Hello, Rusty, thanks for swimming tips, yes I've seen the costune ones in Boots so may give it a go. Jemma has her last set of jabs on Thurs then we'll be ready for swimming next week. Harriet sounds as though she's learning lots of new things, sitting up on her own is brilliant and lol at sucking her own foot! Jemma is trying to sit up more and more but still topples over most times. Still no rolling over yet but we practice rolling when she gets dressed. Glad hotel went well, nice that you got to eat all the brekky - well deserved after all your hard work. I've always fancied working in a hotel but probably don't have the patience to deal with difficult customers! Jane, sounds as though Aisha's loving all her new foods which is great. Re sleeping through the night, Jemma has done it several times but I've been waking her up at 10.30pm for feeds as I don't think she gets enough milk a day if she only has 4 feeds. She takes 7 fl oz max in 1 feed (sometimes less) but I'm thinking she'd wake up if she was still hungry? Going to check with the HV tomorrow, I know I shouldn't compare but some of my mummies groups babies are on 35 oz a day! Pinky, well done for coping with so much going on and dp at home. Is he off work on leave? Sounds hectic. As you say, 3 weeks time and you'll be back to your organised self and everything will be in order . Glad Sophie is weaning well, I guess it's easier if she likes the jars of food as you don't have to do the whole puree & freezing batches thing?! Bless her, she sounds like a feisty little thing, just like our Jemma. She's getting stronger by the minute and very cheeky, doesn't scream often unless she's overtired and boy do we know about it...pearcing! Katy, well done on your walk, how's the weight loss going? I've lost 4lbs this week so a bit more motivated to carry on, bit boring though. Out for dinner with some girlfriends this Wed and not sure I can be good....can resist anything but temptation! Hope you're getting a bit more sleep, must be tricky with 2 just as one settles the other one's up. Hopefully they'll harmonise soon and sleep peacefully in sync. Jenni, glad you and Josh are ok, what a big boy! Hope other problems sorted out too. DH away on business til Wed so we're home alone and missing him lots Too quiet without him and bed too big! Good news, exchanging on house this week so should move July 17th, yippee...can't wait! Looking at kitchens, washing machines, dishwashers etc. all very domestic I know but so excited! Speak soon, have a good week all Jenny xx

Hi everyone, Just recovering from a trip to Cornwall, it was my brother's wedding and it was lovely. Me and DF are seriously considering moving there, I grew up in Cornwall and the trip has made me realise how much I miss it. It would take a bit of planning to move from Blackpool but we are going to see if we can manage it. Started weaning Harriet yesterday as when I got her weighed last week she'd only put on 4oz in 3 weeks. I felt really bad about that as I feel like I've been starving her. She tried some porridge this morning which she got everywhere She's definitely ready now. Katy- I've put on a load of weight this weekend! You were right when you said breast feeding delays the weight loss as I'm so hungry all the time and only chocolate will do Oh and you were right about the baby rice too! Mojo- congrats on the move date, bet you are dead excited! I'm not sure how many times babies should feed during the day but Harriet feeds 8 times which I'm sure is too much! Starting to think I'm not producing enough milk to satisfy her now, hoping the weaning will help. Pinky- Lol to Sophie only liking the jars, at least it saves you the hassle of all the blitzing. See you in 3 weeks Jenny- OMG to the coil saga! Hope you get it sorted soon. Jane- Seems like you are having the same problem as me when you get AF. I'm hoping that weaning will help and she can top up with solids on the days I'm not producing much milk. My sister has offered me a job at the hotel so I don't have to go back to work but I'm not sure whether to take it. It's a totally different job and I feel like I'll have wasted my time at uni Going to have a good think about it though as it means lots of time with Harriet Better go and get some of the mountain of washing done. Rusty x

Hi, Just quickly i wouldnt mind but i have lovingly steamed and blitzed carrot, broccoli, and apple and pear, she is ok with fruit but the rest she really hates. I tried tonight with cauliflower, broccoli, potato and baby rice, all blitzed and she gagged on it, I mean how does she know??? So after a few spoons and her gagging i opened a tin of carrot, lamb abd rosemary by heinz which she woofed down followed by fromage frais. Will just give her what she wants, sod the earth mother bit!! She still takes at least 4 feeds of me a day, my milk sprayed her in the eye at lunch today so i know she is getting plenty! Anyway, must dash, hoping for an early night! Going to try quick snack for sophie b4 bed, she was up 2, 4 and onwards last night, not sure if she is hungry or its a habbit.
Take care all,
Pinky xx

