My name is Sophie,

I have a bit of hair, its blonde, I have big blue eyes, my best noises are high pitch squeaks but Mummy is not keen, i can say ma ma, ba ba and ga ga, and a few other funny noises, I like a few select savory tins, jars and powdered foods, I like anything sweet.
I can roll about, turn onto my front, and back again, I am very strong on my legs and favor jumping to anything else.
I have no teeth yet, but I do chew a lot and i couldnt be without my dummy, or Mummys milk, i refuse anything else just to worry her into keep giving it to me.
I love my Daddy very much and always have a smile for him, I know I am his little girl and if I keep this smiling thing up he will do anything or get anything I want!
I have lots of brothers and a sister who all play with me all the time.
I sleep quite badly, and I never sleep through the night, my health visitor says I think i may miss something as i am very alert.

This is me at 6 months old, I wonder how I will be in 6 months time!

Happy Half Birthday to all my fellow babies from the January thread!

Lots of love

Sophie

Hi everyone

Sorry not been on a while, DP was able to work from home all last week so we spent a lot of time together. Not sure he got much work done as Aisha was bit of a distraction for him but it was lovely having him here.
I got food cooked for me, he did bathtimes so i got a bit of a rest in the evenings Smiler

We celebrated Aisha's half birthday, i got us a couple of cream cakes.
I can't believe all our babies are now 6 months old, where has the time gone Eeker

Rusty- the sleeping is still a bit on and off and occasionally we have a really bad night but generally she's only waking once and depending on the time i'll either feed her or just put dummy back in and she'll go off again.

Hope Harriet has some "movements" now, poor thing it must be so uncomfortable.
How has she got on with the follow on milk?

Pinky - that was lovely what Sophie "wrote" Big Grin

katyt - wow to Henry having 2 teeth, still no teeth here but i avidly check every day in the hope they might pop through, don't think it'll be long tho.

Mojo - hope the house move went to plan and you are settling in well.

Not much else to report here, I bought her a highchair this week as she's too big for bouncy chair now and insists on sitting bolt upright and leans forward so i'm frightened she'd topple it over. I got wooden one which when she's older turns into seperate table and chair. Got good bargain as i had lots of nectar points so spent them all on the highchair and only had to pay £5 cash.
Next purchase is baby walker as she is constantly wanting to be on her feet but that'll have to wait for a couple of weeks til i've got some more money.
These babies are an expensive lark !!!

Hi Jenni - hope Josh is OK,

take care all
Jane

Hi all
me again

Took aisha to be weighed today and she now weighs 15lb 4oz which is a gain of 14 oz in 3 wks so i'm very happy, she's following the line between 9th and 25th just nicely Big Grin

Also just want to know what yr views are on baby walkers. I'm thinking of getting one in a couple of weeks or so as Aisha does not like being in one place for long and likes being on her feets. Today she was standing on the floor (me holding her) and she reached out to the seat and stood for a few seconds on her own.
I know she's far too young to do this but i'm thinking that a walker will help with her frustration.
However, i spoke to my hv today and she made it quite clear to me that she did not approve as she saw too many kids coming to a&e when she was a nurse and she said they hindered there eventual walking as it can make the child lazy!

Pinky and katyt - did either of you have one for your other little ones?

I'm in a quandry now to know what to do and just want some other peoples thoughts.

Thanks very much
Jane

Jane,

They are only a danger if you use them as a child minding service as accidents can happen so fast.
As for me I think they are great, Sophie has one and it helps her lots, she can nearly stretch out of her bumbo (with a mexican body wave!!) She is not happy in the high chair, she loves her door bouncer but gets bored so it was another option!
My eldest had one and walked at the usual year old, my other son had one and was walking at 10 months so it didn't seem to make mine lazy or intefere with their development.
I got Sophie's on kiddicare.com and i cant see the exact one on there today but there are others on there or other options like a play centre which is the same idea but not a walkaround, the seat spins around and baby plays with various activities. This may occupy Aisha without her getting into trouble walking everywhere!

Have a look, see what you think!

