Hello All, Mojo, your new place sounds great, worth the journey! Sophie spat out all home made stuff to start, she still likes jars better, i sneak my stuff in with a bit of mixed powder stuff! Fussy madam! Take care xx Rusty, Sounds like you are really busy, not fun with Harriet being up all hours. I am trying Sophie on formula now because my milk is slowly getting less, its just not satisfying her, but she hates formula, she did take some the other day in liquid form so i got the powder and made it up and she refused it! She eats quite a lot during the day, and has moved to lumps with no problem at all she has some baby biscuit and rusks solids i have no problem with its getting anything other than my milk in her as a fluid, but then i dont drink much so perhaps she is like me! See what you mean about the reply thing, it is a pain! xx Well still trying with nights, and failing! Like i said trying to fill her up b4 bed but no luck, even with a tummy full of baby porridge and then my milk she is still up for her usual feed by 4!!! House full of kids this week, next week is a quiet one! Wedding plans going ok, invitations just going out now, girls dresses sorted, my veil on order, flowers sorted, cake a bit of a non starter, so expensive getting a cake, thought of getting a tesco one but even the stand is £60, plus £25 for flowers to top them, and then the cakes, 3 is about £36 then cake boxes or napkins, its just endless!! Apart from that its mainly sorted out, best man has been asked, suits measured up for and thats about it. My dress is lovely but very simple, i am not sure if i should go for something more wedding, its wedding but not a big dress, think i will stick with it, i like it!! Well time to change a smelly bum, she is wafting it up and down in her bumbo! Bye for now Pinky xx

ok, now seeing the new reply box, yuk! pinky - re wedding cake, we got ours from M&S (was 4 years ago), pre-ordered, collected the day before. can't remember exactly how much it was but not expensive. think we had 3 tiers, some fruit, some chocolate (yum!). the venue had a cake stand, worth asking yours??? we bought the cake, pillars, some sugar flowers (from jane ashers online shop) and the venue people did the rest - looked fab we had the cake cut and brought out later on in the evening and it was nearly all eaten then so we didn't need boxes for it. hth! can't wait to see a pic!! or several! mojo - glad your move went ok and hope you are all settling in well. rusty - don't know how you are managing on so little sleep and being so busy! i hope you are enjoying it even if it's hectic. jenni - saw your msn post, haven't been on in ages, hope you and josh are doing ok? we are still struggling with nights too i am getting a bit down about it tbh, realised we passed the 6 month mark and it sinks in how little sleep i've had for sooooo long. i mean the end of pg is not a fab time sleep-wise is it? and now H is over 6 mo.... actually had 7.5hrs sleep the other night!!! but only cos the monitor was broken and we didn't hear H crying at 3am (for ages according to MIL whose house we were in!!! poor love - H not mil!). didn't help his sleep since tho. he has suffered from colds/coughs/teething and now conjunctivitis so waiting for that to all calm down before being brave and going for controlled crying. sure i will wish i had done it earlier once those difficult few nights are over. otherwise, dh and i are wii fit addicts! and both trying to lose some weight. as H is onto more solids he is cutting down his milk demands which is great for me. still loads to lose (am just over 11stone, should be 10.5 max for my height, was 9.5 before H and 8.5 before T) but on the way right, best post before something goes wrong! jenny - hi haven't forgotten you just can't see your last post to reply properly!! hope aishe still sleeping well. xxx