Hi everyone, Jenni - OMG hope you get the problem sorted out quickly, they should put you to the front of the queue, however did they not notice when they put the coil in? Wow Josh is growing well and what a great weight he is, hope his cold is better and his sleep is settled again. Lucky you having him sleep like that. pinky - LOL about the earth mother bit, i must admit my intentions are to cook everything from fresh and lovingly freeze it but best laid plans and all that, jars are much easier and like Sophie Aisha seems to prefer them to the home cooked stuff. Then again I'm hardly Nigella so I don't blame her really. Did homemade carrot and swede mash yesterday which she loved but today she much preferred creamy spinach from a jar. Oh and she loves the Muller Little Star fromage frais, think she would only eat those if i let her!! Mojo - did you take Jemma swimming yet? Re the milk thing I spoke to HV yesterday as i was worried that Aisha is really going off her milk, she is very fussy when feeding from me and i know there's plenty of milk there, and she just will not take more than 3or 4 oz from a bottle. I worked out that she was only having approx 15-20oz in a day. The HV was great and said not to worry and that as long as she was eating her food and taking some milk she would not suffer. She said just to let her take what she wanted and some days she does take more than others so I'm just gonna go with the flow now and also I'm trying to mix some in with her food just to get a bit of hidden milk in. She definitely not going hungry tho, weighed yesterday and she is now 14lb!!!! Rusty - lucky you thinking of moving to Cornwall, I spent pretty much every summer holiday when i was a kid down in Devon or Cornwall and it really is a great place. How is Harriet getting on with her food. I saw yr pics on facebook, she really is gorgeous and love that green dress she was wearing. Not too much to report here apart from sleeping is once again becoming an alien concept to my little madam, each night is different yet the routine up to bedtime is exactly the same so i just don't know whats going on. Trying not to let it get to me but some days i'm so tired i think i just run on auto pilot. I just live for the day when she decides that going to bed is a good thing and sleeping for more than 3 hrs at a time is a better option Saying that better go, yelling coming from upstairs, take care, going up to my sisters at the weekend so back next week bye for now Jane xxx

Janie- I'm with you on the sleeping, don't think I can cope much longer!! She's been up at 1am, 3am, 5am and 7am all this week and has been difficult to settle after the feed. I was supposed to go out tonight but I'm going to cancel as I can't face missing my 10pm-1am sleep! Please let this end soon!!! DF is away for a week too Aisha's overtaken Harriet's weight now She's now 13lb 12oz so has really slowed down, everyone's telling me not to worry but I can't help but think it's my fault. Gotta go, loads to do but I just feel like going to bed

Hi All, Well saying my goodbyes for now, off for a week in Cornwall, we go there most years and its great with the kids, plenty to do! As for food and milk, Sophie seems to be still taking my milk as she wont take fluid any other way (well a sip then spits it out!) but since more solids she seems to be sick after the milk, she has always been a sicky baby but my milk just comes back at the moment, will ask hv next visit but that wont be for a week cos of holiday. Not had her weighed in a while but she is happy so not too bothered about her weight, she is quite a diddy little thing anyway. Well off to pack now, Sophie got another smelly nappie, something else we get plenty of now! Packing plenty of disposable bibs, baby jars and tins, juice in the vain attempt to get her to take fluids! Steriliser, buggy, Sophie has enough clothes for her own suitcase! Nappies of course, sun cream in hope of some sun! Basically with 5 kids including baby, 2 adults and enough luggage to sink a ship, we are taking 2 cars, splitting kids between us to get luggage in, even a roof box i think would not be enough! Must go, Sophies patience running out and eldest son asking how much longer he has to hold his smelly sister for!! Take care all, babies and mummies alike! Catch up in week or so, dp back to work in few weeks! Oh and wedding update, went to christening and thought how lovely a church wedding would be, forgot how lovely it was being in a church, spent alot of childhood in churches and it felt real homely in a funny way!! Anyway spoken to vicar re me being married b4 and he said should be ok, so fingers crossed for a church wedding now. Must go, Sophie REALLY cross now!! Pinky xx

