Hi lynn

My little girl (abby) was also premature, she was born at 30 weeks and was 2lb 1oz, so i know how much of a worry it is, she is now coming up for 2 and altho she is still alot smaller than kids her age (she is still only 17lb) she is just the same as them with walking and talking and such like.

I have just had a little boy (sam) on the 27th of jan, i went from one extreme to the other with him as he was 8lb 2oz, just like you iam really tired, lack of sleep really starts to get to you.

If there is anything you would like to ask about my daughter just ask away. look forward to talking to you

Hi Rachel.

It is really nice to hear from you. It's nice to hear you managed to go full term with Sam. I am a bit worried when I have another baby I have another pre-term baby. I went into Premature labour at 28 week with Ben but they managed to stop it for 4 weeks, thank goodness. At what age did you start weaning Abby? I have been told I need to wait til Ben is 8 months. xx

Hi lynn

Had some problems with abby putting on weight, there was only so much milk that we could try forcing into her, so we thought that some food would help her, so i think it was about 3 months we started giving her a little baby rice but it didnt make a diffrence. 8 months seems so old, but all the advice has changed even since i had abby, you will know yourself when he is needing a little bit more than milk.

I had pre eclamsia when i was preg with abby so she was born by emergency section, i was really scared that the same thing would happen again, i think even the docs thought it would happen again, but no my blood pressure never really went up at all, not only did i go to term but i went 12 days over (nightmare)

Hows your little boy now, is he getting big?

Hi,

Ben is doing really well, Can't seem to get him to sleep through the night though. All my friends that have had babies have had their wee one's sleeping through the night after a few weeks. He is 3 months and 2 weeks and I can't see him sleeping through the night anytime soon. He had his 6 weeks review today and he is now 11lb. He is so big now compared to the size he ws when he was born.

xx

Hi lynn

Wow he is doing well weight wise, wont be long until he has caught up with others his age. My little man is sleeping through the night but he gets his last feed the back of 10, he then gets a feed at about 5, then my little girl gets up about 7, so we are getting there. am sure your man will start sleeping through soon, i have heard of people that when there babys wake in the night they give them water instead of milk, they soon stop waking because its not worth it for some measly water. maybe worth a try if you are fed up with the night feed.

Hi

good to hear he slept better last night, it really makes the difference.

coping quite well with the two, but it is hard going sometimes, i have never really been a very organised person but i have really had to change my ways or i would never get anything done. was totally on top of everything for a while but i managed to let it slip and have been doing ironing for the last SIX hours, it is amazing what can happen if you take your finger off the button for even a short time. was cursing myself today, but i am back on track now and i wont need to resort back to maternity clothes as there is nothing else left to ware lol,

My daughter has been really good and manages to feed herself now and even goes and gets herself a nappy when she is dirty lol.

How do you feel your coping? i never asked is this your first?

Yes this is my first. Think I am coping ok! Some day's I just feel like I'm going round in circles then other day's I feel as if I have been a Mum forever!!

I think I might need to go back to work which I am not really looking forward to. Did you go back to work after Abby was born??

Hi lynn

I went back to work when abby was six months old, i needed to get out of the house and get some adult company, i just did one night shift a week, but it was really hard as i was getting no sleep during the day, so when i fell pregnant again i just gave it up straight away. I dont know what ill do in a few months time when sams abit older. Are you thinking on going back to work? what do you do?

Good to hear your coping so well it can be a bit daunting at first, i remember thinking when abby was little oh my got they have just left me in charge of this little baby and i dont know what to do lol,

Is ben sleeping any better? Abby slept until 8.30am today which is such a boost, hopefully she will keep it up Smiler

Better go and get dressed now, he he

Hi Rachel,

I work as a Service Desk Analyst in an IT company. I don't really enjoy it as I am the only woman in the department and really miss female company.

I am thinking of training to become a nurse but not sure if I could cope with all the studying.

Ben is sleeping a wee bit better. [Smiler]

Good to hear Abby is sleeping a bit later!

Hi lynn

wow that sounds like an exciting job, i worked in a nursing home as a care assistant, i did start my nurses training but gave it up to get married and have a baby, my mum started the course the same time as me and she has just qualified and has got a job in a renal ward which she just loves. you should wait until ben is a little older and then go for it, i think ill start again one day.

Hows ben doing? being good for his mummy?

hi lynn

i am having a bit of a nightmare with sam, he just seens to cry all day, nothing seems to shut him up apart from a dummie but unfotunatly he has a cleft lip and palate so the only way he can take a dummie is if i sit and hold it in, and i just dont have the time to do it. i am going to the health visitor today so hopefully she can make some suggestions, the good thing is he is knackerd by bed time so sleeps right through. Abby is fine she has just stated to say 'why', anything you say to her is promptly followed by 'why', it is so funny.

well done ben for sleeping through! it makes such a difference, you can cope with anything if you have had a good sleep.

Where you from?

Fingers crossed the HV gives you some good advice today.
I'm from a town called Airdrie that is just on the outskirts of Glasgow in Scotland. Where are you from?

Ben has been a bit restless today. I have just managed to get him down for a sleep but I have a feeling it won't last long!