hi all just sat an wrote a post then tried to change pages and lost the lot, GRRRRR. Don't like this new way of posting either, like you Rusty i have to keep looking back to see what people have written. Right i'll try again.. Pinky - thanks for the encouragement on weight loss, i'm finding it really tough as i cannot do as much exercise as i did before having aisha, i just can't afford to go to classes at the moment so i'm trying to get out walking every day for at least an hour, just have to stick at it. Sorry to hear you're still having sleepless nights, it must be so tough after your other kids were so different, fingers crossed she'll realise that sleep is a good thing soon. Your wedding plans are going well, you must be so excited, can't believe the price of cakes, would it be an option for you or friend to make and then buy decorations? I didn't realise how much they cost. You mention your retakes for uni, what is your degree for? Rusty - you must be exhausted running the hotel and looking after Harriet, are you doing it on yr own or is your DF doing it with you? Hope Harriet has settled back down with her sleep and you are not getting any difficult customers. Mojo - glad the move went well and hope your unpacking is going ok, the journey sounds funny, sorry to laugh but i know what my cat is like when i take her to the vets and thats only a 5 min journey, it's like she's being tortured, heaven knows what she'd be like for 3 hrs!! Katyt & Jenni - hope you are both OK and babies are being good. Not too much to report here. Aisha is sleeping pretty good now, tends to go to bed around 7ish, wakes around 5 for quick feed then off again till after 7 in the morning. However, the last couple of nights shes been waking at 12.30am and demanding a feed so think she must be having a growth spurt so today gave her extra food. I can't believe how much she has had today: breakfast - baby porridge lunch - 6oz milk then half jar of spaghetti with veg then muller fromage frais afternoon - feed from me tea - carrot and potato mash then 3/4 of a banana supper (before bed) 8oz milk and some porridge Lets hope she doesnt eat like this every day or she'll be a porker like me!!! She's good with the lumpier food and loves fingers of toast or bits of rusk. She's quite partial to the odd cornflake when i'm eating my breakfast too. Last Sunday when DP was here we decided on the spur of the moment to go to the seaside, the nearest coast to us her in the landlocked midlands is Hunstanton so off we went, its about 2 hr drive. It wasn't very warm and the tide was out a long way but we had a short paddle, then a walk and some chips. It was too cold for aisha to have a paddle but it was a nice day out. I've decided that she is not going to be a crawling baby, she just hates being on her tummy and loves sitting up, the other day i was at a friends and she was sitting with us and she started to shuffle herself back on her bum by pushing her legs and also she loves standing up. i've got a couple of pictures of her standing holding her chair and against the sofa. She doesn't roll either. She'll roll onto her side in bed but that's as far as it goes. Not much else to report here, i can't believe she is nearly 7 months old, before we know it our babies will be celebrating their first birthdays Right, better go now, need cup of tea, if this post disappears i'm not typing it again, but then again if it disappears you wont know if i did one or not, would you???? Bye for now, have a good weekend and hope its sunnier than here take care Jane xxx

Hi Again, Before it gets too difficult to backtrack i will reply!! Kt, Thanks for the ideas on wedding cakes, i was hoping someone may have some ideas! Will look into m&s cakes and online etc, I am pretty sure the venue wouldnt have a cake stand as its a club, but i will ask, i was hoping to stack the cakes and thus only need one thingy, you know what i mean!! It sounds awful but i am so glad its not just us! I have not had a decent night sleep since before Sophie was born, it is getting me down now, i dont want to go to bed because i know i will be disturbed a few hours later, just as i am dreaming! My milk is slowing up and i am sure she does not get enough, she is determined not to take formula, so i spend ages trying to get formula into her, then giving up and giving her boob, then she is awake by half 4, last night i thought we were making progress when she took 5oz formula and then both my boobs, which cant be much then she slept from 10 til 5.15 which was great for her, but then tonight she wouldnt touch it again, so waiting for her to be up! Until i am happy she is full i dont want to try controlled crying, i did the other night when i had fed her and i knew it was just because she wanted to play, she still was crying, it took ages but eventually she gave up and had 4 more hours sleep, it was horrible though, she was all huffy and upset in her sleep and i just wanted to cuddle her up! Good luck with getting more sleep, 6 months is just mad, i never imagined this!! Jane, I have managed to budget the wedding quite well, i am a meany and find it hard to justify hundreds of pounds for just one day! I will spend my last penny on the children but not on something like my wedding!! I have just got a deal with the photographer, would you believe £1200 was the price from one, £600 from another, so i went to the cheapest one asked what the package was and would they just do photos and proofs and got that at £250, still a lot i think but i want propper photos! Prob best i dont get started on the uni stuff, i took the wrong subject, i was doing science and social science and getting on just fine but to broaden the degree i took an english subject which was a huge mistake! I failed by 2% and so am retaking, i have a great tutor this year and hope to pass, i then was going to do teaching but may just get a job as df has been off 3 months now from work having slipped a disc, so i may leave him to house husband and work myself!! Sophie not too bad on her tummy but totally mobile in her walker, she follows me out to the kitchen, out the lounge and down the hall and into the kitchen, and she knows if she gets stuck to go back then try again, she does try and pull the plant in the kitchen and get hold of stuff, but i am prepared for her, my ds was walking at 10 months and he was a right pain, into everything and more! My eldest bum shuffled, he was a sitter, and then a shuffler, then at 1 walked, he never crawled. Going to have to go, need bit of sleep b4 Sophie wakes up, been a long day! Just wanted to post while i could see your posts without scrolling, now this is miles long, sorry!!! Pinky xx

