

1sgt i have to ring up to get josh a hospital apt at either royal manchester hospital for children or booth hall hopsial for children regarding his hips so dont actually know the date yet, i thought i wud go to a more local hospital but theyre sending me all that way so its worrying me alil.

josh keeps on going cross eyed, he didnt really do this afew weeks ago but its becoming more frequent. is it coz he is looking around more and straining his eyes or will he end up being cross eyed? should i tell my doctor or health visitor?

josh's skin in certain places are really dry and scabby< is this ok? he mas a dry patch on one leg, behind his ears, on his forehead and i think under his chin and in afew creases, cud it b exma? me and DP dont have it and i dont really now any1 who does so i dont know what to do or if it cud b etc?

rusty- josh has been in his own room in his cot for at least a month now, may longer. we mainly put him in his cot bcoz he was so tall and we found that he slept better on a more secure surface than the moses basket coz they sag alil. what time do u put harriet to bed? josh last feed is between 10-11pm so he is in his cot between 11-12. and then he will sleep until 6-7 and wake to want his dummy, then will sleep til half 7ish and i will give him his bottle then sleep again til 12, with the odd waking up for dummy. i guess he is a good boy really.

pinky- i dont think i could leave DP with josh yet, he wudnt have a clue, if he crys he wud just put his dummy in, DP wud never think that josh cud need his nappy changed or a feed.

things r getting beter regarding DP, he loves to talk to josh and basically play with him and watch tv with him, i still get upset that he doesnt do nappies BUT he will feed him if i ask and will look after him if i have a bath or am cooking tea etc, guess i should b greatful.

oh josh is now 13lb 12oz and 64.5cm long(on thurs 3rd april) so yes he is a big boy. he is classed as being tall and slim, he is no way a chubby baby, not like some of the baby but i have noticed he seems to b filling out more. i think his hight is on the 99th centile and weight is 50th which is normal right? what ever i am doing i must b doing a good job as he growing so fast.

can u lot imagen life without ur little baby now? i just cant, i still miss being pregger and hold my belly, esp when ppl are holding josh and i tend to put my hands on my belly without knowing it...how freeky is that lol.

KT- hiya, not on baby rice yet as was scared i wud harm him but may try again when he is 3months. i mean he is on 7oz every 3-4hrs and has started to drain them so i guess i will have to put up to 8oz soon Eeker when he starts drinking all of them then i guess baby rice is a must, the health visitor said 4months to wean him but this baby is just growing so fast lol.

hi to every1 else, hope u are all ok

hi again trying to do a massive catch up with all my threads while dh takes tom out and henry sleeps - tho he has just woken up so can't be long.

rusty - hope the transition to cot goes smoothly. your bro sounds impressive, does he have kids? mine would be useless - in fact one babysat once and it was one of only a handful of times that tom has ever woken with babysitters and he just phoned us to come home! luckily we were anyway as i was pg so not up for a late night.

jenni - def mention the eye thing to hv. a friend of mine's little girl has this too, she had it as a child herself so not too freaked but it can need a little op to sort out. or it may sort itself in time, but best to know i would think.

glad dp is doing more tho i think the odd nappy really isn't asking too much. normally dh does all nappies at the weekendsSmiler

josh sounds like he's growing v well, tall and slim. henry is not as tall but def a diff shape to tom at the same age. tom was seriously chubbySmiler

good idea to wait then with the rice if you aren't sure. have you switched to hungry baby milk? not that i know anything about formula.

right h getting cross best go, ktSmiler

Evening Ladies,

Thought I'd better catch up, Aisha is now in bed asleep, dinner is cooking so finally got a bit of time.
Thanks for your advice re the 2 boob feeding, it seem that sometimes she wants 2 and other times she's happy to stay on one, little madam Smiler
At least i know she's getting plenty of milk as i took her to be weighed last week and she was 10lb 1oz Big Grin I was so happy but it made my sister laugh as my nephew was only slighly less than that weight when he was born and aisha is now almost 3 months old.

Missing DP but finally managed to speak to him this morning for about 2 mins, he's had problems with phone and had to get another one over there and altho i know we wont be able to speak too often due to cost we can keep in touch by text and email and occasional phone call.