pinky - have a fab time, well you'll not see this before you go, but hope you all enjoy yourselves and Sophie eats & sleeps well on holiday. and hope the travelling in separate cars works out ok. just a thought, don't the jar/tinned foods have milk added to them? i mean are they just pureed carrot for example? they must have something else in to taste so different to her. maybe you could try mixing in some expressed milk with your homecooked stuff and see if it makes a difference? Rusty - hope you get some more sleep soon. i know what you mean about not wanting to miss out on the longest bit of sleep, i used to be like that but...henry has slept 7-6 the last few nights sure it won't last tho, he has slept through for about 5 nights in a row then gone back to all over the shop! on the weight thing - you know best whether there is anything not right. is harriet happy, pooing & weeing lots, doing all the things like smiling & babbling, etc? if she is fine in herself and still actually gaining weight (just slower than before) then really DON'T WORRY, ok!! oh and just go to bed, jobs will wait! and i'm still on a chocolate thing here - go through it like water! i have never managed to count properly but think henry feeds about 8 times a day too - i figure that it equals to 4 bottle feeds, with each side equally half a bottle if that makes sense? progress on job decision? jenni - progress on coil issues? janie - hope you are getting a bit more sleep? it really is torture isn't it this sleep deprivation thing? and when it's so irregular and goes on for so long. hope you have a good time at your sisters. well we have had a nasty bug going round here, henry was sick tues & wed and has been grumpy with it. i felt so ill yesterday i phoned dh and got him to come home from work asap - i wasn't actually sick but had the runs (sorry tmi!) and a terrible nights sleep. been grumpy-mummy today, poor tom , but hopefully better now and the weekend is here! right, dinner ready best go, hi all

Just a quick one to say that Harriet slept through last night!! She went form 7pm to 6.30am, then back to sleep til 9.50am I know it was a total one off but my body is soooo grateful for the sleep! Oh and my boobies were like rocks this morning! Ouch! Pinky- yay to church wedding. I fell in love with the church me and DF are getting married in the minute I saw it. Weirdly it was at my ex-boyfriend's dad's funeral but hey-ho! That's how I met my DF, he was my ex's best friend, I know it's weird but a long story! Hope you are having fun in Cornwall, whereabouts did you go? We stayed in Falmouth and the my brother's wedding was it St Newlyn East which is a proper Cornish village with plenty of inbreds! Katy- I am trying to relax about the weight thing It's not like Harriet's doing badly as she's sitting up really well now and I can count about 8 creases on each of her legs from the rolls of fat! Going to discuss job decision when DF gets back from Cyprus tomorrow. It's looking like I'll be running the hotel though, goodbye veterinary nursing Rusty x OMG that was going to be a quick one

Rusty - there must be something in the air yesterday as Aisha also slept through. Oh my god I was so shocked. I'd bought her a sleeping bag as she kept getting tangled in her sheet and blanket and it was first time last night. Not sure if coincidence or not. She went to bed at 7.30 woke briefly at 11.30 but went back off quickly and woke at 6.30. Like you I know it wont happen every night but to get a nearly full nights sleep was bliss, again like you boobs felt like rocks but at least she took a good feed from me which is more than she's been doing for a while. Hi to everyone else, I'll do longer post soon but Aisha just gone off to bed and I need food. Fingers crossed for us all for sleepy babies now take care Jane xx

Congrats Jane and Rusty on your babies sleeping through - that's fantastic! Hope you both managed to catch up on much needed sleep for yourselves Jane, I think the sleeping bags help alot, Jemma's little legs are always firing like pistons when she's in her cot so her bag really helps her to Zzzzzz. Well done on Aisha'a weight too, 14lbs is fantastic! Going to take Jemma swimming this w/e, was very upset at her jabs last week as her litle legs bled and she was really distraught. Don't know why it was particularly traumatic but really glad it's done now. Maybe the nurse was a bit heavy-handed - not nice. Rusty, will you miss working at the vets? I've always wanted to work in one although not qualified in any way - apart from loving all animals. The hotel sounds great though, hard work I bet, but nice meeting all sorts of people and lovely if you get more time with Harriet. Have you decided yet? LOL at counting Harriet's creases on her legs, Jemma's are all chubby and just gorgeous, I can't stop smothering them in kisses!! Katy, hope you've all recovered from nasty bug and you're getting some more sleep. I'm with you on the chocolate front - can't get enough of the stuff - I'm addicted. Busy here sorting out stuff before we move. Have met some lovely mummies and babies here so will miss them alot but no doubt we'll meet new playmates in Hants. Taking Jemma to Musical Bumps tomorrow, really sweet class with plinky plonky music, rattles and lots of singing....what fun! Night all Jenny xx