Hi All, Jane I did exactly the same as you last night, wrote a long post and lost the lot!! Sooo annoying. Anyhow, sounds like Aisha has a good appetite, how much does she weigh now? Jemma was 15lbs 6oz a week ago and definitely feeling heavier Good luck on the weight loss, I have at least a stone to go and it just won't budge. Rusty had no idea you were already running the hotel, busy bee! Hope Harriet's settled in well and you get some rest inbetween cooking breakfasts and looking after your guests. Hard work by the sounds of it! Took Bandit to the vet today and they suspect diabetes He's old, overweight and a prime candidate now he;s drinking lots of water. Have to get his wee tested and check sugar levels - hope it's not serious, he's so happy in his new home and garden...like a lion roaming his territory! Pinky, how exciting your wedding is nearly all sorted. I remember being surprised at how much photographers charge, if you can, ask them for a cd so you can print your own copies off at home, that's what we did. Re: cakes, Waitrose are pretty reasonable and you can decorate your own with fresh flowers. Or how about tiers of big cheeses decorated with ivy...some friends of ours did that, very different! Amazing that Sophie is so mobile already, how cute following you about. Good luck with the studying. Katy, sorry your still not getting much sleep, must be hard especially if H has had a few ailments. Can you get your head down when he has a lunch time nap? Controlled crying is supposed to be really hard but very successful. I've considered it with Jemma but the HV said she's still too little at the moment. Bed time is always a challenge for us, she just fights sleep even though she's tired. Such a shame. Anyhow I hope you're feeling better and congrats on the weight loss! Planning Jemma's christening at the moment and getting lots of nice things for the house...we have curtains at last - hoorah! In-laws descending on us at the w/e as it's DH's birthday so busy time. Waves to all babies and sending you all lots of Zzzz for a good nights sleep! Jenny xx

Hi everyone, just a quick one. katyt - think i must have cross posted with you before, your post was not there when i started it appeared some time after, strange.. hope yr ok I've come to the conclusion that our january babies hve not been blessed with the continual sleep gene, after i posted the other day each night got worse and monday night i had about 4 hrs sleep in total, she would not sleep just wanted to feed and had 3 feeds during the night which is very unusual. Yesterday after passing the day like a zombie i decided to give her an extra bottle in the afternoon which she took with gusto and then her normal foods at teatime, thankfully she only woke once for a quick feed at 1.30 then went off til 6, another quick feed then off again til 8 so much better. Went to clinic this morning and spoke to HV who said that she is most likely having growth spurt but to try and avoid feeding her during the night as it will become a habit!!! Surely if they want a feed it means they are hungry, personally think she's talking rubbish but.. Anyway, she's certainly not going hungry, she now weighs a whopping 16lb 4oz . Mojo - glad yr settling in. Sorry to hear yr moggie is poorly, i remember earlier this year having to get a wee sample from my cat, much fun standing at the litter tray and waiting, she had crystals but thankfully all seems well now. Hope he's ok and he sounds happy at the new house. Right, this was only going to be a quick one and i have a very loud little lady laying on the floor shouting because she can't roll over from her back, she's almost there can get right onto her side but just can't get the final bit, also its nearly her bath time and she starts to get grouchy around this time. Bye all have a good evening Jane xx

Hi everyone, You are so right Janie about these January babies being devoid of the sleep gene! I just don't understand Harriet, she'll sleep through til 6am one night and the next she's up at 1am demanding food. Aaaaahhhhh!!! I was thinking maybe some porridge before bed would help??? Would have to bring all her meals forward to do that. Mojo- poor Bandit I hope it's not diabetes Glad he's happy in his new home. Reggie is happy here although he has annoyed my sister's cat but I hope they get on soon. Doesn't help that Reggie keeps stealing her food! Hope Jemma's christening goes well. Pinky- It made me laugh thinking of Sophie following you around, makes me want to get a baby walker. Harriet's just started bum shuffling across the room which is very funny to watch!! Will have to get a baby jail (play pen) soon as the hotel is too big and I can't keep doors shut. Anyone know any good ones? Kt- sorry you are suffering with the nights too, these babies are obviously night owls! At least we can all sympathise with each other Having a few days off to move in proper and sort out our house for renting. It's a relief not to have to get up at the crack of dawn to make people their breakfast Hope eveeryone's well, waves to Jenni and Missc Rusty x