Got Aisha's cot set up but not got any bedding yet so she's in moses basket in cot, sleeping about the same but getting some bedding tomorrow so i think i'll try her in it without moses basket as she's really getting a bit small now and almost fills it top to bottom. She's still in my room as i have big bedroom and plenty of room. Still can't bear the thought of her being in her own room yet Roll Eyes

Pinky - yr story about DP really made me laugh, men some of them really don't have a clue, i think it's true when they say that if men had babies the world would die out very quickly!!!

kayt - Wow henry is really doing well, 13lb and that being 2 wks ago, i'm hoping that aisha will sleep during day in cot also as she'll drop in in her chair but only for about 15 mins at a time and if i'm holding her she'll sleep for ages but as soon as i put her on sofa she'll wake up straight away.
I'm happy with her sleeping habits, she goes off to bed at 7.30 and she'll sometime stir about 1am but i'll just get up tuck her in and she'll go off again, this last few days she's not wanting to be fed until about 4 or 5am, then she'll go off for another couple of hours or so so i'm getting some reasonable sleep.
How is Tom with his baby brother, it must be nice for your DH working from home

Rusty - yr brother sounds a star but lol about expressed milk.
My nephews have been staying with my mum and dad last week but eldest one sleeping at my house, he's only 10 but was an absolute star, each morning he'd get up and ask me if he wanted me to do anything or look after aisha while i had shower etc, he even asked to feed her one morning so i gave him expressed bottle and bless him he even tried to wind her. My sister could not believe this and thought he must have undergone a personality transplant Smiler

Jenni - you sound a bit happier now and glad that DP seems to be getting more involved. Can't really offer any advice about his eyes but definitely worth mentioning to HV and see what she says. I've noticed that aisha has developed a few dry patches on her tummy and been putting sudocrem on. I think it might be cos i changed washing powder so it's back to good old fairy now and see if that clears it up. I'd mention this to HV or doc too just to pur yr mind at ease that's what they're there for. Josh is sleeping well by the sounds of it.
I know what you mean about life before baby, i really can't imagine life without her now and i definitely did miss being pregnant but i think i've got over that now Roll Eyes
Not sure about the rice but personally i'm not going to start aisha on anything until much later but then again she's only a little thing compared to Josh and every baby is different, as kayt says maybe its better to put him on hungry baby milk for a while first.

Well this has turned into a bit of an epic so i should go off and see if dinner is cooked. Got spinach and cheese bakes with potatoes and veg yum, yum

have a nice evening everyone and hello to anyone i've missed out
good night
Jane

Hi All,
It has been really quiet on here, bit of an echo and tumble weed rolls by!

Kt,
Sophie last week was 11lb 8oz i said somwhere else 10ib 8oz but i cant keep up with her!!
She seems to be leveling off now.
Henry sounds like he is sleeping well, Sophie is just not a sleepy baby, was a fidgit bum when i was pg and she still is now!
Lovely for dh to be at home, df is taking a week off soon, really looking forward to that!

Rusty,
The bottles of expressed milk took me a while to get used to, it just looks like real milk, which i know it is and i dont know what i expected it to look like but i am so proud its mine! I got 5 oz off last night from one boob in one go, it was engorged though, Sophie only took one boob and so i had to express the other rather than sleep on it! (at 2 in the morning!)

Jenni,
Babies do go cross eyed but it is worth getting checked out anyway, Sophie was doing it a lot from birth but i think she is getting better control now.
Squints are not always visable my ds had one eye not working at all but was not cross eyed, he was patched for 6 months to make the poor eye work, which it did.
Dry patches again are not unusual, try a moisturising barrier or if you cant find then a moisturiser and barrier. Zinc and castor oil is good barrier but a little thick and white!
Or ask health visitor to perscribe something mine did and i use it for everything, from Sophies bum where it is great at keeping nappy rash at bay, to her head when it looked like cradle cap was creeping in, i used it for 2 days on her head and the dry patches went totally.
My first ds went to his own room at about same age as Josh for same reasons, he out grew the pram we had for him.
Sounds like you are doing a fab job for him to be so contented and sleep so well, there is a hungry baby milk you could try if he is old enough (it will say on the packet)
You will know if he needs anything more if he does not settle or sleep but it sounds like he does at the moment!
My ds was very hungry and it disturbed his sleep so i started baby rice at 3 months with him, he went from very unsettled, hungry, grumpy and frequently feeding to content and through the night just from giving him baby rice b4 his night feed.
I cant imagine things as they were either, Sophie is a handful but is getting better as she starts to understand more, she screams less now and makes funny shouty noises instead as if to call me!!