Take care

hi jane, with pinky on this one. we have both a walker and a 'magic roundabout'. henry loves both.
the main danger with walkers is if you have steps, they will learnt to zoom around and topple over. but if you have half a brain you won't use it where there are steps...Smiler

i guess they could pull stuff down on top of them too, so have a look from her height to see what interesting looking things they are hanging about.

and they get tired v quickly to start with so watch out for getting fed up all of a sudden and don't leave her in it too long, esp at first.

tom used ours and walked at 1 (on his birthday), h doesn't really move it around as such yet but loves being in it and at eye-height with tom.
so yes get one!

otherwise, spoke too soon on the sleeping through. we had 3 nights, hooray, then he was up at 4.30, boo. and up in the night last night once for a feed.
trying to stay hopeful....

Pinky & Katyt - thanks for your advice, like you say as long as long as common sense prevails then there should be no reason for accidents. Think my HV just was so against them she put doubts in my mind.

Anyway, what you've said has confirmed my original thoughts and i'm gonna get one.

Pinky - kiddicare store in Peterborough is only about an hour or so away from where i live and i had a look on their website and they seem to have a good choice of different things so think i'll have a drive over and let her try different ones before i buy.

katyt - sorry about the sleeping, i know after just one night of sleeping through i thought we'd cracked it but no, she was just teasing me, not slept through since Eeker
i'm thinking that the waking for a feed is now more of a habit but i still give her a feed if she won't settle back down quickly.

Like you i am hopeful that one day she'll do it...

thanks again both
Jane

Hi All, Smiler

Don't talk to us about sleeping! Frowner
She is very hard to settle, and has started to scream when you put her down, not even to sleep, just put her down on change mat or in bumbo, she is insulted she is not being cuddled!

At night i settle her with a routine of bath, all the special johnsons sleep time stuff, a bowl of baby porridge, cuddles and mummys milk and then when she is asleep the boob comes out and dummy goes in, i get from that til recently about 1.30 then til about 6 and thats the absolute best we get, i give her boob when she wakes, and she doesnt really need it she just wants a cuddle, sometimes the dummy is all she needs, and the mam 4 months+ ones stay in best.

Well thats our bedtime, and it is the best we do for now, I am not sure how i have done it b4, my babies have gone through first was 3 months, second was 6 weeks and my last was through the night from birth, now Sophie is a bit of a shock to the system, I think she is making up for the others!

Well sorry no personals, just going to bed now while Sophie is asleep, she went to bed late tonight so i may get a few hours sleep b4 she gets up!

Big hello to you all, Big Grin

Lucky jane kiddicare is so close, i have to keep spending a load and save til i want lots of things to get free postage!!! Have highchare, pram/3 in 1, walker, change mat, cuski, to name a few we got from them, its all good stuff and there service is brilliant.

Must go now!

Take care all

Pinky xx

Hi everyone,

I really feel for you guys still struggling to get your babies sleeping through. Mine isn't much better, some nights she wakes every couple of hours and will only settle on the boob although I try my hardest not to let her fall asleep on me. Since we moved into the hotel (well kinda lodging at the minute, still need to get our stuff over) she's been sleeping much better. Think it's cos it's in the basement and it's much darker down there. Has gone through til 6.30 twice and once she went to 7.40 Eeker Hope it continues Smiler

Janie- let me know how you get on with the walker, I'd like one but not sure I have much room for it now we have to squeeze a 2 bed terrace into a basement apartment Red Face

Aisha's doing great on her weight, can't believe she's overtaken Harriet now! Harriet's 14lb 8oz but she has been wolfing all her food lately which is a massive improvement to what she was doing last week.

Pinky/Kt- How much do Sophie and Henry breastfeed during the day now? I am just wondering when Harriet will start dropping some feeds as she still demands it every 2 hours during the day. I'm still really enjoying it but it would be nice to occasionally wear a top when we are out and not have to think about boobie access!

Kt- yay to H's teeth, how are you coping with feeding? Does he bite? I'm not looking forward to Harriet getting some as she bites now Eeker

Waves to everyone else, hope you and babies are all well x

Rusty

Teeth!! i missed that one!! Smiler
Sophie still all gums thank goodness! she clamps down when bored and then while still clamped on pulls away and wrenches the nipple out.......OWCH! Eeker and boy do i scream, so teeth, i dont think so!! my others were 10 months b4 teeth so hope Sophie will be the same!

Rusty as for feeding i still do demand and Sophie is reluctant to take water or baby juice from any cup, beaker or bottle. one of my others drank from a straw at 4 months!!!
So its morning boob, once during the morning, lunch, snack, evening settle and one to two night/early morning feeds, it may be more it may be less, but thats about usual,my milk is just on demand now i dont fill up just produce it on demand i cant feel it come in but i squeezed the boob she wasnt on during a feed and milk went everywhere so i know its there Big Grin plus the milk dribbling down a contentented Sophie's chin!
I think lots less comes now so it is just a drink.