Hi All, I hope i dont talk too soon but Sophie has had a few nights without a night feed, she wakes but i have put dummy in and she has gone back off, I do give her porridge b4 bed, or rice pudding, but i think the reason is my milk is drying up so she knows its not really worth the bother! Rusty, I use a travel cot as a play pen, they are moveable and do the job just right and of course you have a travel cot when you need one! I take them everywhere so baby can go in wherever you are and however un child friendly the house is, like my mums house, with cat hair on the floor, used to cringe thinking of my others crawling about im that! Must dash tea getting cold, catch up better soon, just hard to get look in on laptop at moment!! Pinky xx
|

|
Good idea about the travel cot Pinky, DF's parents' house is a bit covered in dog hair so I was worrying about what I'd do with her! Harriet's slept through the last 2 nights, hurrah!!! Probably jinxed it now but was so nice to have a full night's sleep. I had a few drinks on Friday night so DF got up and gave her a bottle of formula so maybe it helped that she didn't get boobie for once Better go and grab my little bum shuffler! Rusty x

Ahhh Rusty thats so cute, My eldest was a bum shuffler and it was so funny to watch! It makes sense to me tho as a baby its much easier than crawling! I have 2 travel cots, may even put one in kitchen and one in lounge! picked one up from tesco for £20 which i just could not leave! I have not used it yet but she is nearly mobile enough to put her in it, my youngest son was walking at 10 months, and very mobile b4 that, i used a travel cot for him just to keep him out of trouble! I did speak too soon, we had 2 nights of good baby then 2 of naughty baby, up every 2 hours, so last night we banned sleep from after lunch onwards, she was real tired by bed time and she slept from 9 til 5 which was really good for Sophie so will be trying to encourage that routine from now on, she didnt want feeding at 5 just a cuddle. Had a nice meal at my mums yesterday, roast lamb and healthy trimmings, allowing for our diets! Followed by fruit salad, and i had a glass and a half of wine which i really enjoyed, i hardly drink but that was nice! Lost another pound today, 3lb of target, then a few more to be happy, I can get in the dress i am in on msn with my df, that was the main target, i have so many clothes to get back into still got some tight jeans i am a few pounds off yet! Take care all Pinky xx

Morning all, Well, Aisha has finally learnt how to roll over from back to tummy but unfortunately gets stuck and can't go back the other way so ends up looking like a fish out of water flapping on the floor which is quite funny but then she gets cross and starts shouting. Sleep has been very hit and miss this last week as she's had a cold and been very bunged up and coughing, last night woke at 3am and refused to go back to sleep, managed to get her to sleep at 4.45 but awake again at 5.30!!! Gave up and put her in bed with me so i could get some sleep. Pinky - how r things with you now, i wish i could keep aisha awake after lunch but she has to have at least 2 small naps, about 20 mins or she ends up being a screaming, whingy thing. I'm trying not to feed her during night if she wakes up as i really don't think she's hungry as she eats so much during the day but its a hard battle. Well done on the weight loss you must have better willpower than me, i've some tight jeans but unfortunately they are tight for the wrong reason Rusty - well done on Harriets sleeping, it must make things easier for you working if you get a good nights sleep, long may it continue. It's lovely that harriet is a bum shuffler, i think aisha might be one too, she sits on the floor and goes through the motions but doesn't actually move, i guess it'll come with practice. greetings to katyt, mojo and jenni (who i think had her op yesterday) take care and have a good day Jane xx

Janie- I just read about your job on facebook, that's horrible!! Hope you are ok, it seems really underhand while you are on maternity leave. Jenni- hope you op went well Just a quick one today, Harriet screamed all through dinner for no reason, did the same last night I don't know what's wrong with her.

Hi Rusty yes, it was great receiving that in the post. I was actually made redundant at the beginning of my maternity leave but i kicked up a stink and they agreed to pay be all mat pay for the 39 wks and holiday pay etc. However it turns out that they have shut the company down and according to my P45 my employment ceased on 1st August!!! news to me, they did not even bother writing me a letter or phone me, but i shouldn't expect any different, they were a bunch of crooks when i worked there so glad to be away from them. I got email this morning saying i would get form through in due course to claim for holiday pay owed once the legalities had been sorted. Needless to say i was on the phone to benefits people this morning finding out what i was entitled to. I felt weird as i have never claimed any benefit in my life, I've always worked but now my thinking is i've paid enough in taxes so i should get something back until i decide to go back to work. Anyway, was p****d off this morning but at least i'm away from them. Money will be very tight but i'll manage. Hope Harriet is ok, Aisha tends to start shouting and screaming if i don't give her the spoon so tonight i gave her 1 spoon and i then fed her with another which seems to placate her, despite food being flicked around Well this was only going to be short and now need to go and eat. Bye for now take care Jane