Jane,
df's phone went wrong the other day and i could not even text him, it was terrible and made me realise how often i do contact him during the day!

Anyway Sophie looking at me now, she is so sweet, and still seems so tiny to me, she is so delicate! I asked df's Mum for some baby pics of him to see if there was any likeness when he was a baby, she bought over a pic which is uncanny, its like a little boy version of Sophie, i will try and post on msn when i have scanned it into my pics, show you all what i mean! Even their hair sticks up in the same place!

Must go now, while she is quiet so she doesnt feel she needs to scream to get my attention!

Take care all,

Pinky xx

hiya all, just a quick post as need to rush my cat to the vets, (just found a big bauld patch that wasnt there this morning, think he has ripped his fur out somehow, poor lil cat man lol)

anyway about the feeding, josh has been on hunbgry baby food for a month lol, the normal stuff made him not pooh, since he has been on hunbgry baby he poohs normally now. so the next step is baby rice i guess. i think it will be afew weeks till i do that tho as he is still on 7oz at the moment.

i will ring health visitor then and ask to see her.

right best go and catch the cat lol, wish me luck

Hi everyone,

Pobs- good to see you dropping in, hope everything's going well with you. Have been keeping an eye you Wink Make sure you post some pics of your gorgeous girl when she arrives Smiler

katy- my brother has 2 kids and they both adore their daddy! He's really fantastic with babies and I felt safer leaving her with him than I would with my DP!! The cot transition has been a success so far (touch wood Smiler), hopefully we'll get a mattress and sheets this weekend and she'll be properly in her cot. Feels a bit sad really but had a couple of nice evenings with DP which I've really missed.

Janie- your nephew sounds like my neice! She was desperate to do stuff with Harriet, especially cos she's her only female cousin. She even doesn't mind holding her when she's crying and tries to comfort her and she's only 8 Smiler

Pinky- know what you mean by it looking like real milk! Roll Eyes My half-brother accidently put his wife's milk on his cornflakes one day Eeker He says he was half asleep but I reckon he was just trying to save money, lol!

Jenni- hope your cat is ok. What did the hv say about Josh's skin? I put some aqueous cream on Harriet twice a day that seems to keep dry skin at bay.

I'm off work now til 28th Sept, hurrah!! Extended my maternity leave as I really wasn't coping with the idea of going back to work so soon. I just felt sick every day thinking about it and spent a fair few days in bed not able to fathom the energy to get up Confused Anyway work were fine about it thankfully. However they have let another nurse (unqualified) who's on mat leave too go back part time. I really don't think that's fair but I don't think I have the energy to fight it Frowner

Hope everyone's well

hi everyone,

just a quick one from me tonight to ask some advice please.

Basically I've got Aisha into her cot this week and its sort of going ok but i don't know if its the space or what but she seems to be waking more often than when she was in her moses basket.
I've always wrapped her up at night time from birth as she sleeps happily this way but since going in her cot she wriggles until her arms are free which means she wakes herself up by rubbing her eyes, sticking her fist in her mouth and then she crys. Last night i lost count of the amount of times i got up to wrap her back up but within an hr she was off again. Needless to say i did not get much sleep which is very unusual, recently she's been going from 7.30pm till at least 4am without waking so this is definitely out of the norm.

Then to top it off DP rang me at 6am this morning and wondered why i sounded so sleepy!! He'd forgotten that he is 5 hrs ahead of us Roll Eyes Bless him

I'm going to stay with my sister for a few days tomorrow so she'll be back in moses basket during that time but when i get back i want to get out of the habit of wrapping her up but how do i stop her waking herself up with her arms?