Hi All, We are back now from hols, we had a grest time and considering we have 5 kids it was very relaxing!! Put a few pics on msn of sophie enjoying her holiday, more to download from my phone, used it more than the camera but its good and does just as good pics, just have to download them one at a time, i just always seem to have my phone on me and the camera is at the bottom of the bag!! Kt, I have tried everything with Sophie and food, it seems to be taste, and texture, the baby food jars are watery texture not smooth and almost creamy like my home stuff is, i am going to keep with the jars for now and think once we are weaning to chunks i can get her to eat our food as it will have more flavour by then. Rusty, Lucky you with the sleep, we are gradually getting there, she still wakes for me in the night once or twice, she has quick boob then back to sleep, Its still my time with her so i really dont mind! We stayed in Hayle in Cornwall, we go there year in year out and we love it, the kids have lots to do and as they get older have more to do, they swim and play all week, and we can relax! Sophie loved the pool, and the weather was fine, it just held out for us, and we were plastering sun cream on, Wed it was really bright and DP burnt, i put the cream on too late! Anyway I must dash, I am cooking roast dinner and tend to get bid sidetracked with the laptop!! Will pop on soon, for propper catch up etc, want to know what all our babies are up to, Sophie started trying to lean up more, so i sit her in the bumbo, she seems to be grabbing at everything now and i have to watch where she is so she grabs only baby things! She is very chewy but then always has been really, i am giving her the odd blob of teething stuff on her gums which she seems to really like! She can turn on her side and does that lots, she doesnt want to go on her tummy and looks a bit worried if i put her there, she seems to be a sitting up baby, and is very keen to stand up all the time, she jumps, we call it bouncy bouncy and she loves it. She went in her jumper door thingy when we got back and went crazy in it!! Really must go b4 i burn chicken!! Pinky xx

Pinky- glad you had fun in Cornwall. Have just checked your pics out Hattie's doing the same as Sophie reaching out and grabbing everything in range. She's sitting up really well now, hardly ever topples unless she's stretching to reach a toy and nose dives!! She doesn't roll often because she doesn't like her tummy either. She seems to be pretty happy now she can sit and not too fussed about doing anything else, phew! Mojo- yes I will really miss working at a vet's but I can always go back to it at a later date and will always keep an eye out for a job. Hopefully will have a proper discussion with my sister soon and make a definite decision, have been kinda putting it off. I went for another job working at a veterinary nursing college sorting out placements and was kinda hoping to get it. Am totally gutted that I didn't as it would've been ideal Janie- how's Aisha sleeping now? Hattie's been pretty consistent recently and sleeping until about 4am-6am, having a feed and going back down til 8am Harriet put on a little more weight in the last couple of weeks, she's now 14lb. She's still dropping off her line but I am going to try and take kt's advice and relax about it. She's having 2 meals a day now so hopefully that'll help. Tried butternut squash yesterday and she loved it, she ate loads!! Does anyone know when it's ok to start finger foods? Is it 6 months? Waves to everyone Rusty x

Morning all, Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine. Mojo - hope the packing is going well for the move, you must be excited, hope no further issues from the vendor Musical bumps sounds good fun, I really must make the effort to find out what other things I can take Aisha to now she is a bit bigger, we go swimming and thats about it for now. Pinky - glad you had a great holiday and loved the pictures of Sophie, she looks like she really liked the sand. Glad you managed to relax even with 5 kids. Rusty - hope you can manage to make the right decision regarding yr job, it must be hard when you really love what you do to make the decision to leave it but like you say you can always go back at a later date. Is sounds like Harriet and Aisha are pretty much the same weights now, i'm gonna take her to clinic on Wednesday just to check she's not piling it on too quick, its really difficult to know if i'm feeding her too much sometimes as she really loves her food. She had custard yesterday as my HV said this would be ok so i got her a small tub and my god if I had let her should would have ate the whole tub, i bought some milk and pudding rice so i can make her a rice pudding too as this is in our weaning recipe book that we got from HV office. Re finger foods, i think it is 6-7 months. Rusty - the sleeping has been generally very good in the last week since we had the first thru night. Last night was not good but i knew it would be bad cos she did not sleep much during the day and fell asleep before her normal time. She generally goes from 7.30 til 4ish and sometimes if i just put dummy back in she'll go off til 6ish but sometimes she wants a feed early. So we are slowly getting there but still taking each night as it comes but def much better than it was Sounds like Harriet is enjoying her sleep too and i bet you feel much better, i know after just one semi decent sleep i'm much better. Well better go, aisha just woke up and now sitting in my knee trying to help me with the typing!! ZXDC TY RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRXDAC (thats aisha's inpiut) Have a good day all, i'm gonna spend the afternoon watching the tennis.