Finally my 5 yr old has had a cold and a nasty one, and sophie has sneezed a few times and had slightly runny nose, i am hoping its my breast milk fending the cold off!!

must go my teenage son fighting me off the laptop!!!

take care

Evening everyone

Just wanted to share my news that Aisha has slept through for the last 4 nights Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin

First 3 nights from 7.30 til around 5am, then feed nappy change and off again til about 6.30ish
Last night was about 7.30 til around 7ish this morning.
Can't believe it and not sure if it will last but its such a relief to get some sleep at last.

On a separate note i have suddenly realised that i now weigh more than when i was 9 months pregnant, absolutely disgusted with myself and realised that i desperately need to do something about it.
I do try and eat reasonably healthy and don't have biscuits or chocolate anymore but i just look like a heifer Frowner Think some of it might be the cerazette pill i'm on so gonna ask the doc at the review next month what i can do (apart from be celibate!!!!) In the meantime i'm gonna put a weight loss ticker on here to give me extra incentive and to shame me each time i come on here.

That's all for now off to get my tea now, which is pasta and veg.

Bye all
Jane

Hello All,

Well I should share with you all Sophie was up last night from 2-4 wide awake and wanting to play! She settles ok then sleeps for about 4 hours but then always wants up, and dummy just wont do its boob, but last night it was wide awake and play time, little monkey!
So i am all blurry eyed today, and she is all bright eyed!

Jane,
I have been dieting, or 'healthy eating' since feb now, I am nearly pre preg weight, I have lost 1st 10lb and still about 7lb to go, its, I have been trying to get into my size 8 wedding dress, that was the target, and I could do it up on mon at last! It will just fit a bit nicer by Nov I hope!
I am sure breast feeding helps.
If it makes you feel any better I put on 4 stone with my first, none of which shifted til I finished breast feeding at 10 months, I then did weight watchers and aerobics and it came off!

Time to go, computer in demand again,

Take care, hope everyone ok, just the few of us hanging on here now, shame Frowner

My mind full of retake due in oct for my final bit of my degree, and my wedding in nov, i need to come on here to talk about other things!!

Big hugs,

Pinky xx

Hello,

Well the move went well, bit hectic but we survived the 3 hour journey down here,Jemma cooing in the back and Bandit the cat meowing in the front...much fun! Anyhow, the house is just lovely and we can walk to the beach in 10 mins so Jemma has felt sand between her toes and just loved it. We've started on fruit & veg too but haven't found much she likes yet...mummy's home-made or jars get spat out mostly - will persevere!

Still knee-deep in boxes and covered in bruises from lugging stuff about but it's all taking shape slowly and we're all very happy Big Grin Big Grin

I promise to catch up on all personals soon, it's amazing to think our little ones are 6 months already (Jemma has 2 weeks to go) hasn't time flown. Anyhow, I hope you're all doing well and all babies are being little angels.

Have a great w/e, and I'll be back soon,

Jenny xxx

Hi everyone!

It's taken a while but I've eventually managed to log in again! Don't know what was happening but couldn't log in on my sister's computer.

We've still to get all our stuff over but we are settling in slowly. Harriet was very unsettled last week but seems to have calmed down now. Running the bar until midnight then being up with her at 2am, 4am and 6am did not lead to a happy me cooking breakfast at 8am!! I have found if I give her a few fingers of toast she doesn't whinge so much when I cook now which is a relief.

Mojo- glad you move went well. That sounded like a fun car journey! Harriet's only really started liking her food recently so I'm sure Jemma will soon. Didn't realise babies could be fussy!

Pinky- naughty Sophie keeping you up! How's the wedding plans going? Not sure if I mentioned it but I found my perfect dress and my mum is going to try to make one like it. She's looking for a pattern at the moment. It's not what I thought I'd go for but it suits me.

Janie- I've been having trouble with my weight too, managed to put on a lot recently but I think that it's because Harriet's dropped a few feeds but I've still been eating like a horse Roll Eyes Working in the hotel is definitely helping though, running up and down all the stairs Smiler

Yay to Aisha sleeping through!!!!!!!!

Well I'd better go do some jobs while Hattie's napping. I don't like this new reply box cos it's a pain checking what other people have posted Frowner