I'm guessing its just the transition to the cot but just wondered if anyone had any suggestions.

Even as i read this back its a daft thing to ask as i guess i'll just have to persevere but any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Smiler

Thanks very much
have a good weekend everyone
bye for now
Jane

hi allSmiler

jane - sounds like aisha is doing really well with feeding & weight gain, so well done youSmiler
hope you have spoken to dp more recently.
Aisha in her cot properly yet? how's it going?
H will sleep for ages in our arms too, just get dead arms holding him! and sometimes T wants to do stuff so i have to put him down. other than arms, our bed or cot or car seat work best. in fact if he falls asleep in the car, i carry him in and he'll stay asleep for hours, have to wake him up!
SO nice having dh at home more atm, means he can do stuff with T and we can put one to bed each which is much easier than trying both by myself.
T is great with H, so far...Big Grin

Pobs - hey there, great to see youSmiler not too much longer to go now. i keep on eye on the Due in... threads so will be watching out for your LOs arrival.

Pinky - H is still sleeping well, even after his 1st lot of jabs yesterday (delayed cos he's got a sniffle but has had it since 3wks old so i gave up waiting for it to go!). tonight fell asleep downstairs at 6.30 so we'll see....

jenni - did you catch the cat, lol! as i said i don't know much about formula but can you keep upping the amount? so if he has 7oz x 5 a day now can you go to 8oz x5 then 9oz x 5, etc?
i would assume that with bf, baby would just demand more and more often...

rusty - your bro is v useful then! mine are both 'pre-children'. my sis has 2 of her own but she works full-time and isn't the most maternal of people, but lives in france anyway so not v helpful re babysitting! Is harriet in her cot too?
well done on extending your ML tho not fair re the other person going p-t. can you ask again?

all well here, went to a mini-farm with both boys this morning, got rained on, fed animals, played in sandpit, had lunch and came home. not major tantrums (from any of us!) and good fun all round. then t crashed out at home for a couple of hours, then dh took him out on his new toy/bicycle. and the sun came out long nough for t to play in the garden, roll on summerSmiler

got most of tomorrow to myself tho, boo hiss. then BIL and his family coming for 3 days. they have just been in Oz for 3 weeks and have decided to emigrate. MIL will be SO upset and she's away on hols too atm. she comes back sun am, they are due to tell her then come here, ouch.
she has even said to me that she wouldn't want her g-children to grow up in Oz/be australian out of all the countries in the world. oh dear.

sorry bit long best go, dh getting curry, yumSmiler

Hi everyone,

god it's so quiet on here,

Just checking up after my few days away in sunny, windy and rainy Scarborough !! Eeker and surprised to see no-ones been on since last week.
I hope everyone and their babies are OK.

DP is managing to ring me most days which is nice but missing him like mad but only another 2 wks.

Anyway, take care all and don't be strangers, I don't want to be like billy no mates and be the only one posting on here otherwise it looks like i don't have a life Roll Eyes

Night all

Hi Jane,

Know what you mean about being quiet on here, i did reply to your post about sleeping but lost it when i went to post it and Sophie was screaming by this time so couldnt re-post!

Think i suggested a baby sleep bag for Aisha, or placing her moses basket into her cot until she got more used to it.
Sophie has just gone into her cot, it is in our room next to me so nothing has changed much for her except the space!
I have put a few soft toys in there and i got a glow worm toy from argos, i would reccomend them they are just a soft toy but the face lights up when you squeeze it, it makes things much easier trying to find a stray dummy at night, i turned the music bit off as its hardly lullaby its so loud!

Dont know how you manage without dp, i mean i have been a single mum and got on fine, but to have a partner and him not be there i would miss him too much!

Anyway ned to get up and do shopping today, want to get it done nice and early with kids as it was a nitemare last week, i wished i had done an internet shop but i am determined i can take 4 kids on a food shop without it being terrible! If i get up now my 14 yr old will stay in bed then its only 3 kids nagging for biscuits, chocolate and ice cream!!! (and Sophie too small to nag...yet!!)

Enjoy this age, b4 they can answer you back and nag!!

Must go,
Pinky xx
ps going to post poem i think is lovely...
